he hasn't shown many positives because every mets coach has told him to try and paint the corners and develop on those secondary pitches. hence, in his first seven starts he'd

throw about 91-92 on the corners and get lit up.
in the atlanta game, where he just went out and let it rip, he was great. not to mention he did quite nicely in his other starts in september.

i'm sorry but i really do love duque as the #5 but enough is enough. this guy is always injured and never has been there when we needed him. send him to the bullpen and with him, heilman, and sanchez you have a extremely nice core.

here we go...was at the game today....fun to see the boys play again(even though we brought a scrub squad today,,,,dissapointing.). however, few observations

1. Pelf looked great today....nice command of pitches, nice composure and made the Tigers starters(really an impressive lineup!!!!) look off balance and outmatched.

2. Feliciano pitched nicely as well getting out of a jam after faltering early.

3. Abreu has a nice, powerful swing. singling his first ab...making good contact in other abs. looked very comfortable at plate. deserves a look at 1B definitely a player 2 watch this spring.

4. Wise has a bizzare pitching motion, looks very awkward pitching but seemed to be effective today.

5. Church is a big dude, nice swing, didnt do all that much today.

6. Game was going nicely untill the Collazo debacle. looked plain awful....had 2 leave and take the kids for icecream...

Fair amount of mets fans there today...was nice 2 see.

the guy shouldnt be cut but he should learn how to play the game down in AAA until hes proven he has command over his pitches. its one thing to be a young phenom ala gooden or king felix in seatle but pelfrey hasnt shown many positives while up in the majors. He battled last spring and won a spot in the rotation only to prove his immaturity and be sent down. let him develop before hes screwed up for good.

But wait, how can this be? I thought Pelfrey was "garbage" and should be cut??

Oh wait, all of the Metsblog posters aren't always right?
