The Mets will travel to Lakeland today to play the Detroit Tigers.
Mike Pelfrey will pitch first, followed by Matt Wise, Pedro Feliciano, Jorge Sosa, Brian Stokes and Willie Collazo.
…from what i can gather, Ryan Church may be the only opening-day starter who will make the trip…remember, the rule is that a team must take at least five major leaguers for a spring training road game…so, on these long bus rides, it tends to be a skeleton crew…whereas, when the Mets travel to Jupiter to face the Cardinals, which is only a short drive away, more players will make the trip…

Starters or no starters….we’re headed there today…weird weather here in F-L-A today….only gonna be in the 50’s….we had tornado’s and severe thunderstorms all across the state last night.
Pelfrey pitched in Lakeland last year too and had a decent day.
don’t thinkwell be able to listen to this…says that 97.1 can’t play tigers games online due to major league restrictions.
it’s being played on mlb.com, in the past when mlb.com has streamed, the local stations have not.
We dont face the cards in Juipiter till the 13th, the first game is a home game.
or tomorrow
I think he was just listing that as an example of what to expect thoughout spring.
I’m not sure about the radio station either, it is available on WXYT thought mlb.com, but I’m not sure if they will allow it on the website or not, just like wfan. However, it is only spring training, so who knows.
Thats odd, I could have swarn the first two games were vs Detroit.
Heard on ESPN radio today that Myers will take the ball the first game. I guess that puts Hamels against Santana at Shea if Pedro gets the ball in the first game in Florida.
just saw that on ESPN….
How do they determine 5 MLers without 25-man rosters being determined?
anybody know wha the best price level/section at Tradition field is? I know the Terrace level is the most expensive, but is it necessarily the best? looks to be toward the outfield…
Those seats are great for viewing the Mets bullpen. I sat is the front row a couple of years ago (actually the day that Reyes doubled and pulled up lame on his way to 3rd base on the next hit), and had conversations with Mike Jacobs, John Stearn and Mike Stanton.
However, they are NOT the best seats to watch the game. I’d try to stay between 1st and 3rd.
So would I be able to listen to this without an MLB.tv or GameDay Audio Subscription?
It seems that the link above is working. although its tiger announcers.
… i guess not. :(
For those with itunes – WXYT is available on itunes radio.
Click on sports – and it’s the last one on the list (at least on mine).
I just tuned in and it seems to be working fine for me now… unless they stop broadcasting in the next few mins… but the broadcasters speaking right now are at the game.
