  1. tmbridge says:

Will I be able to listen to this without an MLB.tv or GameDay Audio Subscription?

    • Volume11 says:

Yeah, just click the link Matt provided and it will open up a live feed to the game, the pregame show is on now. Also, I’m on a Mac and it works fine (a lot of audio and video won’t work with Mav OS).

  2. DjDeF says:

All I gotta say is how sweet it is to finally get some pre-game notes. The Regular Season is getting close. Even Cerrone is in his warm-up mode

  3. Steal Home Jose! says:

I doubt it. Having mlb.tv or gameday audio would work, but I think MLB also has a spring training subscription which covers audio and video for all games.

  4. Mparty7441 says:

It will cut off once the game starts.

  5. tfc3rid says:

Perhaps there is a scaled back MLB Gameday…

  6. Btown says:

Due to Major League Baseball restrictions,
97.1 FM The Ticket is not able to broadcast Tigers games on the internet.

  7. tfc3rid says:

MLB Gameday Audio is a really terrific value for the season… I’ve had it since 2006 and love it…

    • m00kie says:

for those of us who are not lucky enough to be in sny range, the video is quite nice too. I love the archive feature — I can go back and watch any game from last season. Just the other day I watched Johan’s 17K game!

      • Btown says:

        haha, awesome

      • Steal Home Jose! says:

Agreed there, on tv, I only get the Mets when they are on ESPN, Fox, TBS, or WGN. I think my favorite feature of all is the condensed games. If I am unable to watch the game live, I avoid the box score that night and then watch a 10 minute version of the game the next morning. Sure beats just reading about it.

  8. bigNJ says:

are they going to carry the game or not?

  9. Nate W. says:

is everyone else getting dead air from that link?

  10. tfc3rid says:

2 on 0 out for the Mets

  11. DaWrightStuff says:

    im listening now.. commercial break

    • Nate W. says:

They’re talking nonsense for a while now, I guess they arent doing the game live on Detriot radio…

      • m00kie says:

games on mlb.com are blacked out on local internet radio

        • Nate W. says:

yea, what I dont get is that the two schmucks on the air are at the game and seem to be doing some sort of pregame… even though the game has started.

        • m00kie says:

weird — I guess they decided that was better than dead air. They do the same type of thing on ESPN when a game of the week is shown on the local station — they just keep the talking heads nonsense going as if there was no game scheduled.

  12. brooklynlou says:

“Mets need to bring three starters to the game today and they look two shy of that …”

    Nice

  13. backinbusiness says:

can someone please recap what has happened so far. was (happily) digging up my gameday password!

  14. tfc3rid says:

Bases Loaded, 1 out for Ramon Castro.

  15. tfc3rid says:

    Sac Fly Castro, 1-0 Mets…

  16. m00kie says:

    top of first:

    pagain: infield hit,
    clark: sharp single,
anderson: dropped popup in CF-force at second
    church: walk,
castro: sac fly, runner caught in rundown trying to adv to third to end inning

  17. m00kie says:

    bottom of first:

    granderson: weak grounder to ss
    polanco: K (on a 2-2 “nasty slider”)
    perez: shallow fly to RF

    • backinbusiness says:

This is a real test for Pelfrey. He’s not going to face a lineup like the Tigers in the real season (thankfully). This is a very promising start!

  18. bigNJ says:

the problem is that pelfreys first trip through the lineup is usually good

its the 2nd and 3rd trips that usually do him in

    • likeitoughttabe29 says:

Not to mention that this is probably their first time facing real live pitching, in game situation. Lets see how he does in two weeks when the batters have had time to adjust.

do they play the tigers again during Spring Training?

  19. Ryn5 says:

Just stop responding to him, if everyone ignores him he will go away.

  20. bigNJ says:

we have a SS game sunday the 16th

  21. backinbusiness says:

michael/”michelle” abreu is making a case for himself.

these announcers could do a bit more talking about…the game. i prefer those college kids!

    • brooklynlou says:

31 yo Cuban defector signed to a minor league deal. Supposedly a very good hitter. Could be a very interesting signing.

      • Nate W. says:

        thats 27 in Duque years…

He should be a nice piece to the AAA team and a good guy to have around in case Delgado gets hurt.

  22. coolio83 says:

For us in teh New York Area, http://www.wbbl.com has the feed, listening to it right now

  23. m00kie says:

    top of second:

    gotay: popup to left
    abreu: linedrive hit to left
machado: rbi standup triple down the rf line
    hernandez: groundball to 3rd
    pagan: groundball to short

    mets 2-0

updates may be more scarce from here –need to do a little work ;)

  24. FBones24 says:

“Pelfrey had a strong first inning. Looked confident going after the top-third of the Tigers lineup, pounding the strike zone with his fastball. Threw 16 pitches, 11 for strikes. He ended the inning with a strikeout of DH Timo Perez, fanning the former Met on a nasty slider.”

…from the Star Ledger…way to go Pelf.

  25. Horseman says:

Who had a stiff neck last year from making a long bus trip? Was it Delgado or Valentin or someone else? A reason not to make the big boys travel.

  26. m00kie says:

    ordonez: infield hit to third
cabrera: popup to left (diving catch by clark)
    guillen: lineout DP to short

  27. tfc3rid says:

Solid outing by Pelfrey against a pretty good lineup…

  28. pkay23 says:

Guess what came in the mail the other day my “JOSE JOSE JOSE” seven game tickets!!! I’m pumped!!!

    • mackey_sassers_arm says:

I wonder when I will be receiving my season tickets. I can’t wait. Johan!!

      • Saltzy23 says:

Wait….the partial people got their tickets before the full season holders…..GRrrrrrr…..

BTW, the password for the presale tomorrow is (shockingly enough)…..Santana….

Every game is up for presale except OD, Yanks, Last Game….

Hope this helps a fan out…..

  29. m00kie says:

    top of 3rd

    jason grilley (sp?) pitching

    clark: groundball to 3rd
    anderson: pop to rf
    church: pop to cf

  30. m00kie says:

    pelf’s pitching another

  31. QnsNative718 says:

Hey, Mookie. Thanks for the play by play…

  32. QnsNative718 says:

yea no $hit… Im “working” myself too…

    • tfc3rid says:

Same here… Thank God for Gameday Audio…

      • K-Hern says:

lovin the play by play…..can’t have the volume up, with my boss sitting in the next room….. it’s like a deadly game of cat and mouse keeping him from seeing this screen up.

  33. DaWrightStuff says:

I want to get Gameday audio now ’cause im bored at work… but I can just imagine the moment I click “purchase”, 15 emails gonna come in from clients

  34. m00kie says:

    bottom 3rd: matt wise pitching

renteria: grounder to 3rd (10 pitches!)
    rodriguez: grounder to 2nd
    jones: grounder to short

3 batters, 3 weak grounders, nice debut!

  35. m00kie says:

    top 4th

castro: i missed, he got out
    gotay: popup?
    abreu: K

    • backinbusiness says:

the box score from mets.com says grilli has 1K (abreu), 1 groundout (clark), and 4 flyouts.

  36. RichardK says:

    A Radio stream that works

    mmslb.eonstreams.com/Playlist.wsx?PPID=1970&MSWMExt=.asf

Play in Windows Media Player (Open URL)

  37. DjDeF says:

How bad are these announcers. Homer central

  38. VCarver says:

Coolio gave the link to listen live above (thanks, coolio). It works. No gameday audio needed. You need to fill out a short form, but there’s no need to wait for a confirming e-mail.

It’s great to listen to some live Mets baseball!

  39. bigNJ says:

    most are homers

i cant hate them for it

  40. m00kie says:

    bottom 4th

    granderson: flyout to rf
    polanco: grounder to 2b
    perez: flyout to cf(?)

this “overpowering” lineup has sent the minimum to the plate.

  41. m00kie says:

top of 5th, zach miner pitching

    machado: ground to 2nd
    hernandez: ground to short
    pagan: ground to 2nd

  42. mackey_sassers_arm says:

/why wouldn’t the announcers be homers? It is a spring training game in February. I will be pissed if I turn on SNY on Saturday and instead of Johan, Gary and Ron are talking about the opposition.

  43. 5and7 says:

The Mets offense is now acting like we expected it would. Thats now 11 in a row retired. The pitching is holding up nicely though.

  44. Nate W. says:

…could the announcers tell us who is pitching?

seriously, who pitched the 4th for the Mets?

  45. backinbusiness says:

    feliciano is in now.

  46. 5and7 says:

am i hearing things or does this announcer call Angel Pagan, Anhell Pagan?

  47. Nate W. says:

Pagan with a nice play in CF…

I wonder if they plan on using Pagan as the AAA CF so FM can learn LF/RF. much like they did with Milledge in 2006…

    • bigNJ says:

i think pagan could wind up making the team

      • Nate W. says:

only if Endy (or another bench player) needs to start the year on the DL, imo

unfortunately for Pagan he has options, and others dont. For the little impact that a bench player has, I doubt they would waive Gotay to keep Pagan.

  48. backinbusiness says:

HBP and a walk for Feliciano…

  49. m00kie says:

    bottom of 5th, feliciano pitching

ordonez: hbp, removed for pinch runner
    cabrera: flyout to center
    guillen: walk
renteria: double play on hard hit ball back to pitcher

  50. m00kie says:

top 6th: miner still pitching, may be lineup changes but these announcers are barely paying attention….

clark: reached on two base error (should have been on 3rd says the tigers announcers .. hustle buddy!)

anderson: foul out, third base side
    church: popup behind second
    castro: popup

  51. backinbusiness says:

sosa in for the mets. soloman enriquez at C.

  52. Nate W. says:

    Jorge Sosa now pitching

    Manriquez is catching

  53. bigNJ says:

    salomon manriquez??

where the hell do they find these guys?

    • Nate W. says:

there is always work for catchers in February and March. My guess is a couple of them make the New Orleans squad and the rest play in Mexican summer league ball.

Manriquez, Casanova, Paniagua, Molina… its like a Venezuelan law firm…

  54. FBones24 says:

“There’s no way I can be mad. They’ve given me opportunities and I just haven’t taken advantage of them. That’s the bottom line.”

Compare above (humble Pelfrey quote) with various Milledge quotes from SI article.

  55. Nate W. says:

was that a ground ball DP from Sosa?

  56. m00kie says:

    bottom 6th:
sosa pitching, new catcher, solomon something or other

boss came in for a bit so I only half listened, and the tigers have started shuffling their lineup

    rodriguez: out
    ??: walk
    inge: walk
    rayburn: K looking
    perez: ground to short

  57. DaWrightStuff says:

can someone … anyone get a hit?

  58. mackey_sassers_arm says:

    what’s the score?

  59. bigNJ says:

the bbl stream just went out on me

  60. Nate W. says:

    2-0 Mets in the 7th

there hasnt been a baserunner past 2nd in a while on either side…

  61. m00kie says:

top of 7th: preston larison (former prospect, trying to break through) pitching

guy from work came in and wouldn’t stop talking (even though I turned up the volume and tried to look disinterested) .. maybe it’s a little early in the season to start alienating people ;)

    but I got this much:

    double off the wall
    abreu: K looking
    machado: out
    out

    • CaseStreet says:

You should get a head set and make believe you’re on a conference call. Whenever someone comes in, just start talking to the headset.

  62. backinbusiness says:

anyone know who is pitching for the mets? whoever it is just gave up a 3B.

  63. DonDopeyNJ says:

    Willie Collazo

  64. Nate W. says:

Collazo is in now, I think

  65. Nate W. says:

hmm, now I’ve got someone talking about Lions ticket prices… did the game get called off? lol

  66. QnsNative718 says:

Those runs all earned by Collazo?

  67. m00kie says:

    bottom 7th: collazo pitching

    groundout on 1 pitch
Hessman (?): triple off the wall
    penn?: long flyball double
    santiago: walk
not sure who: clark misplayed popup blown by wind, bloop single
ramirez: 2 run “seeing eye base hit” first & third 1 out
    inge: rbi single
    rayburn: infield popup to first
hollaman? (leland didn’t even have anyone on deck and had to scramble for a pinch hitter!): popup

    4 run inning : /
    better luck next time willie.
    tigers 4
    mets 2

  68. DonDopeyNJ says:

finally the side is retired. oof. rough inning.

  69. backinbusiness says:

um, we’re out of pitchers aren’t we? guess we’ll be seeing some more willie…

  70. backinbusiness says:

meanwhile, it is 8-0 phillies over reds after 6; cards have 14 runs against St. Louis U after 4!

  71. m00kie says:

    top 8th: tim burdick?

“this batter” according to our informative announcers: swinging K
    clark: ground to 3rd(?)
    another batter: fly to left

  72. backinbusiness says:

adam bostick in for the mets.

  73. backinbusiness says:

    Collazo:

    1IP, 5H, 4R, 4ER, 1BB, 0K, 0HR, 36.00 ERA.

    oof.

  74. m00kie says:

    bottom 8th: adam bostick pitching
    cleveland: double
    hessman : walk
    marcus: force at third
    santiago: fly to rf
    not sure :walk
not sure: ground ball to third

    • Necciai27 says:

Nice to see Bostick not walk four or five guys in a single inning. BTW, I’m also a Tigers fan. Have been since the early 1990’s and saw Travis Fryman, Dean Palmer, and Bobby Higginson in their prime. And I remember Matt Anderson throwing 100 mph with regularity. And then the years from 2002-2004 that were really painful (they had this one reliever formerly in the A’s system, Franklyn German, who made Guillermo Mota look positively lights-out, and then there was Jose Lima, who made me want to throw my remote through the TV even before ‘06). But I’m getting sidetracked. For those wondering about some of the semi-garbled names…

“Tim Burdick” is Tim Byrdak. Good LOOGY, though I wouldn’t let him face right-handed hitting. A bit like Scho, but better in the sense that he can pitch well at home.

“Cleveland” is Brent Clevlen. Semi-busted prospect who swings at everything.

“Marcus” is Marcus Thames, who should be a pretty good platoon player this year.

“Santiago” is Ramon Santiago, the late career Rey Ordonez clone the Tigers traded to get Carlos Guillen. Then they traded cash to get him back or got him on waivers or something. Probably the best trade the Tigers ever made…

  75. m00kie says:

top 9th: bautista? pitching “power arm”

    fernando martinez: single to right
manriquez: flyout to right, warning track
    gotay: walk
abreu: double play to end it

    • Necciai27 says:

That’d be Denny Bautista, who FWIW is Pedro’s cousin. He works intensely with Pedro and also his older brother, Ramon Martinez.

  76. m00kie says:

thats’ all folks, it’s been fun ;)

Other than Collazo’s rough inning, our pitching held up well..

  77. DonDopeyNJ says:

tigers win 4-2 damn. i was gonna be big on michel abreu if he hit another ninth inning homer.

  78. ghobot says:

. . .are you being serious?!

  79. m00kie says:

    returnofourfavoritetroll

  80. Btown says:

    Ummm….we aren’t winning this one….

    Today’s lineup
    METS

    Angel Pagan (CF)
    Brady Clark (LF)
    Marlon Anderson (DH)
    Ryan Church (RF)

    Magglio Ordonez (RF)
    Miguel Cabrera (3B)
    Carlos Guillen (1B)
    Edgar Renteria (SS)
    Ivan Rodriguez (C)
    Jacque Jones (LF)

  81. red high tops and a mets cap worn backwards says:

    lol o u

  82. Hojo Fan says:

Can three Andersons beat one Granderson?

  83. backinbusiness says:

pretty glad that lineup isnt in the NL East. God.

  84. ibeentired says:

oh my god look at that lineup

  85. ravi3 says:

You are an idiot. It is a 2.5 hr trip from PSL, and NO team brings there established vets on a trip that long. EVER. Get a life

  86. nevets72 says:

    Human Waste Mechanism.

  87. pkay23 says:

It’s pre-season…it is not a glimpse of the World Series. Your remarks about Willie Randolph are also ridicolous. However, looking at other comments you posted on this thread I’m probably wasting my time even commenting on what you wrote.

  88. bigNJ says:

    god you’re obtuse

  89. Saltzy23 says:

Look man, lets change the topic. You need professional help. I’m not even joking. You SERIOUSLY have issues outside of your faux Mets fandom/hatred. Go to the Phillies blog. Get drunk. Get laid. What-ever… Bottom line….Get a LIFE. How old are you? Cause you need to look at yourself in the mirror and ask, ‘Why would anyone repeatedly make obsurd posts on baseseball blog, just to get angry reactions?’ Do you not have friends?Family? Do you really need attention this much….your’re a sad person.

I really feel bad for you man…..for real….

  90. LeGrandeOrangeAndBlue says:

Hey — the only thing this proves is that in spring training, the manager gets to evaluate his players by putting them out there if, when, and however he feels like it. If this exhibition game was during the last week of grapefruit league play, you might have a point but, dude, it’s still February — lighten up.

  91. kowalski69 says:

    troll.

btw, you just contradicted yourself by calling the mets a WS team.

  92. brooklynlou says:

What Ravi3 said. Its the first spring training game, Its 2.5 hours away. This is really a chance to take a look at Pelfrey, Church, and some marginal pitchers. The vets are working out at PSL. If the trip was reversed with the Tigers coming to PSL, they would have done the same

  93. likeitoughttabe29 says:

This guy is a clown, they are playing in Lakeland which is like 150 miles from Port St. Lucie. If you knew one single thing about baseball you would never make a comment like that. I would be more concerned if Willie took a team of his best guys. This is a chance to let some of the younger guys play to see if he wants them to remain in camp or ship them to the minor league camp in a week or two. Plus if he brings a full squad thats an enitre day without real practice for most of those guys.

  94. astoriametsfan72 says:

why do you guys respond and react to him. He’s looking for attention, not a discussion. He’ll get bored and go away if everyone just ignores him.

  95. Jolting Joe says:

You’re absolutely right–the entire 2008 season depends on this game. If the mets lose because they didn’t play their starters, they might as well withdraw from the major leagues.

  96. mrose says:

i seriously am starting to think he is just playing a character when he does this…

Its all too stupid to even say and be serious….
i mean….seriously, no one is that dumb…NO ONE!

  97. therealsince86 says:

Guys this is not a troll. If you have been on this site long enough, you unfortnately remember the original Mr. Met and Firemetsmanagenment. These guys were incredibly ignorant trolls that tried to mess up the blog. This guy is obviously poking fun at them.

  98. m00kie says:

    troll..

  99. therealsince86 says:

You have to have been here a while to understand that it’s sarcasm. He is making fun of the original firemetsmangament.

  100. Saltzy23 says:

I honestly think its really sad. I mean NEEDING attention this bad. Constantly changing your SN just to make fake posts. Loser is one word…..I think pathetic is better….

  101. therealsince86 says:

Exactly proves my points above. However, if you push this to an extreme it will no longer be funny and will start to ruin the blog the way the first idiot did.

  102. Saltzy23 says:

I reply to your posts cause I honestly cannot figure out your motive. Throwing eggs at cars….leaving poop bags on porches, sure. Theres a payoff. I just sit here picturing some loser hitting ‘refresh’ every 10 seconds just to see how much fake attention he can get. WOW…you are so cool. You are able to post posts that are 180 degrees from the truth and die-hard fans point out how stupid they are. FFFFFUN…..Do you realy have the time for that? Dont you have a job? A class to go to? A hobby? Porn. Xbox360….I mean ANYTHING else. You are an annonymous a$$hole on a baseball blog. Something to be proud of. Your parents must be so happy….

  103. ravi3 says:

    maybe hes a yankee/philly fan

  104. jamie says:

he definitely keeps coming because he always gets action, no matter how absurd his posts are (or maybe becasue they’re always so absurd), and even from the posters who know his act. If we keep feeding the trolls, they will keep returning.

  105. bigNJ says:

    agreed…….its sick

  106. stickguy says:

and for the Mets, it is 2004!

  107. mdemaio says:

    And that’s without Sheffield…

  108. jamie says:

or poking fun at us for continually getting in a tizzy.
