News: SNY’s Burkhardt in the Booth
By Matthew Cerrone - Feb 28, 2008 11:55 am

Kevin Burkhardt will call seven spring training games, the first of which will be on March 3 at 1 pm – when the Mets take on the Braves.

…Gary Cohen calls every single game, so it’s good that he’s getting a slight break through some of the spring…rest those pipes, gary

For SNY’s schedule of games, go here, the first of which will be tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 29, against the Cardinals.

Is the game radio-broadcast today other than mlb.com/extortion?

    • backinbusiness says:

It is extortion, but its also $15 for the year…

    • Steal Home Jose! says:

I bought the radio plan 2 years ago and I rationalized it by staying at work an hour longer than I needed to. I paid for the YEAR and got to listen to a game while I was at it.

If you don’t want to pay $15, you can pay $140/year for XM Radio.

i dont mind burkhardt calling a few games, but gary gets plenty of rest over the spring, tv dont go to away games so he only calls 1/2 the games played. I would like to see cohen and burkhardt doing those games together with no ron or keith. I love ron and keith but itll be nice to see some different looks during the spring, and plus who knows more about whats goin on this spring more than burkhardt.

more important though, will he still have time to send text messages to matt while he is in the booth?

  5. Protes says:

Gary is not resting his pipes that much — he also calls Seton Hall bball.

  6. koosman3669 says:

Matt will be doing the color commentary, but only for a total of one minute and via text message.

this kevin guy is talented. much more talented that the chris guy they demoted last year. lets hope if the kevin guy gets promoted they don’t put the chris guy back at mets games.
