Niese pitching well.

mistermet5757 March 1, 2008 at 1:39 pm

Great…now Delgado’s hurt again.

Nate W. March 1, 2008 at 1:42 pm

what happened?

Nate W. March 1, 2008 at 1:45 pm

oh nevermind, I thought something happened in the game

cgpublic March 1, 2008 at 1:53 pm

Mint – welcome to the second coming of Mo Vaughn. Nothing like having depth at the minor league level. It’s Michel Abreu time!

ugbmets21 March 1, 2008 at 1:44 pm

NADY! go get him. he can platoon with church and spell delgado at 1st.

Nate W. March 1, 2008 at 1:44 pm

I wonder if Schneider is working with the pitchers on the side so much that he needs to take the ST games off for rest…

m00kie March 1, 2008 at 1:46 pm

I’m wondering about Schneider too .. what’s he played like 2 innings so far?

Nate W. March 1, 2008 at 1:53 pm

hmm, Manriquez catching Niese makes sense as they may both be at AA. But yea it is a little curious.

metsftw March 1, 2008 at 1:45 pm

i see sosa’s coming in…any word on who else is pitching today?

m00kie March 1, 2008 at 1:51 pm

looks like feliciano is up after sosa

Nate W. March 1, 2008 at 1:49 pm

I’m curious to see if Sosa goes two innings. The Mets should be preparing him to be a starter given the status of Duque and lack of depth. They can always convert him to a starter later, cant go the other way though.

Nate W. March 1, 2008 at 2:03 pm

whoops, I meant they could convert him to a reliever later… duh!

but curiously he is done after one inning.

Nate W. March 1, 2008 at 1:56 pm

when did it become commonplace for there to be DH’s in NL ST games? I remember there being exceptions for certain hitters a couple years ago, now it seems like its all the time…

Airfeet March 1, 2008 at 2:01 pm

Sosa is not good enough to be a starter….hes a mediocure reliever at best

Nate W. March 1, 2008 at 2:04 pm

He’s good enough to fill in when needed.

If he doesnt stretch out his arm then the Mets are just closing off one option for a starter.

mdemaio March 1, 2008 at 2:07 pm

Umpires are in midseason form…strike zone is all over the place…

gipper913 March 1, 2008 at 2:07 pm

Boy, Niese is young….and nervous to be interviewed on TV. Nice job on the mound though!

mdemaio March 1, 2008 at 2:10 pm

from Defiance, Ohio…gotta love that town name…he’s definitely green…

gipper913 March 1, 2008 at 2:11 pm

Seems to have the right attitude, though….and three Ks in 2ip is pretty nice start to the spring. Oh Jesus….Church and Anderson in horrid collision.

mdemaio March 1, 2008 at 2:12 pm

Yikes, that was ugly…

metsftw March 1, 2008 at 2:12 pm

oh my god…communicate guys!!!! eek

jimmyjack March 1, 2008 at 2:10 pm

Why are these games not televised in HD? I remember last year only mets home games were in HD..is this going to be resolved for this year perhaps?

shamsky March 1, 2008 at 2:12 pm

Folks, I’m afraid the career of Carlos Delgado may be over…

mrose March 1, 2008 at 2:15 pm

did i miss something? i mean i know hes getting an mri..but lets not jump to conclusions here

gipper913 March 1, 2008 at 2:13 pm

Not good.

Nate W. March 1, 2008 at 2:14 pm

it looked to me that they went knee to knee, this could be bad…

mdemaio March 1, 2008 at 2:15 pm

They seem to be walking OK…just woozy…

kendychavez March 1, 2008 at 2:14 pm

church and marlon collide and are coming out. i got the radio on, where are they hurting?

mrose March 1, 2008 at 2:15 pm

they’re woozy..marlon was flexing his jaw….church was woozy

gipper913 March 1, 2008 at 2:17 pm

Chruch got his bell rung….Marlon’s jaw and perhaps wind knocked out. Really was close to a nice catch by church…the collision knocked it out. They both seem to be walking okay….NOW Feliciano’s glove hand just got smacked.

kendychavez March 1, 2008 at 2:18 pm

church and marlon smack into each other, feliciano was getting checked out by the trainer a minute ago, reyes took a foul ball off his leg earlier, what a nightmare. can we just forfeit?

GetsByBuckner415 March 1, 2008 at 2:19 pm

Why does this season all of the sudden have an utter sense of doom…Beltran, Castillo, Delgado, Church, Anderson, Sanchez all not 100% yet…unbelieveable…never fails for us Met fans.

bigNJ March 1, 2008 at 2:29 pm

where is all this crap about delgado coming from??

do you actually have a legit source or are you talking out of your ass?

dboy0308 March 1, 2008 at 2:30 pm

hahah did anyone just see when they just showed jose valentine on the mets bench and he points at the guy next to him and did the bee-jay hand gesture thing? its about 100x funnier just cause its valentine

gipper913 March 1, 2008 at 2:36 pm

What’s Bobby V doing there?

Oh….you mean Valentin (no e). Jose V. So easy for a big Mets fan to misspell our players names, since they never show the names in graphics on TV, or in the papers, or, you know, write them on the back of the jerseys or anything like that!

Angelzero360 March 1, 2008 at 4:03 pm

LOL That was funny. I couldn’t stop laughing. Did you see the kids fighting ?? omg best fight ever

Nate W. March 1, 2008 at 2:34 pm

Bobby Freaking Parnell!

Charlie March 1, 2008 at 2:36 pm

Can we finally just admit it to ourselves? Carlos Delgado will never be a threat in our lineup every again. Since his defense is awful, can we move on and try to replace him post haste?

GetsByBuckner415 March 1, 2008 at 2:46 pm

Well at least we only have to see Delgado swing late on fastballs for one more season.

metsftw March 1, 2008 at 2:52 pm

how about those kids fighting? LOL

gipper913 March 1, 2008 at 2:54 pm

LOL…we have the best broadcast booth in baseball.

Play by play of to kids fighting, followed by:

Keith: It’s not easy to live with someone every day.

Gary: I’m not touching that one.

Long pause

Gary: You and I get along.

bigNJ March 1, 2008 at 2:55 pm

LOL

i love those guys

gipper913 March 1, 2008 at 2:56 pm

*two kids fighting

mhochman March 1, 2008 at 3:14 pm

I thought maybe they were implying that they didn’t get along with Ron, since he wasn’t there to defend himself, heh

GetsByBuckner415 March 1, 2008 at 3:22 pm

Great…Church has a concussion which means he will be out at least 2 weeks and Delgado has a bad hip which will slow him up on fastballs even more.

I guarantee that by the trading deadline, Omar will be looking for a power bat.

metsftw March 1, 2008 at 3:35 pm

what a catch!!! endy who? haha

DWright is King March 1, 2008 at 3:49 pm

Hit By pitch to score a run..I’ll take it!

metsftw March 1, 2008 at 3:50 pm

interesting end…

i hate the HOO in between “let’s go mets”

Another Matt March 1, 2008 at 3:50 pm

Nice graphic at the end… we just beat the LA Cardinals, apparently!

GetsByBuckner415 March 1, 2008 at 3:52 pm

Put it in the books…we win.

GetsByBuckner415 March 1, 2008 at 3:53 pm

even though it comes at a price due to Church’s concussion.

JNGordon March 1, 2008 at 4:15 pm

Your friend at NYU could lose his/her job for revealing medical information. It violates a federal privacy law. Even for a public figure.

JNGordon March 1, 2008 at 5:06 pm

If a players’ contract has a provision where the team or league can release medical information that is one thing. Hospital employees have no such freedom under any circumstances. They even have signs in elevators warning not to discuss patients in public where they may be overheard.

mhochman March 1, 2008 at 2:23 pm

Wow, way to jump to conclusions, which Crystal Ball are you using? could you get me tomorow’s lottery numbers please!

gipper913 March 1, 2008 at 2:31 pm

Seriously, who said out for season?

Koko March 1, 2008 at 4:12 pm

I guess your friend wasn’t versed in HIPAA compliance at this ‘ny medical hospital’.

Koko March 1, 2008 at 5:55 pm

The AP/Mets don’t work for the hospital. HIPAA only involves care by the hospital. So unless Delgado signed a statement telling your friend that he could divulge the results of the x-ray your friend is in violation.

It has nothing to do with the actual x-ray or the procedure that took occurred. It is the medical care professionals that are under these regulations.

mhochman March 1, 2008 at 6:18 pm

As i have family in the medical busines, i can tell you that you are 100% wrong, No employee of any heathcare agency, can disclose any patient care information, be it X-Rays, Brain Scans, or the fact that the poor man had a thorn in his paw, without the consent of the patient, Period.

bigNJ March 2, 2008 at 2:21 am

no they werent……..and it seems like this so called “source” from the hospital doesnt exist……legal issues aside…….its not correct

nice try dumbass
