But Nick Johnson is their firstbaseman, they’re moving Young. They’ve said this many times. I would like him but getting him is almost impossible. Whoever we get will have to come cheap if its a trade.

Dan Johnson in Oakland is one guy that can be had who has OBP skills and some power. Even though it doesn’t appear this is a serious injury, it does highlight the ongoing need for an adequate backup for Delgado. Hell, Johnson could play next year if we miss out on Teixeira and Dunn.

i’ve been saying it for months and months, and only got laughter n reply. The mets should take advantage of the two firstbaseman situation in Washington. Nick Johnson could have been had. Even if Delgado is “healthy”, he is going to hit .250, miss anything on the inside of the plate, or ground into the shift over and over and over and over.

I don’t think that they would want Gotay. They have a 2B in the wings in Delwyn Young who Larry Bowa is very, very impressed with. Kent would make sense as the Dodgers are pretty high on Young who was an OFer but with the acquisition of Andruw Jones makes him unusable in the OF, so they are converting him to a 2nd baseman this spring. If we can do the deal, I would be for it, but Kent is another guy like Bonds, a bit of a clubhouse cancer.

I’d rather have Bonds than Inge. Bonds can also play both corner outfield positions.
