PSL: Video from El Duque’s Bullpen
By Matthew Cerrone - Mar 3, 2008 11:46 am

…here is some video i shot of the guys warming up, followed by Orlando Hernandez working with Rick Peterson in advance of a bullpen session…el duque is using a towel, with a ball wrapped up in the end of it, to help simulate the weight of throwing motion as peterson works with him on the follow-through in his delivery…all while this was taking place, i was praying he didn’t hurt himself any more than he already is

keep an eye on the beat writer blogs, as i’m sure they will have additional commentary from the throwing session

midway through the video, el duque tries to use me and my camera as a shield against Duaner Sanchez, who jokingly started to swing a chain at him…oh, dear lord

Damn it YouTube, leave the videos up!!!

    • DaWrightStuff says:

      yeah what’s up with that?

      • ravi3 says:

I’d assume since MLB is very strict regarding copyrighted material, that Youtube automatically takes down any baseball videos…It may be the SNY logos in the video, that make Matt’s footage seem like copyrighted data, as there is plenty of MLB footage on youtube taken from the stands and such.

  2. VCarver says:

Geez, why can’t someone post video of a bullpen workout? What’s up with YouTube and/or MLB?

Maybe it’s just some overzealous watchdog over there?

  3. Giaco says:

It happens on YouTube all the time… I dont get it because this footage is owned by Cerrone…

Try and get the SNY people to help out or have the video posted on there YouTube channel

i’ve been wondering about this for awhile and i feel like there’s a really obvious answer. so i admit i’m dumb and please don’t laugh at me!!!

when you go to an mlb game, take a video yourself, and put it on youtube…can mlb have it taken down? i’ve only seen that happen with videos ripped from broadcasts of games…youtube has bunches of amateur videos up. is this different now because matt is affiliated with sny, even if the videos aren’t uploaded to sny’s youtube account?

i just want to see baseball you guys :(

LOL… El Duqe playing with chains? What was going through your mind their matt? I’m not sure if I’d rather have him healthy or you…. lol jk

anyway, better job with the video camera

  6. Steve In Tampa says:

Maybe Peterson has a copyright on the towel with a ball wrapped up in the end of it training technique….LOL

Kendry Morales is 24 years old and a natural first baseman, but played a few games in the outfield for the Angels last year. He is pretty much blocked from getting a starting job in their organization, even though he has all the tools to warrant one. I do not know what it would take to acquire him, but I would think a low-level prospect may be enough to do it. Morales fits the bill as the bench player we are looking for that will insure us at 1B and OF, while also giving us a young option as Delgado’s possible replacement. Any thoughts?

Copy/paste? This is why we need a forum. :-P

    • The Glider says:

I don’t know anything about him. I was hoping we can do something to get Xavier Nady back from the Pirates. How does Morales compare to the X Man?

Also, I heard Jon Heyman in the FAN today say the Mets either were interested, or should be interested, in Marcus Thames of the Detroit Tigers. I’d still rather have Nady.

How does YouTube find these so quickly anyway? do they pay people to search for copyright violations and pull them right away? YouTube needs to pull Matt’s other video with Don Mattingly as there are 2 Oliver Perez watm up pitches buried in there as well as the team running onto the field. Ooooohhh…Matt snuck one by them!

    • thornie says:

Yes. I work at a TV company that does business with YouTube and I can tell you in addition to web filters that scan for possible copyright material, they do hire a team of people who pull this stuff right away.

  9. CaseStreet says:

Did Burgos lend Sanchez one of his chains?

  10. moze1021 says:

el duque changing his delivery??? thats what I see in the video….

Looks a lot different…lets see if he sticks with this..

  11. Zoe says:

Very cool, especially the El Duque practice session.
“Please don’t play with chains.” Priceless.
