Enough with this anceint team crap. The Yanks are the old geezer team in town!

The Mets have 2 really old (by baseball standards) guys, Alou and Duque. 5th starter, and LF that gets paid for p/t duty (sad as that is).

Delgado and pedro aren'tt young, but are still at an age where it is not unreasonable to be expected to be productive.

Wagner is the only other old guy that sees regular duty.

Everyone else is in what should be there prime years (28-32), except for the guys that are younger.

Easley and Anderson are older, but they are bench players/PHs, and replaceable.

Omar tried to milk 1 more year of semie-regualr production out of Duque and ALou, mainly because they camre relatively cheap, and the in house replacements weren't ready (plus he needed to trade for Sanatana).

The Hernia is also more of a freak thing too, and not really related to Alou being 42.

Sure, too many aches/pains and guys not back from minor procedures, but let them recover during ST, and see how they are on opening day.

The team will be OK if they have to run Pagan/Endy out there for a month or so, or Omar will pick up some back ups.

and, The rotation as it stands is all young guys (in their mid 20's, with the exception of Pedro), which is a good thing.

Finally, most of the posters railing on Omar for having a old team would go nuts if he had gone real young, and they struggled yelling about lack of veteran leadership!

The quickest and easiest song I've ever written:

(Of course, sung to the tune of Meet The Mets '62 version)

Gimpy Mets....
Hobbled Mets....
Downright Ger-i-a-tric Mets.

Throw your back out
Go under the knife....
Half the fanbase wants to take their own life!

Because the Mets are really roaming the halls
With canes and walkers....
Smells like mothballs.....

Hamstrings
Ankles
Twisting, Ripping, Tearing, Pulllllls.....

They just can't keep-it on-the-field
To play --- some --- baaallll......

As I recall we also "rushed" another promising outfielder to Shea back in the 80's.......aside from the drug and personal issues, he did pretty well (and from what's been written the last few days, it seems he's in good enough shape to jump in there and probably perform as well or better than some of the walking wounded !)

C'mon guys have faith in your team. Yeah some of the guys are "nicked up" but they are pros and will step up when it counts. Many of these guys are biting at the bit to regain something that was taken away from them and this being the last season at Shea I'm sure they will not let us down. Let's go Mets!
