Haha, If i get 7 or 8 offers like that it will practically pay for itself.

Thats a point of view I've never heard of "the small town view" its not a bad way to look at it. I can see a different appreciation for the antics with that point of view.

I still have to disagree though. Im kind of a baseball nazi when it comes to these types of things. The T shirt toss is fine excpet when guidos and annoying adults knock over little kids for them, same with foul balls. Also anyone over the age of 12 that brings a glove/ fishing net to the game should be immediately ejected. And any adult pushing and crying over autographs should be sent to a camp somewhere never to be heard of again. Cow Bell man just takes the cake though, I am not a Yankee hater just because im a met fan i appreciate some tradition like Bob Shepard and Freddy has been there for like 50 years so its not a call for attention, he just enjoys it, he does it at manhattan basketball games for like 200 people Cow Bell Man does it for attention and he should just sit in his seats and watch the game.

GDP is usually on the hitter - if the guy running from first is unable to break up the play that's one thing, but realistically it's the batter's speed that pressures fielders into screwing up double plays, or just plain beats it out.

Plus of course he has to have hit a double play ball in the first place.

Having such a high GDP number on a poor team (hence presumably not having a runner at 1st with less than 2 outs most at-bats) suggests both a lot of grounders to middle infielders and an inability to beat out the plays.

They can get Lofton like production from Endy or Pagan, so no need for him at all. They need someone with a bit of pop in thier bat and preferably righty hitting. Lofton is none of these things.

i do agree that if he did indeed give himself that nickname and /or deliberately steal his act from freddy-the-fruitcake or whoever is in yankee stadium then that is pretty lame.

but I would not say anyone comes to the games just for the cowbell or t-shirt cannon or jose-jose-jose or meet the mets song or mr. met, but i do feel that these traditions are what makes the mets different from say the corporatist yakees and makes us feel like more of a small town atmosphere which i myself enjoy. i bet no one ever discussed the cowbell guy in this much length before. lol. If i see a guy at shea with an "Awesome Guy" mets jersey on I will buy you a beer.

Last time i checked no one was looking for Kenny Lofton to bring up their power numbers. I mean he has decent power for a Skinny lefty leadoff hitter, but i dont think a 40 year old lefty outfielder is what we need.

not to mention, it looks more an more like we need an insurance policy at first base. I like Marlon Anderson but not enough to do 25 games in a rom at 1B if Dlegado goes down.

After the Santana/Haren/Bedard deals it wouldn't surprise me if the Pirates ask an insane amount for Nady, who while average is solid. I know he's not a pitcher but the trading bar has been raised.

Did we bring Luca Brasi with us to give him an offer he couldnt refuse? They didnt want Oliver Perez so they tossed him. They need relief help and we offer that.

Just the fact that he stole his whole idea from Freddy the Frying Pan guy makes him unoriginal and therfore awful. Not to mention the only reason he is called Cow Bell Man is because he put it on the back of his own jersey when he stole this rediculous idea in the first place and there is nothing more lowly than giving yourself a nickname ( aka when George wanted to be called T Bone)

Mets fans have been subject to stupid and cheesy gimmicks that are unnessecary in NY, (i know i wrote this same thing like 2 weeks ago) but if your coming to the stadium for cow bell man and the tishirt launch just stay home. Save the gimmicks for Tampa and Pittsburgh (although the hot dog launch is hysterical) and keep it simple in NY just play the game.

Im gonna go buy a jersey right now that just says "AWESOME GUY" on the back so everyone can see me and call me Awesome Guy.
