By Matthew Cerrone - Mar 6, 2008 10:04 am

…i am the definition of amateur hour, folks…there is no getting around it…i got to the stadium like i have done all week, at 8 am…usually when i get here, the place is already jumping…

…it’s 10 am, though, and nobody is here yet…it’s a ghost town…

…i just learned that today’s game is a night game, and so nobody shows up until early afternoon…ugh…

…trial and error, folks…trial and error

    It’s AnchorMAN…not anchorwoman

    ..what is this, amateur hour?!?!

  7. CaseStreet says:

You can take some BP, do some fielding drills, or practice the changeup you learned from Johan.

    • tfc3rid says:

      That’s actually a fantastic idea…

SNY needs some programming to counter ‘Yankee Road Trip’ on YES… They can have various Mets bloggers go on road trips with the team…

  8. jasonc says:

    Matt -

You’re there so early, with so many injuries on the team, start taking BP there may be a place for you in the lineup.

the next big time player – milledge, lastings

    .350 ave, .500 slugging, .409 on base ave, .909 ops, 3 doubles, 4 runs, 2 sb, 5 rbi

boy, looks like he’ll win a spot for the THIRD f-king spring in a row, all from a guy who still is 22. too bad the mets were too stupid to realize it the first two times.

talent like his doesnt come around often

this will be worse than the bagwell trade. truely disgusting

phenominal bat speed, 5 tool talent, a chip on his shoulder, with revenge on his mind to embarrass the mets. not a good combination

    .300, 25, 100 25 sb (at least ) for 10 years

i will post his line after every game to remind met fans just how ludicrous it was to give him away

    minaya – you suck

    • mackey_sassers_arm says:

he can’t steal bases, he doesn’t hit for a high average, he can’t play defense. He is Jay Payton Light… Perhaps he can hit 25 HR’s and that 100 I am assuming is K’s on sliders in the dirt.

      • cpai76 says:

Cant play Defense? have you ever seen Milledge Play, he made a bunch of nice diving plays and he has a strong Arm. All you sheep are so against Milledge because thats what the Media has been feeding you. You will see come this season how good of a player Milledge is going to be.

        • MetsLv31 says:

He forces himself to make “nice diving plays” after he GROSSLY misreads the ball off the bat. I have seen him play, in fact I was at Fenway when he dropped a routine fly ball the second night in a row.

He does have an arm…there’s no disputing that.

        • MetsLv31 says:

Oh and since you only responded to the comment about defense I’ll assume you agree with the facts that he can’t steal, doesn’t hit for high avg., and is obviously overmatched when facing quality pitching.

He’s a marginally above average at best. If he flourishes in DC, then good for him, but his attitude and antics would not have gone over well in the over-bright spotlight that shines on NY athletes.

        • MetsLv31 says:

          above average player*

        • mackey_sassers_arm says:

24 minor league errors in the OF… that’s horrible. He would constantly jog after balls taht he would not get to. How about the Willis triple on the last day of the season? He walked after that. Yeah, it doesn’t show up as an error, but the kid can’t field. He doesn’t have a RF arm. he has a solid LF arm.

The media has been over-hyping this kid since he was drafted. Scouts around the game know that he isn’t that special.

    • astoriametsfan72 says:

yes…very impressive in the first week of spring training when pitchers don’t have their fastballs up to peak velocity and are not throwing their sliders off the plate down and away just…ya know…the pitches Milledge could never lay off and would get himself out time after time.

    • miker94 says:

And against any decent or experienced pitcher, he looks completely overmatched at the plate, swinging from his heels especially against any offspeed pitch. Sure he can hit, but only against some rookie or scrub pitcher. And his fielding is horrible. Are you kidding me, did you watch him play at all the last 2 years??? Watching him track a routine flyball is like watching a kid try to catch a popup for the first time. And he does have a strong arm, but that doesn’t mean anything, it’s very erratic and he has NO accuracy. He gets the ball and just launches it, usually way over the cutoff man’s head. I’ll take Church over him any day, hell I’d even take Green over him. I’m glad he’s gone!

    • yubbajr says:

Here’s all you need to know about Milledge…

When asked by a reporter at spring training a couple years ago about what it was like to work with a major league coaching staff and if he’s trying to soak it all in his response was…

“It’s hard to hear someone else tell me about hitting when they’re not me at the plate.”

That’s a great approach for a young player, don’t you think?

      Good riddance.

  10. youneedabuzz says:

Now where would we all rather be…sitting at work wishing it was the weekend or sitting in an empty stadium waiting for a bunch of MLB players to come play…

Btw Matt, we never did hear where you’re parking; do you get to park near those assigned spots or is there like press parking somewhere?

  11. ravi3 says:

this will help pass the time:

    sports espn go com/espn/page2/story?page=steinbrenner/080303

just replace the spaces with .’s

  12. Endys_Catch says:

Hey Matt, Can you be kind enough to go into the players and if they are signing autographs and meeting with fans? I’m on my way down for the weekend. I got Beltran and Wright last year….Wright would sign at the same spot after every game. Is there anything like that happening now?
