In a post to MetsGeek, Aaron Dorman talks with Bryan Hoch, who covers the Yankees for MLB.com.

despite being a Yankees beat writer today, hoch is the Christopher Columbus of online Mets fans, as he started Mets Online last decade, long before MLB Advanced Media and Mets.com was ever born…in fact, i started MetsBlog.com as a project in college, because i enjoyed hoch’s work so much on the blog for NJ.com…

this Q&A with hoch is a must read…his stories about maintaining Mets Online are classic and priceless

At Gotham Baseball Magazine, Mets Today’s Joe Janish explains why we should give Willie Randolph a pass for how he has managed the team’s bullpen over the last few years.

In the Daily News, Tamar El-Ghobashy talks with a few Mets fans about saying goodbye to Shea Stadium.

Lastly, Jack S is back with a three photo albums from Mets camp, which you can check out by clicking here, here and here.

For more photos from yesterday’s game, go to NYFS.

Metsonline.net was also active during a time when teams were a bit more anti-blog…Hoch got a cease and desist order from the MLB for the sight, which was too bad. That said, Matt, this site has become much more than Metsonline could have eer hoped to become

Bryan was lucky enough to get a job for MLB.com when they shut his site down. Metsonline.net was a great site, was sad to see it go.

Regarding his first interview in Bobby Valentine’s office, Hoch thought to himself:

ā€œI’m not supposed to be here, but I am.ā€

That’s how I felt when READING Matt’s story about being in the Mets Clubhouse. I can’t imagine what it felt like for him.

How can Pelfrey tip his pitches? He only throws a fastball.

Three pitches, apparently fanned glove means changeup, tongue out means fastball and if he doesn’t do anything that means slider.

What about when he plays with that dumb mouth piece? Maybe that means knuckleball.

I’m rooting for Pelph to get the 5 spot but he needs to get rid of that mouthpiece . Or Maybe we can all wear them at Shea when he pitches. That’s it , I’m buying a buch before it becomes like the Pedro wigs and no one can find one . Instead of K’s we can hang mouthpieces . Nice I’m doing it. Kinkos here I come.

When would his first start be ?

I just feel bad for Bryan having to cover the yankees. I read his blog religiously back in the day (which I can’t believe I’m saying - what was it 2-3 years ago). It was great stuff.

That can’t be an interview with Bryan Hoch, for as far as I am concerned he died the day he joined the Skankee staff.

Can’t believe I wrote a letter of outrage for that guy to MLB and the Mets shut MetsOnline down–only to see him join the dark side.

Bryan Hoch = Dead to Me

Bryan actually works for Major League Baseball, not the New York Yankees. He only covers them for MLB.com.
