At this point, Duque is like that old car you had, where it was smoking and leaking everywhere, but still ran. Not worth fixing (and the next major breakdown meant a trip to the junkyard).

So, you just fill up the oil, and keep driving it until it dies.

With Duque, once he is ready, keep running him out there every fifth day, getting as much use as possible before he blows up. Then junk him!

ElDuque is like a wounded dog. You think he's out, but he can still kill you. He's hardly ever healty, yet he still manages to pitch well. I'd only be worried if his arm fell off.

Hopefully the Carlos' will come back strong. Delgado should take some hitting lessons from Pagan. Just get on base, Alou (when he's back), Pagan or Church will bring you in.

If the Mets really don't need a 5th starter until 4/`16, then the best idea is probably to put Duque on the DLout of ST, and just keep him there getting ready. Then when the rotation spot finally comes up, use Duque if he is ready, oterhwise whichever guy (I assume Pelfrey) that is going to be # 5 until he is good to go.

Odds are, in the next moth he will have a relapse, his toe will flare up, he will get a hangnail, shingles, gout, Alzheimers, a cold sore, or RLS. Or possibly any combination of the above.

I'd like to see Sanchez 100% healthy before he threw a pitch but the Mets have to get him going soon. As for El Duque, I think we should all not expect much from him. I know what he can do when he's healthy, but that's been few and far in between.

Mets should just go into the season thinking that El Duque isn't going to be ready and if he manages to come out of Spring Training alright, then maybe consider giving him the 5th starter slot.

But I'd strongly consider leaving him in the bullpen if he turns up with anymore injuries. And if the Mets could only get lucky enough to get someone to trade with them, then maybe that's the last resort.
