Given the uncertainty of Sanchez”s health, I think it would be short-sighted to cut Register, who has to be on the ML roster on opening day if they want to keep him.

Wise has to be in as well…

I’m sure that Omar has his eye on Delgado right now. If he still looks bad at the plate a couple of weeks from now, I would expect him to seriously consider bringing in somebody from outside. I think it’s too early to tell at this point.

Who would you say is the most competent backup option on the team right now? Valentin? Anderson?

I liked what I saw from Carp last spring, but he’s not healthy, is he?

Let’s face the facts folks. Hip injuries do not bode well for those who play baseball. The swing of the bat is a violent movement. I hope I’m wrong, but Mr. Delgado’s days as a big time and possibly even as a mid-level producer are likely over. As he’s a C- fielder, I suggest that Omar finds someone fast. Carlos D. may challenge Mr. Alou’s DL record in 2008.

I think they should. That way, they get a real look at guys that they would otherwise lose, since they won’t be going to AAA>

Even worse, say the let Register go, then Sanchez gets hurt, and they got noone.

Yeah, the pitching has overall looked really good. Sanchez’s changeup was great, but he had trouble controlling the fastball.

All indications are that the Mets will carry 7 in the bullpen:
Wagner, Heilman, Feliciano, Sosa, Show

If Wise keeps it up he’s in. I like Register, but he needs to do better to lock up the last spot. He could easily lose his spot to someone like Rincon or Figueroa. Hope the last two are Sanchez and Wise. We need a trade…

You have to admit, it’s one thing to be a little off and quite another to look as bad as he has at the plate. Have you seen his AB’s? Getting beat on anything middle in, barely fouling off pitches, check swing strikes at balls in the dirt.

Hopefully he can turn it around, but I think it’s fair that we are concerned.

Church made a nice play in the 3rd – showing excellent speed and flashing the leather on a ball in the gap. It was nice to see after the last year plus

Lost in the shuffle a bit was how good Heilman looked today…his change-up was fabulous…

Sanchez looked like he was trying to force it a little today…he got behind and grooved a fastball that was ripped for an RBI single. Couldn’t locate the fastball, but from my perspective it looked that way because he was overthrowing to try to get the velocity up. He looked frustrated.

I think it’s looking more and more like they’re inclined to go north with Wise, Register and Heilman with Feliciano and another lefty, with Sanchez building up arm strength in AAA for a while.

Guys…chill on the Delgado bashing. Do you realize that he recovered from a broken wrist? You all sound like you were expecting Babe Ruth to be hitting. That takes time to be comfortable with his swing, timing, and rythm. There are two weeks left in ST, and alot of guys don’t pick up the momentum until late April. If he’s consistently going 0 for with tons of K’s by mid April, then we need to hit the panic button, bcuz by that time it probably means that his confidence will never recover. OUT!
