Seriously…while I agree with Moze pointing out the “error” yesterday, I disagree with his glee and excitement in calling Matt out on this. Great, you noticed an error that everyone else noticed. In a.m. news before the Mets headed to Jupiter to face the Marlins:

Carlos Delgado and Carlos Beltran were late additions to the trip after Willie Randolph invited them into the manager’s office this morning. The Marlins plan to have the teams use a DH today. It’s still unresolved whether Beltran will play center or DH. Angel Pagan will fill whichever role Beltran doesn’t. … Brian Schneider said it should be a few days before he returns to a game, although he’s doing everything during workouts except running. Schneider’s right hamstring tightened again running after Monday’s game against the Red Sox. While he needs to get at-bats, Schneider said it’s better to sit out now because aggravating it with overactivity could affect the season. “I don’t see myself missing any time in the regular season,” Schneider said. … Marlon Anderson (bruised sternum/rib cage) hopes to return tomorrow. Luis Castillo still hopes to play tomorrow as well.

The likely reason that Duque will pitch a simulated game is that for some reason the Mets have no game on March 18th. (I guess they expect a lot of hangovers?) So there is no game for Pelfrey or Duque to pitch in, so we will at least see Duque in a simulated game and maybe Pelfrey as well if they want to keep him on a specific day.

Duque threw 60 pitches in his last session, so he isnt behind in that regard. However with no test of his effetiveness against real hitters they are not giving him much time to correct potential problems. My guess is that Duque will be good to go for the opening day roster, or retire because his new delivery is ineffective at getting batters out.

I’d prefer his goal to be ‘beat out 10 double plays’ than ‘10 stolen bases’… although of course ‘hit zero double play balls’ would be even better.

Of course I altered the post. You made a valid point, so I addressed it.

Again, your level of excitement for ripping on me and calling me out is a bit alarming, friend.

Also, I do not read every comment posted to this site. If I did, there would be no time to write content to it’s main page.

What you see as ignoring you, was actually me not even knowing you were upset about this.

In the future, e-mail me directly with this sort of concern – all of which I am happy to address.

By the way…I see you changed the comment by inserting the words “AS MUCH”….just to those being alerted to this for the first time, Matt’s original comment did not include these words…he explicitly stated originally that Duaner was not using his changeup and was just throwing fastball after fastball…

Good point about ST in general. Guys sit out with lots of minor stuff that they wouldn’t miss a regular season game for.

So when opening day hits, a lot of th eminor aches/pains seem to miraculously dissappear.
