"tell that to a rap artist’s face"... exactly. If it was about music and art alone... I'd be able to without getting shot.

I disagree... If George was such a holy man... why wasn't Dale Berra and the bunch of Yankee drug addicts under his wing. It was all to stain the Mets brand and make himself look good...

The Mets wanted nothing to do with him because the Wilpons wouldn't know good PR if it were wrapped around Jessica Alba.

The fans never left until they saw him in pinstripes.

Also, if you had read my "bad" post correctly, I drew a line between Dwight and Doc. He came back after 86 as "Doc" and was never the same.

Young and Clean was 84-85.

You ain't down with yourself tripping? Well I wouldn't think anyone is to be honest with you. And one idea for ya... tell that to a rap artist's face. What was classic rock? But songs about drugs and alcohol and sex. Exactly what is the difference here?

slightly off topic, but I was watching the phoenix suns and Daryls son, D.J Strawberry was playing. The announcers went on to show clips of his dad playing baseball, all in Yankee gear. Never once mentioned the Mets - So pathetic.

Gooden not only had his best years with the Mets but spent the majority of his career in a Met uniform and I'm amazed at how utterly clueless some writers are towards this fact. Baffling!

Ok, i thought your first post was bad (both times you posted it), but "we saw him when he was CLEAN"???

First time around these parts?

Doc missed the effing PARADE because he was too yayed up. I mean, i love Doc (as i said in my previous post), but he was blowin back then too.

If you knew the correct history, Mets wanted nothing to do with the guy until George Steinbrenner gave him a job both during and after his career and NEVER turned his back on him. Say what you will about the d*ck, but this was one of the only things i always liked about George, his ever-ending kindness towards a man when he was down.

Dwight needs to remember he's a Met and will always be one. We saw him when he was clean & great and we think of him as one of ours.

In 12 step, aren't you supposed to drop any bad influences in your life? He needs to drop his short term memory and realize Yankee fans don’t' care about him.

By attaching himself to the enemy, he’s hurting his baseball family. He was a Met for 10 years and had all his great moments (sans the Met No hitter curse at work) in our uniform, in our building and in front of us.

I also hate the media always bringing up the Yankee thing like a decade of greatness on the Mets never happened...

(same with Cone.. but that's another story)

Two problems with the Dwight article...

"Doc" Gooden was a Yankee... but Dwight Gooden, THE Dwight Gooden never played in Yankee stadium. He was my favorite player on the Mets back in the day and I remember him being replaced by some guy named "Doc" who's curveball wasn't as good.

Next, Rap isn't music. It's talking OVER music. Kind of like if you're listening to a nice groove, but suddenly find yourself in 6th grade and some loud mouth wants attention and starts saying stupid things until all you hear his him.

Translation:
Word dawg why I be trippin? I ain't down with that aight?
