Willie Randolph told reporters yesterday that Orlando Hernandez will throw another simulated game, before pitching in a live game.
…meaning, we should not expect to see him on a mound in a real game until the last week of spring training…which is why i still believe he’ll remain in St. Lucie, when camp breaks for opening day…
Brian Schneider is back on the sidelines with a tight, right hamstring. However, he told WFAN yesterday that he expects to be back in action when the team returns home this weekend.
Scott Schoeneweis is battling a tight hamstring as well, though it has yet to keep him from pitching.
Luis Castillo told reporters on Tuesday that he intends to play at home on Saturday.

…great picture, guys…i understand Fred Wilpon was a huge Dodgers fan…i get it, and i respect that…however, speaking as a Mets fan, if Citi Field was going to be a bit of a throwback to the old New York parks of yesteryear, it would have been nice to incorporate parts of the Polo Grounds as well, not just Ebbetts, which gives Citi a Dodgers-only feel…and the Mets are not the Dodgers…

Marty Noble at MLB.com writes about the impact fatherhood has had on Carlos Beltran.
“Beltran’s expression changes when he speaks of his new level of happiness and the daughter responsible for it. A soft glow develops and sincerity takes over. Smiles last longer and are more plentiful. He appears younger and gentler and far less circumspect. In clubhouse parlance, he is looser.”
...i love articles like this…i feel like way too often people look at players as money grubbing, moving statistics and forget they are human beings with lives outside of baseball that could certainly influence their performance on the field…regardless of if this has any impact on beltran’s play i’m extremely happy for carlos and his family and wish them the best of luck…
