I've always barked he was done after the second half of his first year with us. That his post season that year was his last hurrah rising to the occassion after finally getting into the playoffs for the first time. He was awful last year, but his numbers were better then any available option since any trade chips we had we needed to save to get Johan this past offseason. I'm gonna just hope I'm wrong and he either bounces back for one last lap or does just enough not to kill us. Then get Tiexiera next offseason. It's so easy spending other peoples money. (His 2006 year was excellent.) He had a fine second half last year. He is unlikely to return to the MVP-caliber seasons of his youth. He is now 35 going on 36. He may be on the inevitable downslide--it's certainly possible. But how about we give him a couple of dozen at bats before we bury him? I dont want the mets to be handcuffed to bringing delgado back because of lack of options. dunn has alot of power and is great but doesnt he strike out alot??
