“Is it any wonder Heilman wants to be a starter or a closer? He’s posted a 3.27 ERA in 281 innings the last three years, yet he does no better here than he would have if he had a 5.00 ERA in 400 innings as a starting pitcher. Brad Hennessey, who recorded 19 saves last season, just received $1.6 million and he hasn’t been as effective as Heilman in any of his three seasons. Nothing is going to change until more setup man start bringing their cases to arbitration and doing their best to show they deserve more money.”
