Anderson, SC is just a few miles where Joe Jackson grew up. While playing the Anderson semi-pro team (Jackson played for Greenville's semi-pro team), well, I'll let Jackson recount it... They picked it up and started calling me Shoeless Joe all around the league, and it stuck. The Binghamton Mets collected five hits and scored their first two runs of the spring, finishing in a 2-2 tie Saturday against the Springfield Cardinals, the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. The Mets plated both runs in the third inning. Daniel Murphy scored Jose Coronado on an RBI triple, one of his two hits in the game. Mike Carp, who went 1-for-4, drove Murphy home. Edward Kunz, the New York Mets' top pick in last year's draft, tossed two scoreless innings and racked up two strikeouts for the B-Mets.
