They need a healthy player with ML experience behind the plate for the first six weeks of the season. Furthermore, the A's jerked Piazza around, asking him to switch to catcher because they wanted to keep Cust's bat in the lineup. He didn't want to - not that he wasn't able to. As I've said, the Mets aren't calling him, so it's moot. The Mets don’t need Piazza to play everyday, 100 games or even start 30 games. Wake up and smell the coffee, and let's get Piazza in the HOF one year earlier by hanging up his boots now.
