Wouldn’t mind seeing him back as a coach. He could even take over for Willie if the need arises! He does have actual managerial experience (in the winter leagues).

it IS a cut, but when you get stitches it has to heal before you can do anything to avoid it re-opening. im not a doctor but im sure you dont want to risk infection either by getting the cut dirty. ive only gotten stiches once, in HS, and i remember my doctor telling me i couldnt play the next day bc i would risk infection. i played anyway but it was a very big game (playoffs) im sure delgado would be out there if this were september but its not.

I didnt copy that quote because it sounds like Valentin has conceded he is retiring, which isnt the case… yet.

Could make Willie’s decision for him… at least it makes the team a little younger if the ‘stache is done. Also removes us having to find out the hard way if he has any range left at this point.

Also, looking at his quote from that article really makes it hard to cast him as selfish:

“Just give a chance to a young kid, give him a chance to earn some money,” Valentin said. “My career has been good enough. I’ll go to Plan B — coach, be with my family. Live ‘La Vida Loca.’ Have fun.”

Sounds more like self-aware than selfish to me.

well I’ll agree with that part of it…

Valentin’s recent comments about not going to AAA are what lead to the selfish comment. The Mets have no need for Valentin or Gotay in the OF with Marlon Anderson and Endy on the team. And I have confidence that Gotay could play 1B if needed, which he isnt.

Valentin is better than Gotay in areas where the Mets would have either one of them at 4th or 5th on the depth chart. Why are you debating those points where there are relivent ones to discuss?

No one ever critiqued Omar (only sang his praises) until the Mets began losing (to the Cardinals in ’06 and in September of ’07). Before that he was a genius.
