amLinks: Linden, Roundtable, Avoidance
By Matthew Cerrone - Mar 19, 2008 7:49 am

In a report for , Ted Berg explains why he believes A’s OF Todd Linden would be a good acquisition for the Mets.

Berg concludes his column by writing:

“This is the sixth column I’ve written in 2008 dedicated to the Mets’ need for a backup outfielder with power, which I’ve admitted all along is only a minor concern in the grand scheme of things. I desperately need the games to start counting.”

i agree…to me, this is the worst part of the spring…it’s like a wasteland between the meaningless and meaningful…no worries, though, Opening Day is just 12 days away

The Brooklyn Met Fan gives credit to the Yankees.

Last night at the Happy Recap, Jason from Faith and Fear, Eric from Amazin Avenue, Steve from Eddie Kranepool, and Joe from Metsmerized took part in an online roundtable about the Mets.

Meanwhile, in a post to Big League Stew at Yahoo!, ‘Duk lists the top things being lost at this year’s spring training games.

Lastly, at his Yankees blog for the Journal News, Peter Abraham lists 10 People to Avoid at the Ballpark.

…11th on pete’s list should be the actual Yankees…avoid at all cost, friend…they’ll steal your soul

that Peter Abraham is a tool. What a waste of proverbial internet space that post was. Way to tell everyone what not to do at a ballgame. The seats should have seatbelts on them.

If you go to a ballgame why shouldnt you have a couple of drinks and enjoy yourself. He comes off as a no-frills no-fun type of guy.

Todd Linden? Is Ted serious? Has he ever seen the guy play? Linden couldn’t hit the broadside of a burning barn with a beachball. And he’s not very good in the field either.

Linden looks good to me. Better than Brady clark most likely. And who knows, when Alou goes down for th eyear, he could end up playing everyday, and might actually amount to something.

The A’s are cheap. Try to just buy him for $$ (whatever you are allowed to do), or some toolsy A ball guy that beane might like.

hard to ignore his AAA numbers, and some guys just take time to put it all together in the show.

People who are on their cellphones and wave to the cameras
are intolerable. Isn’t there some kind of cell phone jamming
devise somebody sitting behind home plate can carry?
Um…. the security check people might get the wrong idea….
never mind.

funny thing about that. My son told me yesterday that some kid at school bought one (totally illegal, i am sure) off the internet. He was using it in class and screwing up everyones phone.

of course, that led to the awkward question about why everyone in English class was texting instead of paying attention…

he said it had a 30 foot range.

If we can buy low, get good value, and put him in AAA, it’s a great move.

If he repeats history, does great in AAA, and then bombs on the Mets, would we have to waive him in order to move him back to AAA? I would guess he would be out of options. If so, it’s a slightly risky move.
