Health: Hamstrings and more Hamstrings
By Matthew Cerrone - Mar 19, 2008 8:03 am

Yesterday afternoon, Ramon Castro told reporters that he will likely miss the next three or four days, while resting his strained right hamstring.

Meanwhile, Brian Schneider, who is also nursing a strained right hamstring, told reporters he hopes to play tonight against the Indians.

…frankly, i prefer he be safe and wait a few more days…why push it, especially with castro being in the same boat

In the Journal News and MLB.com, John Delcos and Marty Noble write about the team’s effort to piece together a lineup.

I love how Schneider taught Pelfrey the same pitch he hit for a “two base triple” and HR yesterday… Very Sly Schneider…. very sly

It’s coming to the point where they might ask Sandy Alomar Jr. to come out of retirement and catch. I rather them be cautious as well and sit them out until they are fully healthy. I just hope this doesn’t linger into the regular season though.

just read the piece by Noble on El Duque. Not exactly flattering, and certainly doesn’t paint the picture of a guy that a team should bend over backwards to accomdate.

I guess I understand the logic Omar had for bringing back Alou and Duque, but it would be nice if he could have a Mulligan! I guess there really aren’t good options for either spot though, so hopefully they can milk some vlaue out of each spot.

Next year though, clear out the old age home (other than Pedro if he pitches well). Alou, Easley, Delgado, Duque, all need to be long gone.

is “hamstring injury” an alternative to saying “i have to catch 120 games this year, so i’ll take some time off now”?

hamstring injury means “While my wife was going to yoga
class every day, I was sitting in a fishing boat”.

At what point do we decide to fire out strength and conditioning coaches? I’ve had enough of these leg injuries!!

  7. 7-train says:

This many hamstring and quad injuries suggests that the guys either aren’t stretching enough or they are getting dehydrated.

I’ve had questions about the Mets strength and conditioning program for years now with all of these seemingly avoidable injuries they get.
