By Evan Drellich - Mar 21, 2008 7:28 pm

Mets Weekly’s first episode of the season premieres at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow on SNY.

The first installment features new host Jocelyn Pierce’s bowling trip with John Maine and Joe Smith, as well as:

  • A look at the impact Johan Santana has made on the players and fans at spring training
  • Brian Schneider and Ryan Church’s view of the Mets’ 2007 collapse from Nationals uniforms
  • And some of the cars the Mets have been using to get to camp

…if i’m recalling correctly, Pedro Martinez’s no. 45 can be seen in the wheels of his Aston Martin…sweet…

Who cares about the players? I just wanna see Mrs. Pierce’s sexy ass.

  2. Slob says:

I’m just gonna call her Hawkeye, is that ok?

You know what Shawn Green is still available and he can play first and corner outfield. If you just throw him a contact based on incentives and maybe a minor league option it would be a good move.

hes officially retired. plus, he’s not gonna come out of retirement for an east coast team. don’t you think the mets would have loved him back over church?

      repeat after me….

shawn green is not a right handed bat therefore he does not solve the mets’ main concern.

my god, let’s throw out names for the sake of saying names.

we’re not getting nady or thames or inge. all the gms know the mets’ situation and would take omar over the coals to make a deal. unless you’re willing to trade niese and/or heilman, the answer will be coming from within in the version of a temporary fix a la clark, easley or anderson.

  4. Deaner says:

everyone on this site seems to idealize nady as if he’s some sort of missing link or something

    i don’t get it

I love that my DVR’s still set to tape new Mets Weekly’s. Can’t wait to see John Maine. He’s just a joy to watch in any situation, whether humbly pitching a near no-hitter, or aw-shuxing his way through an interview. He’s perhaps our most likeable Met other than David Wright. We’re lucky to have the dude.

Funny that they’re featuring the players’ cars on the show. I’m in PSL right now, and was hanging around the players’ lot after the game today to see what cars they were driving. Sickest ride I saw was the bright red completely tricked out Hummer. And I don’t even think a player was driving it lol. Couldn’t tell who half the drivers were since most of their windows are tinted almost completely black lol.

Anyone know who will start on Thursday against the Bravos on ESPN?

  8. Number41 says:

    Should be Ollie’s turn, no?
    QUICKPOLL:
    Will the Mets
    A) Make a trade for a LF/1B player or
    B) Go to battle with the roster on board?

  9. SamInNorthCakalakey says:

    Going with what they have.

Mets Weekly is just too touchy-feely for my hardcore baseball fandom needs. Am I the only one who feels this way or is Mets Weekly regular viewing for any of you? Personally, I put it on int he background while I’m doing something else like paying the bills.

Does anyone have a sense whether SNY would consider adding an in-season weekly recap and analysis show similar to the off-season Mets Hot Stove? I TiVo Hot Stove and when the season starts I then TiVo shows like FSN Baseball Report and ESPN Baseball Tonight often fast forwarding to the Mets highlights and NL East analysis. I would prefer a similar Mets recap show each week that focused on the Mets and the NL East.

I like shows like Mets Weekly because it gets us back to the “fun” aspect of baseball – what it’s supposed to be about anyway. There’s so much number-crunching and stern speculation that sports stations almost become more like CNBC than anything else at times. It’s a breath of fresh air to have a more fun show about the Mets, so that’s why I like it. What other show would have a whole segment dedicated to looking back at Turk Wendell’s lunacy? Lol.

I wouldn’t mind a show like you proposed either, though. It would be nice to have two options.

    • beltran the warrior says:

agreed. mets weekly is pure cheese.
