If that’s the case, which I believe it is , even more reason to put Vargas & Burgos on the 60-day DL, right?

It all has to do with spots on the roster. If you’re on the 60-day DL, you don’t count as a spot on the 40-man roster, and obviously, if you’re on the 15-day DL, you’re not counted on the 25-man roster since someone usually takes your place.

I would say that when you need a cortisone shot in your neck, that’s a sure sign that you are teetering on the brink.

I do not understand the 15 day and 60 day dl rules but it seems clear that Burgos and Vargas are out longer than 15 days. Burgos will not be seen until June or July at the earliest and then only for the beginning of a throwing program (2more months after that before possibly ready).

As to Vargas…he is going for surgery or just did in Colorado for his hip issue. Seems like much longer than just 15 days for him.

I get it for Alou as he is likely closer to returning (less than 60 days).

What advantage does it give the team if any to put these known injured guys like Amby and Vargas on just the 15 day dl rather than the 60 day dl?
