adropofvenom: The dude was rushed to the majors at age 21 before he was ready, and that hurt his development. Even so, he put up okay numbers in his first year in the majors. Those numbers I posted earlier showed that the guy could hit, and hit well, before the Royals screwed him up, as they've screwed up many of their prospects over the past decade. As a Met, he showed some pop and I saw him have a lot of quality at-bats where he worked deep counts.

MrMetsLuvChild,

Just to be clear...

Cerrone doesnt post retractions....

He hardly ever says "I made a mistake"...

He simply goes in, changes the information (with no time-stamped edit), and deletes user posts that call him out on his misinformation....

So the life of our posts here is winding down, as I am sure he will delete them and make an edit to the Gotay post once he notices what is going on....problem is, he doesnt have as much time to devote to the blog anymore since Metsblog became affiliated with SNY

I'm berating Matt because he steals information that other people find and posts it as his own, and this time he got caught in the lie.

So in your mind if Matt did make an error, that makes him a "JackAss"? Every Newspaper in America has retractions everyday due to sources who provide incorrect information. Until YOU can do as Good of a Job at running a Blog such as this, as Matt does everyday, then you should keep your small minded comments to yourself. To come on here and berate Matt over a mistake pretty much makes YOU the JackAss!

Padilla and Burgos are hurt so they aren't in the equation. pelfrey isn't ready, Armas Jr. has been here a few days, Vargas is probably a AAAA Pitcher and Joe Smith while good versus righties is a luxury we probably cannot afford.

The only thing Matt Stokes is good for is for the pupose he has served to date, an extra arm to eat up innings in Spring Training. By no means is he a member of a championship bullpen. I would much rather keep a youngster with potential or someone such as Figueroa who can be a swing man if we ever need an emergency start. Keeping Matt Stokes makes no sense at all.

This is not true.

The first time a player hits the waiver wire in the season, it's revocable.

If the player has options, they don't hit the waiver wire at all.

Wouldn't have to keep him all year, it's just that if he ever clears waivers, Colorado gets dibs on him.

I'm slightly surprised as I don't see the harm in letting him fill in until Dirty's arm is fully up to strength and then DFAing him.

Clearing waivers would trigger the Rule V, not remove it.

That's the point at which the Rockies would choose whether to pay the $25k and put him anywhere in their organization, or let the Mets keep him.

I can't imagine him staying a Met.

I am not a Metsblog reader, I was referred here for this story when somebody claimed that Gotay was, indeed, placed on waivers and felt like I should try to set the record straight.
