It’s the psychology of all obsessive fans covering many types of sports. It’s not just Mets fans. You see the same response from Yankees fans, Red Sox fans, Phillies fans, etc. You don’t see it in those venues where they don’t give a flying beep about their team or are extremely laid back. However, there is one exclusion from this list. The St. Louis fans seem to support their players through good and bad times.

it’s the psychology of the mets fan. when they expect nothing from you and you’re decent they love you (nady, gotay, pagan). if they expect a lot from you and you’re very good, but not babe ruth they hate you (beltran)
