During Tuesday’s broadcast, SNY’s Kevin Burkhardt and Keith Hernandez took live phone calls from fans between the sixth and seventh inning.
…during which, keith slugged down a soda and ate a sandwich…on camera…priceless…this live call-in segment is interesting…i’d be lying if i said it was anything short of awkward, at first, but i am eager to see how it will play during games when we can all call keith to get his take on a specific play that may have occurred only a few moments before the call…obviously, SNY will not take calls during play, nor between every inning…it will be once in a while, and depending on the content of the call i believe this could actually be useful and insightful…
For more on SNY’s live in-game calls, read Bob Raissman in the Daily News.
Speaking of media, according to the Daily News, Billy Wagner will appear as a once-a-week guest during the The Michael Kay Show.
…per…fect…lo duca, who…WFAN, what…at any rate, wagner will fit right in…wagner should do these interviews standing up, making it more difficult for him to put his foot in his mouth…
…by the way, i hope this puts the Mets one step closer to ditching WFAN, since their contract with the station is up after this season…i’d welcome a move to ESPN 1050…
Speaking of WFAN, check out the following clip from his show on March 7, during which he states, “I like Barndon Inge, a lot,” 13 times in two and a half minutes.
…wait, you mean francesa repeats himself…no kidding…i hadn’t noticed that…heh, imagine that…

I for one would like the Mets to remain on WFAN because I can pick up the broadcasts when I’m in the car. The signal on 1050 is weak.
I have the opposite problem. For some reason, WFAN is really weak in my neighborhood in Queens (even though I could probably jog to their studios from my house), and yet ESPN comes in crystal clear. Go fig.
That is very weird – i have gotten FAN in Boston, in Syracuse area (I went to Colgate undergrad) and in Virginia – crystal clear, especially at night!
Sometimes I hear Christmas music over 1050 in the Richmondtown neighborhood of Staten Island, not joking.
i get 660 clear as a bell at night time in baltimore MD and clear enough to listen to during the day so id prefer 660 over 1050.
I pick it up clearly in Columbus, OH at night in the summer so I can hear the games. I have picked it up as far west as Indy while visiting friends. A 1050 move would not be good for all those who do not live in NY and do not have SNY or any other way to hear/see the Mets play aside from ESPN/TBS/WGN, etc.
Speakin of WFAN whats the deal with Willie appearing on Mike and the Dog this year? I keep on hearing spots for Joe GIrardi, but nothing about Willie for some reason. Maybe he didn’t sign his deal yet?
get XM, and yo don’t get the fan, but you do get all the games.
I have gotten the Fan in VA and upstate NY where I live. 1050 fluctuates between the sports talk station and some sweet oldies tunes….not so sweet when im trying to listen to rangers games though haha.
Stick with the Fan, despite M-MD who are both noting but haters….
Same here – I get WFAN crystal clear in DC, and even used to get reception all the way down in Atlanta sometimes. Of course, I will probably continue to the either the MLB internet package, or someday the Extra Innings deal when I have some disposable income, but it’s nice to be able to listen in the car.
I get the baltimore espn radio better then i do new yorks. Stick with FAN
DCMetsfan:
The Extra Innings package is only like $50 more than the MLB internet deal.
shea geuvara,
Thats actually not all that unusual, when extremely close to the origin of the radio waves, you lose reception. Cant explain the science on that one but i figure that when the tower emits the waves they may shoot right over your head, so to speak.
I’m not sure why Cerrone is hating on WFAN so much. Besides that fact that WFAN has a much stronger signal (which I used to get down as far south as Maryland when I was in college) the only two idiots that are Met-haters are M&MD. Boomer & Carton, Joe & Evan, the Schmoozer are all Mets fans. Plus, as much as I can’t stand M&MD sometimes, they make for great radio and it’s great to root against them.
Lastly, I can’t stand the “Worldwide Leader” and all they represent. The last thing I’d want to do is to support their ratings by being forced to listen to Met games on their station.
Michael Kay aggrevates the hell out of me… that whole station does… horrible…
i would not want the mets to move.. plus we would probably lose howie rose, whom i like with the mets and islanders.
you have to listen to michael kay (yankee homer), stephen a. smith (blow hard), and espn cronies…
no thanks.
couldn’t agree more. ESPN stinks. Talk about an anti-Met, ESPN is so anti-Met and anti-New York. ESPN radio is unbearable. M&MD can be obnoxious, but I would take them any day of the week over listening to the jerks on ESPN.
Matt, you should do a poll on this!
It’s very obvious Mike and the Maddog are bored of their jobs. Today they were complaining that they didn’t want to talk about spring training anymore, and they’ve been mentioning that pretty much everyday.
However, most of the rest of the hosts are pretty good.
ESPN Radio however, is a joke. Michael Kay is a complete Yankee homer. Steven Smith is a racist idiot.
The biggest reason though, is WFAN broadcasts via a multidimensional signal, while 1050 is one direction. The difference in quality is like light and day. I would be disgusted if they switched, because there would be so so many times that the signal would be crappy and we’d lose the game, whether it’s tall buildings, tunnels, orj ust distance. There is nothing like returning from a road trip and flipping on WFAN as the signal slowly gets stronger and the game comes in clearer and clearer. You’d be almost back from Philly by the time 1050 came in.
agree, need to keep on the Fan. I get the station up here on Cape Cod and without it, I would be stuck listening to Red Sox nation crap. The Mets need to stay on the Fan in order to remain in touch with their fanbase outside of NYC
Gotta love Tony P. AND the Schmooze. True blue New Yawkers and Mets fans.
When I leave NYC, I’m going to need that WFAN signal.
you are right, I think the only AM signal stronger is WABC where the Yankees play, this is why ESPN radio will have a tough time getting either one
Matt,
Please don’t ever, ever, ever post clips of these two morons on your blog. It is beneath you and it is beneath us. Just the still image from that clip was enough to make me feel nauseous.
Please remove it immediately and we can forget it ever happened.
this call in thing is lame. The viewers ask embarrassingly
lame questions. there has got to be something more interesting
to broadcast. like another commercial.
While we’re on the subject of radio…
I suggest the Schmooz getting a show on SNY where they broadcast his radio program.
Listening to him is bad enough, I don’t want to see him too
Blasphemer!
dude, captain midnight is a radio god…
Good afternoon and how you beeeeeeee
He is ok to listener to in the summer b/c he likes the Mets but I hate him in the winter b/c he bashes the Islanders. Keep him off TV though he has a face for radio.
Nothing beats his opening skits when he’s telling you what happened in a particular game and then he randomly plays a sound clip of a turning point of a game… Priceless
ya mean something like THIS . . .
Steve is the best! You can’t get a personality like that on national radio. It doesn’t work. He’s passionate about our local sports, and whether he shares your aligences or not, his perspective is more insightful about your local team than a national personality would be. Plus he’s so creative, funny and entertaining. National syndication is so damn watered down and homongized.
That’s where ESPN goes wrong. Their in the business of spewing unsubstantiated claims to draw ratings. National personalities don’t know enough about individual teams to make accurate analysis. That’s why it’s so frustrating to listen to these idiots make blanket statements about our teams that often are not true while passionate fans that follow the team on a daily basis (like many NY fans) scream and pull their hair out when someone like McCarver, Morgan or [INSERT NAME OF ESPN PERSONALITY HERE] waxes eloquent about our team. Because they’re so often dead wrong!
Maybe, I’m sentimental about WFAN because I’ve listened to these guys since I was a kid, but I can’t stand the thought of ESPN taking over the NY sports radio market. The thought of it makes me want to puke! To me WFAN symbolizes local New York color and great radio and ESPN symbolizes pablum.
Steve’s the best already!
I’d love for them to televise the Schmooze, but I think part of his allure is hearing h im thru the radio
They could even put a still image on the screen while it’s on. You are right about it being more effective through the airwaves.
Even a show with just the audio has to be better than some of the shows SNY has on there.
Did he just say Inge is a better 3b than Wright?
Wow.
He also said next year they should move Wright to first and Inge to third.
Wow.
What bone-heads. These 2 do not deserve to be on-air.
if next years FA class had a nice 3bmen that could help the team alot id move wright to 1st i dont think that would be a big deal but for inge no freakin way.
To be fair, Inge IS a better defensive 3b then Wright. That’s without me knowing the context of what they are talking about, though.
I completely agree. I cannot get 1050 when I’m in certain parts of the island.
Besides learning that Mike likes Inge a lot, I also learned that Inge is a better third baseman than our all-star/gold glover David Wright. Great.
Going over to 1050 would be a disaster! Streaming it online is near impossible. When it works (which isn’t always, like WFAN.com), it works for 30 minutes or so, and then it drops. You can’t get it to reload without restarting your computer, and that doesn’t work all the time.
Mike and the Maddog might not be perfect, but honestly, guys, do you really want to listen to the homer Michael Kay gush over the Yanks and snub the Mets all day?
Gee-whiz.
Inge is by easily better deafenslivley third than Wright but Inge cant even come close to competing with wrigh as a hitter.
It’s not that hard to say that Wright isn’t the best defender in the world. I haven’t watch Inge play, so I won’t say he’s a better defender or not, but this has to be said: you don’t only play defense in the bigs. If so, I’d be an all-star. (2 errors in three varsity years in HS at 3B.)
That is even arguable. I think Wright is the better fielder. He makes amazing plays with his glove. A majority of his errors come off the throw. This is why he won the Gold Glove in 07′.
Inge is good defensively, but thats about it. He would add nothing to this team.
Wright is also a great defender, not quite on the same level as Inge was last year, but still one of the best in the league.
Inge didn’t have a great season with the glove last year, and on balance was similar defensively to Wright for the year.
Inge: RZR .712 OOZ 63
Wright: RZR .689 OOZ 88
Inge has also made 1 more error than Wright over the last three years.
Inge’s best defensive year is clearly way better than Wright’s, but I know who I’d rather have on my team – the hitter, leader & non-moaner.
You are also forgetting another key stat – OOZ, or out of zone plays made. Because Wright has great range to his left, it allows Reyes to shade more toward the middle, cutting down that hole. (for the record, Wright 88 OOZ plays were the 2nd best in all of baseball, behind Ichiro’s 97. As for 3rd basemen, he was obviously the top, with Zimmerman’s 71 plays made the second highest mark.
Is anybody listening to Russo the dope right now. Thank God Francesa is actually on the Mets side. How this guy ever graduated from college is beyond me
He was interviewing the NY Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro (who was face to face) and was mispronouncing his name right in front of him!!! called him Rick Dipierno… EMBARASSINGGG
Rollins College 4 Life
With mike and the mad dog it seems like any shortstop they talk about always ends with….”better hitter then reyes”
And that whole santana thing at the press conference was ridiculous. The guy just signs with the mets after they claimed he would never be there in the first place, And they swallow up interview time by trying to get him to admit he rather have been somewhere else. Mets should go to espn radio.
Speaking of Mike and the Maddog, did anyone hear the conversation they had for the last 10 minutes?
They were debating the Braves vs the Mets and Chris was ripping the Mets, saying the Braves had a MUCH better lineup and comparable pitching. They went position by position (which never makes sense) and he gave the Braves a huge edge at first, catcher, RF and 2nd base….then he gave the Mets a big edge at CF, edge at 3rd and then….
he said Yunel Escobar is a MUCH better hitter than Reyes. Mike brought up the runs produced for Reyes, and all Chris said was how he hit .325 last year in 125 games (even though it was only 94). Mike kept saying, define better offensive player, and Chris goes hes a much better hitter. He is so clueless sometimes.
I have not been able to listen to WFAN via WFAN.com for awhile now. for like 2 months it worked fine and then one day I click on listen live and nothing. Very frustating, I was hoping to listen to opening day at work.
You cant. MLB blocks games being called on the radio to force you to order there package.
come on dude, it’s $15 on mlb.com. don’t be cheap.
That still doesn’t explain why he can’t listen to the FAN stream now. Your computer mus be messed up or something. WFAN’s stream is notorious for having intermittent problems, but 2 months is a long time to be out, even for the FAN. Check your computer’s settings, software, etc.
I remember when the games were free on the FAN back when the internet was in its infancy. I think it was 2001, I was living in Florida, and they used to stream them for nothing. $15 bucks is cheap, of course, but still, it’s the principle…
I think we are in a predicament as Mets fans.
WFAN has some very anti-Mets hosts (but they do have others, like the Schmooze, Boomer and Caron, Joe B, etc. that are big fans), but the signal is great and there is history.
ESPN is a bit more up-and-coming, but there are few Mets supporters, and Kay, while a good radio guy, is so blatantly a Yankee shill that it gets annoying. And their signal is lousy, as it was pointed out above.
I would stay where we are, to be honest.
Kay’s not a good radio guy. The only thing Kay does well is CenterStage. He was good when he did the games on the radio opposite Sterling, but he’s become completely unlistenable since then, be it as a TV announcer for the games or as a radio sports host. He does excel at the CenterStage interviews, though. That format is where his strength is.
if you have problems with wfan.com, use itunes, there is a link for wfan in the radio section under sports
Thank you for the suggestion but iTunes is blocked here at my job by the gestapo.
haha…don’t the MAN keep you down. They just blocked si.com over here. It’s killing me.
If you think WFAN has anti-Mets talking heads, have you listened to 1050? Their three main personalities, Steven A. Smith, Michael Kay and Brandon Tierney are all Yankee fans. They don’t have a main show hosted by anyone with any Mets affiliation. So its not any better over there.
Yup – Kellerman too….
Screamin A. Smith
HAHAHAHAH
I think Michael Kay’s sidekick Don La Greca is a Mets fan
i like inge a lot.
I don’t like mike ‘n the maddog, but I love the schmooze and listening to both Mets baseball and Giants football.
I would be upset if the mets moved away from WFAN
I agree with everyone else on WFAN…..while i’m up here near Hartford, there’s no station other than WFAN carrying the Mets. I can’t watch the games unless they air on CW20, Fox 61 or ESPN, my cable company (comcast) outright REFUSES to carry SNY. So my only option is to stream the games through MLB or listen on XM since WFAN’s signal is prone to a ton of interference up here for some reason.
Look, WFAN isn’t perfect….but as pointed out in previous posts, its a Mets station generally speaking….with mike and the mad dog being the lone exception.
As for ESPN 1050, its barely audible up here in CT and ESPN wasn’t too kind to the mets when Johan decided to play for us, so as far as i’m concerned….the lesser of two evils is WFAN….so let’s keep the mets there.
mikey’s gonna get the papers, gonna get the papers.
Jimmy Two-Times???
There should be a daily post on metsblog about Mike and the Mad Dog and something ridiculous they said that day. I love bashing them…but at the same time, I still listen to them.
If there was a messageboard, like there should be, it would be easy to do.
like Bill Simmons said a couple months ago…… these two make me so angry, but I can’t seem to turn the channel
Head over to mikefrancesa dot com. Daily bashing. The funniest site around.
1050?!!! Oh God no.
ESPN 1050 Boooooooo! Boooooooo!
These guys are two complete dopes who wouldn’t know who the starting lineups for any MLB team was if it wasn’t for their producers.
The reason why we continue to listen is because its so entertaining to hear how clueless they are.
While I wish we could actually get some intelligent hosts who actually follow and understand baseball, the fact that WFAN is such a clear signal is the only reason why I would not like to see a move to ESPN, other than the fact that Michael Kay has NO redeeming factors, other than the entertainment of how often he, like Mike and the Mad Dog, put his foot in his mouth.
If the Mets move to ESPN, get used to Brandon Tierney doing to pre/post game and filling in- that guy is so not talented, but for some reason ESPN has him do everything.
I am firmly against the Mets leaving WFAN. First, I’m in Baltimore and I have the ability to get the WFAN signal at night and even during the day sometimes. I have enough trouble getting the ESPN signal for the Baltimore station much less for the NY station.
Second of all, I love the “Let’s Go Mets… F-A-N, da da da” at the end of every inning.
Cerrone, why do you hate FAN so much? This seems to be a new thing.
I hear ya. My parents live in the Carolinas, and I’ve gotten a signal at night down there before.
I agree… nothing fires me up more than the “lets go mets…. f-a-n” especially after a huge strike-out to strand a runner or an inning ending double play.
They could still do it, but it would have to be “Lets Go Mets….ES-PN da da da!”
Balt -
I completely agree about the “F-A-N da da daaaa” thing being awesome
when the mets were god awful, my friends and I would punch an inanimate object on the “da”
I really hope they do not switch to 1050. The signal and the hosts are both god awful. I really enjoy every one of WFAN’s hosts except for M&MD, though I do listen to them at work.
But I wouldn’t mind except for the horrible signal. South of exit 13 on the NJ Turnpike the static/music starts, and by the time I get down to Old Bridge (central NJ) the station is unlistenable. The only way I can listen to Rangers games is on XM or when they are put on overflow 770 AM which has a great signal.
Meanwhile I got WFAN all the way down in West Palm Beach, Florida last month at night. Some static of course, but more listenable than 1050 is in CENTRAL NJ!
So far today you have attacked others for
1) Grammar (and, as many noted, you were incorrect in your stated attack)
2) Repetition
Here’s a hint: you’re guilty of both, constantly. It seems like no one on this site understands “their”, “they’re” and “there”.
The arrogance around here is starting to bother me. I’m also getting tired of the SNY-paid opinion. You’ve never stated the editorial control that SNY now holds and how they edit your opinions to better reflect theirs.
sincerely,
Lloyd Bonafide
then feel free to not visit the site
I’ll feel free to do whatever I please. I don’t need your suggestions to come up with things to do.
Thank you very much.
sincerely,
Lloyd Bonafide
oh wow, Bud Dickman is back…and amazingly, still a dick…
The only thing that bothers me about Matt’s grammar is that he refuses to capitalize his “I’s”
SERENITY NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
why would the mets ever go to 1050? talk about anti-met, the only guys that actually show the mets some love are don lagreca, jody mac, bill dougherty, and maybe another person.
and just to show how much they love the yankees, they did a 10-hour show in 2006 on whether torre was getting fired or not, while there were still another Ny team in the playoffs.
thats 1050 in a nutshell
ESPN is garbage.
MATT
WHO IS BARNDON INGE?
I SEARCHED GOOGLE AND ALL THAT CAME UP WAS THIS PAGE, NOT A BASEBALL PLAYER, WHAT THE HECK DUUUDE?
I finally turned off Mike and the Dog after lisetning to Russo scream for 20 minutes about the Braves’ lineup being better (it may be, but not as much as he’s making it out to be). I can take argumentation, but all Russo does is scream. He has absolutely no knowledge of the game beyond the Giants – I mean I heard the guy going through the NL Central lineups, and its obvious he doesn’t know anything about these players beyond the most surface-level analysis. Jason Bay stinks? Come on.
What is Mike talking about? Igne better than Wright? 19 Million Dollars? What? What?
I get the feeling Mike likes Inge…a lot
I want to smack his buttchecks
Don’t you mean “Slap” his buttcheeks?
LOL, Whenever that guy calls and says that, i laugh my a$$ off!
I hope the Mets don’t move from WFAN for two reasons. 1) In Jersey, 1050 ESPN comes in awful. Secondly, FAN would probably get the Yankees since their sister station WCBS now carries them. That would be exactly what Francesa would want. And even though the two misfits hate the Mets, just about every other host on that station loves them. Boomer and Carton, Begnigno and Roberts, Stever Sommers – all Mets fans.
WFAN is fine… outside of Francessa, I like everyone on the station, including the Angry Puppy. Francessa is too arrogant to be on the air. He thinks he is better than everyone else, and that what he has to say is so relevant. I hope he chokes on the barrel full of Diet Coke he brings in every day… fat slob…
As far as Kay goes, I’d rather not listen to any talk to him. He’s such a Yankee fan, and he doesn’t hide it well. He and John Sterling should be gay lovers.
Besides, if the Mets move to 1050 ESPN Radio, I won’t get them in Albany anymore. Unless 104.5 The Team (ESPN’s channel up here) simulcasts.
I actually liked this post by Matt and would love to see more clips showing idiotic comments from these two buffoons.
It’s much more entertaining than discussing Gotay vs Tatis for the 25th roster spot
Mets games are broadcast on foxsports 980 in Albany.
NO 1050!!!!!!!! Please! I’m in Morris County, NJ, and the station doesn’t come in out here. I’m literally less than 20 miles as the crow flies from lower Manhattan, and the great ESPN sports network can’t even get a signal to me. Granted, they simulcast the Knicks games on a local AM station (1250 WMTR), but still, their signal is ridiculous, and the Knicks aren’t nearly as important to me as the Mets. The FAN, for all its problems with basically no morning and midday shows to speak of, (both shows are unlistenable, IMO) and the continuing steady decline of Mike and the Mad Dog, is still, despite all those problems, better than 1050, which just goes to show how crappy 1050 really is. I mean, I could really care less about the talking heads anymore anyway, but please keep my games on the station with arguably the best signal in the country. Please. NO 1050!!!!!!!!!1
Leave WFAN? That’s crazy talk. That would be a completely silly thing to do.
When I read most of Matthew Cerrone’s post, I just nod my head and agree with whatever his opinion may be. This WFAN statement, however, really leaves me with an empty feeling. Met fans have been listening to WFAN since 1987; 20 years of tri-state area radio coverage can not be ignored. We have ensconced into the timing of the jingles, the jingles themselves and the mode we slip into once “GUARANTEEED TO HAVE A HECK OF A DAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!” comes blasting into our car. What would a Met broadcast be without the prospect of the Schmooze tucking us into bed? Imagine having to listen to the Schmooze wait until the Mets are over before he can begin his opening monologue! There’s a structure to the Met broadcast that hasn’t made significant changes in the past 10 years, leaving us with the same familiar feeling every time a brodcast begins. We turn on the broadcast, Howie Rose welcomes us as if we are next-door neighbors, and the Mets play baseball. Mr. Cerrone, 20 years is a damn long time, time that can not be ignored, and time that has been loved. (P.S. You are in a serious minority of “ESPN 1050″ lovers. Nobody in New York can get the damn station…..
Great post! I’m not a real sentimental guy, except for a couple things. One is women, and two is the Mets. Without Howie greeting me, and Scmooze putting me to bed, as you so aptly described it, my world just won’t be the same. The structure to the Mets broadcast must remain the same. There must be somewhere we can turn to for stability in an increasingly hostile world! That stability is the Mets on 660 WFAN! I can tune in on Friday night and they’ll carry me all the way down to the southern part of the Jersey Shore (or further, if I chose to go). From Colgate to Cape May, from Scranton to the Hamptons, from Connecticut to Delaware and beyond, the Mets on the FAN is our anchor, our bridge over troubled water. KEEP THE METS ON 600 WFAN!!!!!!!!11
HOW ABOUT SNY RADIO?!?!?!?
Good idea, but what frequency would they be on? I don’t know if any stations are available, and if there are, I don’t know how strong their signals are. Of course, almost anything will be stronger than 1050. How about if SNY Radio buys 770? Beautiful.
My favorite quote from M&MD:
“I like Inge a lot”
“What did he hit last year?”
“I don’t even care, I like him a lot.”
Good thing Mike doesn’t run a baseball team. Apparently numbers are meaningless in his world.
“I don’t care about the numbahs, I like Inge a lot Dawg.”
“Eddie, get me the book, let’s take a look at Braden Inge’s numbers the last few years.”
“Uhhhhhhh, it’s Brandon Inge, Dawg, and Eddie will get us the numbahs, but I don’ t really care about the numbahs Dawg, I like Inge a lot. He’s more than a numbahs guy, Dawg, he gives you those intangibles that don’t show up in the box score. I like Inge a lot, Dawg, I like him a lot.”
“How do you pronounce it, Mikey, Brandon? I thought it was Braden.”
“Uhhhh, no Dawg, you’re probably thinking of Braden Looper.”
“Oh right, Looper, god he was awful for the Mets, not sure if Braden..ah….Brandon Inge will be much better for them Mike, he’s a weird player Inge, doesn’t really fit into any specific role, he’s a weird player Mike.”
“I like him Dawg. I like Inge. He’s a nice little ballplayer, can do a lot of things, you can spell Delgado at first with him, trot him out to the outfield, I like him Dawg, he’s a nice ballplayer, I like Inge.”
geez matt why do u hate wfan so much. yet u seem to know what goes on over there…what’s the genesis of this animosity, u take alot of shots at them…
Inge would be a nice fit, but lets not forget he has the contract of a starter, and would be a hefty salary to carry as just a bench player.
Someone should call in and ask why Darling is skipping out on Sundays
Stay on WFAN. ESPN 1050 sucks. Stephen A. Smith is a racist asshole and Michael Kay is nothing more than Steinbrennar’s bitch who knows absolutely nothing about sports. Kellerman has his moments but is the fact that he think’s he is God’s gift to radio annoys the hell out of me.
I totally agrre…
Mike and the mad dog reminds me of Jobba the hut and that thing he kept on a leash in Star Wars
ESPN is the most self promoting network ever. all they do is advertise for themselves. i love WFAN and i listen online from all over the country and it is always crystal clear. please dont switch to 1050!!!
Okay, Mike and the Mad Dog suck, but the Mets have been on WFAN as long as I’ve been listening to the radio. I live in Philadelphia, and WFAN comes in loud and clear for the most part, whereas ESPN doesn’t come in at all. I would be MISERABLE if the Mets left WFAN… and not liking Mike and the Mad Dog is no reason for you to hold an opinion like that, an opinion that’s bad for Mets fans. There are tons of AMAZING people on FAN. Steve Somers. Steve Somers! STEVE SOMERS! Joe Beningo. Bob Heussler. Tony Paige. Even Evan Roberts is good.
No, Evan Roberts sucks, Joe belongs back on overnights, and bring back Jody Mac. Most importantly, get rid of Evan Roberts, who only has the job because his Mom is friends with Chernoff, and who has absolutely no sports knowledge to speak of and is only interested in talking about hot chicks and other nonsense. He sucks. Get rid of him. NOW!
It disappoints me greatly that anyone would want the mets to move radio home to ESPN. The fact that you dont appreciate some of the WFAN hosts or that you feel they are negative towards the mets is absolutely no reason at all to throw away what has been for years one of the best produced live sports broadcasts. It has certainly been the best in this city for years. The best broadcasters, the best pre/post game around. Dont forget, the people that have made it happen for the last 20 years work for WFAN not the Mets.
Dont look to throw away the great experience of broadcast baseball on the WFAN, simply because you happen not to like Mike and the Mad Dog!
ESPN Radio? Really? Ugh…I repeat, ugh.
I have to repeat what everyone else said a movie from FAN to 1050 would be an absolute disaster of epic proportions.
The Cardinals still haven’t recovered since they moved from 50,000 watt blowtorch KMOX to weaker signaled KTRS in 2006.
Advocating a move from a station with one of strongest signals in the country and one that has been real good to Mets fans over the last 20 Years to a station with one of the worst signals that can’t even be heard Upstate, Most of New Jersey and the East End of Long Island all because the Afternoon Drive Time Duo has not exactly been kind to the Mets over the years is not a good excuse.
Besides you really think Michael Kay is an upgrade over Mike & Chris? Really?
