I’ll preface my remarks with this: I have been an unconditional supporter of Minaya, after he took a team in utter disarray and brought, if not into the playoffs, at least into the discussion, and for that I am grateful….but…

I’m in agreement with Ruben on this one, He didn’t deserve this. I recall several occasions last year, when I shuddered at the memory of Julio Franco, bouncing predictably to second, and thought to myself how very fortunate the Mets were to have Gotay and Marlon Anderson to pick up a bat in a critical situation. They both came through time and again.

I lay this at Omar’s feet, not just because he makes the ultimate personnel decisions, for if I truly believed that he felt that Tatis would become more valuable, I would bite my tongue and trust his judgment, for the reasons I’ve already stated…but…

I honestly believe that the GM’s judgment is being clouded by the fact that he was the scout (for Texas, I believe) who originally signed Tatis in the late 90′s. I think he is being stubborn and wants to try to prove that his assessment of this player was correct, after all. He’s letting his ego interfere with what is best for the club.

I get that. No one has said though that he’s been put on irrevoacble waivers. Did I miss that somewhere?

i dont understand the mets sometimes. they seem to form these negative perceptions of people and then it becomes impossible to change that perception. i wonder if it’s a character issue, u know how the mets can be overly concerned wit that crap

there are 2 types of waivers

irrevocable waivers means he is being released from his contract….he can’t be pulled back and if no one claims him he is a free agent and can sign with any team, even his old one

Funny how I saw Gotay charge that tough hop and make the play at shortstop yesterday, but I forgot, someone said he hasn’t played there yet this spring.

Gotay played short when Reyes came out yesterday. Also does anybody else want to tell us what Omar and the rest of the FO thinks about him or other players? I mean you guys must be the ones they call for input since you say things like they were fact. ” It would not be Gotay anyway.” “The Mets do not think he is capable of being a utility player and has more value in a trade as a 2B.” You get that from Omar himself? Willie give you a call and said this to you? Or is this all speculation like FMart has to be included in the trade for Santana? Believing something said by some sports writer or sports analyst. How about just typing “IMO” before you make such statements. Because IMO, if Gotay was able to hit right-handed as well as he does left-handed, this conversation wouldn’t be going on. He’d be the IF utility guy. But he doesn’t so that is the reason he’s on waivers, the fact he cant hit right-handed and they need the right-handed bat. Not for any reason other than that.

this is a crime.

- tatis hasn’t hit over .250 since 2001!
- he’s had 56 at bats in the past 4 years!
- 17 errors in 2002-3 and 148 games!

gotay played hard. hit well off the bench or starting. and wasn’t a disaster in the field.

What will happen if Easley and Castillo are tired and injured at the same time?

The Mets consistently choose older mediocre players to fill their bench over young guys with potential.

it’s a crime!!
