  1. Nate W. says:

Two run double from Marlon Anderson plates Easley and Pagan.

  2. SheaVendor says:

    You are forgiven Matt.

  3. Blue_n_Orange says:

Anybody having Gameday Audio problems? It keeps trying to route me to MLB TV to which I do not subscribe.

Anybody got a working audio link?

  4. KHOFFLER says:

Ok these guys are killing me..I want to watch the game on mute!

    • nychurch111 says:

i swear to you they’ve been talking about last season for the whole inning, they need to get over it already

    • garycarter says:

Really? I find them very informative. For instance, I had no idea that Marlon Anderson was a switch hitter.

      • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

nice, that would make him the single most versatile player in major league baseball.

    • Monkeyborg says:

The Mets bullpen is anchored by Wagner and Smith? That’s good to know.

  5. Philnym31 says:

I really think that the Mets should sign Claudio Vargas for the fifth spot. He’s serviceable and is the perfect candidate to give us the insurance we need with El Duque’s durability questions. Giving the job to Pelfrey, isn’t going to cut it. I think we all understand that he needs to work things out in AAA. Also, Omar really should take a serious look into Matt Murton now more than ever since the Cubs just signed Reed Johnson to take his place on the roster. If we can obtain him for one of the bullpen arms that could be replaced, Murton is a player worth getting instead of carrying Fernando Tatis.

  6. Nate W. says:

    Church rbi single scores Marlon.

Pete Moylan is pitching the 1st btw.

  7. stickguy says:

man, that is one mungy looking lineup.

So of course, they will score about 20 runs!

It is nice to see the bench guys getting some nice PT to round into shape.

    • metzelaar says:

We’ve got a heck of a ST win-loss record, and we’ve been playing scrubs most of the games. Maybe we should cut Delgado, Beltran, Church, Castillo, and Reyes. Seems like we can get to 100 wins this year without them.

    • Nate W. says:

I love the fact that all of the Mets bench players are in this game facing the Braves relievers and borderline relievers. Should make for some nice recent recolletion when it gets to PH chances later in games over next weekend.

  8. swirlywand says:

Any word on who the mets are taking to Memphis!?!?

    • ravi3 says:

I’m pretty sure that MLB is making them bring a reasonable facsimile of the actual team, so I’d guess you’ll see Reyes/Wright/Beltran/Delgado at least, with Castillo a possibility, as well as Pagan and Church. Obviously Maine is the starter

    • DjDeF says:

Supposedly the whole roster will go plus the guys who are up in the air. Technically Camp breaks on Friday so the guys who have no shot of making the team are left back in port st lucie

  9. SamInNorthCakalakey says:

It sucks for those not in the tri-state area that can only see nationally televised spring training games and all we get is the B-squad.

Guess I have to wait til Saturday but not sure who is going to play in that game either.

    • gipper913 says:

      Ummmmmm……MLB.tv or MLB Extra innings.

I live in Oregon now, and have seen many ST games broadcast on SNY or the opposing team’s local affiliate via MLB.tv….and, of course, will see most regular season games on Extra Innings/

  10. DonDopeyNJ says:

someone should inform this guy that the name is ENDY chavez, not ANDY chavez.

    • metzelaar says:

      Chavez for Murton, anyone?

      • DonDopeyNJ says:

        no way

      • ravi3 says:

yea that won’t get done at all…Cubs get nothing out of that…I’m guessing thats a joke?

        • ASod1975 says:

The Cubs seem to have a need for a lefty specialist out of the pen. The Mets have three of those in camp. Maybe Schoeneweis and Gotay for Murton.

        • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

i do scho and gotay in a heartbeat. me may have to pay a good chunk of schos salary but i think its worth it

        • ASod1975 says:

I honestly think Rincon could do Schoeneweis’ job fairly well. He’s looked good this spring, save for one ugly outing. And Feliciano is a more than a loogy, so Schoeneweis is definitely expendable. The Cubs are pretty righty heavy hitting-wise, so adding another lefty bat might be desirable to them, assuming they have a spot for Gotay. Just brainstorming, but I think Murton would be a fine addition and quite possibly a guy who could play every day in 2009 when Alou leaves.

        • stickguy says:

agreed 100% Gotay and Scho for Murton is a good deal for the Mets.

I am really curious if Omar is actively talking with the Cubs on Murton, or even teh Angels on Morales? Hope so.

        • ravi3 says:

Don’t think the Cubs would b ite on Scho, given the contract…Perhaps Rincon and Gotay?

        • kandiman says:

The cubs can just wait for us to release rincon and then sign him if they want him. Also, If gotay had ANY value on the trade market he would be long gone.

Nobody wants our crap 26th player and ST camp invitees. Let’s try and make the comment section on this site somewhat realistic.

        • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

your right, and carlos gomez is awful compared to the immortal jacoby ellsbury and melky cabrera. i cant believe people on this site were dumb enough to think any of our prospects that the media told us sucked would get us an ace….

  11. SheaVendor says:

    Who’s calling the game?

  12. Gilch says:

claudio vargas couldnt get out of the 4th inning pitching against my cousins AAU team …. but i guess if you want to take the the “throw enuff sh1t at the wall and see if any sticks” method .. then sign him

    • ohboy says:

This fan base likes to put stock in these type of players UNTIL they are in a Mets uniform…

      …we want everyone else’s garbage

  13. Nate W. says:

They interviewed the Jacket but it wasnt anything we didnt already know.

Duque and Pelfrey will “both start tomorrow” and that will determine who is the 5th starter.

Not sure if they will both pitch against the Orioles, or if one will start a minor league game, but that is what RP said.

funny note, during Pedro’s sim game RP called him to stop him for a moment and Pedro said “dont call me Pedro, call me Picaso” :)

  14. ASod1975 says:

Small nitpicky thing, but if they’re going to send the scrub lineup anyway, shouldn’t Easley being playing short? The Mets have enough guys who can play second (Easley included) but no one really to back up Reyes. If Easley is that option, so be it, but he should play a few games there. Just something I was thinking about earlier. Believe me, I would hope the Mets have no need for a backup SS and Jose can go every day, but spring training is the time to get the backups work everywhere and since Anderson Machado has about as much of a chance to make the club as I do, Easley should be at short today. Discuss amongst yourselves…

    • stellar says:

You’re 100% correct. If Easley is the backup SS, you might as well play him there as much as possible now so he can get used to it.

    • Nate W. says:

There is an article on Mets.com detailing how many innings Easley has played at each position this spring and how he deems himself ready to go.

Being that its his natural position I would image all he needs is a few sessions of grounders and he’s good to go at SS. Its not like his range is going to improve by playing more SS.

      • ASod1975 says:

You may be right, but game-time experience is better than a few sessions of grounders. And while I know it’s his natural position, he really hasn’t played there much in the last several years. Hopefully it’s a moot point and he won’t be seeing too much time there at all, but it was just something I thought about when I saw the lineups.

        • Nate W. says:

Your reasoning makes sense. I however, was using Willie logic to try and answer your question. :)

  15. Nate W. says:

Perez strikes out McCann on a ball after not getting a call on a better pitch right before it… shouldnt the umpires be in season form by now?

  16. metsin080910 says:

    Marlon Anderson = Clutch.

    Endy Chavez = Amazing.

On days when Church has to sit against LHP, put Pagan in right and Marlon in left. I want to see this guy get as many ab’s this year as possible. I wouldn’t mind him starting everyday but then we lose a valuable piece to our bench.

  17. zigner says:

so this eric young starts yapping about how the Braves don’t boast about how good they are going to be, they have a quiet confidence, and they don;t need to tell everyone they are the team to beat. And thats the way a true professional plays.

30 seconds later, he is praising Jimmy Rollins for his team to beat comment last year, saying how it gave the team the confidence to win.

I’m sitting here with my jaw dropping open.

Is logic a requirement for broadcasting? Obviously not on ESPN

    • backinbusiness says:

he just called yunel escobar “that fantastic little cuban”!

    • MetsRmilife says:

They give John Kruk 10 mins a night and your asking about logic. I would say they don’t even need a grasp of the English Language.

    • Nate W. says:

it was somewhat contradictory, but I think he was comparing this Braves team’s attitude to the attitude of the past Braves winning clubs.

    • ravi3 says:

Of course he forgets the yapping that Chipper did when Wright won the GG award (not that Wright deserved it, but he still should have kept his mouth shut)

    • HOFMets57 says:

Eric Young is always propping up African-American ballplayers. Can’t blame him though, we need more blacks in the game of baseball. Inner-city programs just aren’t doing it…

  18. NYCESQ says:

Over/under on Hampton making it to the All-Star break?

    • ravi3 says:

It depends on how badly he gets his spleen ripped out during his first start at Shea….Imagine seeing Glavine AND Hampton at Shea during the same series! They’ll need to enlist in the John Rocker protection program (i.e. having an entire police dept. patrolling Shea)

      • MetsRmilife says:

Hahaha I don’t know if there are enough police in NY to protect Glavine

        • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

if glavine and hampton start in the same series at shea itll probably be the only time john rocker would be able to go to shea and no one would notice.

  19. metsin080910 says:

I’m going to have to say over.

But, he is going to stink it up.

  20. NYCESQ says:

I’m extremely impressed with the patience that Mets hitters seem to be showing this spring.

  21. Nate W. says:

Royce Ring strikes out Church on a nice sidearm breaking ball. The Mets righty hitters had set up a rally, but now there are two outs and Casanova up…

  22. metsin080910 says:

I don’t know why everyone is hating on Glavine. I mean I understand why he went back to ATL. If it wasn’t for Glavine we wouldn’t of even came close to game 7 of the NLCS in 06. He is a HOF pitcher and has had a great career. I’m not going to be one of the people booing him at Shea this year. He deserves more respect than that.

    • Another Matt says:

Question is, when he gets booed (I was going to say if, but I think it’s really when), will he be devestated?

    • ravi3 says:

Yes, he did good things in a Met uniform, but its his comments that have done him in…beyond the quotes he had after his last games, its been well documented that he felt coming to NY was a mistake, and then there was his whole game in the ‘06 offseason, where he made it clear NY was his 2nd choice, and then more statements this year, along the lines of his options being pitching in Atlanta, or retiring

      • metsin080910 says:

Well, given his history in ATL, I don’t blame him. He is a class act guy and I’m sure he discussed his decision to leave with the Mets’ Brass. Fans might not of liked the way he left NY, but I still respect him.

        • ravi3 says:

I respect him too, just don’t ask me not to enjoy him getting demolished at Shea, or anywhere else

    • backinbusiness says:

I know it’s irrational and immature. But so much as seeing Glavine be interviewed makes me nauseous.

  23. Nate W. says:

Perez is looking really good today btw. He isnt dominate but he is getting by without his best stuff.

He had a bad call on what should have been a strikeout and he came right back with another good pitch.

Hopefully we see more of this ‘effective while mediocre’ Perez than the ‘bad’ Perez.

    • ravi3 says:

I believe the term is “erratically effective” or “wildly effective” or something along the lines

      • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

i thought it was effectively wild?

      • Another Matt says:

I think you’re thinking “effectively wild”

But that isn’t quite the point. The point is he’s holding it together without dominating. Normally, he either dominates or blows up.

Today it’s more like bend-but-don’t-break. That’s what Olly needs to learn to go from a good pitcher from a great one. When he’s on, he’s ace-like; if he can keep the team in the game when he’s off, he’ll progress from being a 15-10 guy to something like a 17-7 guy.

  24. Nate W. says:

NYFS ingame comment: “Pagan with his 57th misplayed flyball of the spring.”

    sad but true

  25. zen says:

Twins center fielder Carlos Gomez was scratched from Thursday’s lineup due to residual soreness in his left leg.
Gomez suffered a left hamstring cramp in the fifth inning of the Twins’ game against the Rays on Wednesday.

    –mlb.com

  26. Nate W. says:

Resop walks Marlon Anderson with the bases loaded. 4-2 Mets with Tatis up with 2 outs and the ‘bases drunk’

  27. mackey_sassers_arm says:

OT: Did anyone see the HBO Real Sports piece with lenny dykstra? After the segment which featured Harvard grad and highly regarded investor Jim Cramer speaking about how savy dykstra is, Bryant Gumble goes on to say how ridiculous it is and likened dykstra’s success to “a monkey throwing darts.” I guess this is because dyksra might not be the most eloquent speaker. Just imagine if that was a white host completely dimissing a black athlete’s accomplishments outside of their sport because they weren’t well read. That guy would be fired instantly. I can’t really see the difference between what Gumble said and what Imus said.

    • zen says:

let’s stick to the mets instead of race-baiting.

      • mackey_sassers_arm says:

I’m not race-baiting. I just saw the piece for the first time last night and I was a little shocked that comments like that completely fly under the radar.

        • zen says:

dykstra was my favorite player. he also has been a drunk driver injuring himself and dalton. he was a steroid user to along with gambling away his baseball monies.

get over it. nobody wants to talk about race. we’re hear to talk about sports and to enjoy the mets.

stop trying to divide our country

        • mackey_sassers_arm says:

race aside, the pice was about dykstra transferring his athletic talent into success in the business world. Gumble was basically yelling at the reporter saying that was impossible because dykstra can’t read. He refused to give the guy any credit for his self-made success, and that is what upset me.

I am not trying to divide anything, the guy was out of line.

        • zen says:

then say that he was out-of-line. what doesn this have to do with imus or gumble being black?

i don’t like gumble either. he’s pompous. race has zero to do with the story

        • saltzy007 says:

Mackey, havent you learned that mearly discussing race, or how hypotricical the way the media covers it makes you a racist!?!….How DARE you discuss such things. Baseball is pure dammit.

Now…..Lets all hold hands and start chanting…”Weeeee areee the worlllllld, weeee are the chidrennnn…..”

Jesus, will some of you grow up and gain the ability to discuss adult issues without getting insulted or pointing fingers. This is precisely WHY there are issues….God FORBID we address issues, we may hurt somebodys feelings….boo hoo…

        • mackey_sassers_arm says:

I just think that his attitude would have been a little different if the story was about Mo Vaughns real-estate development. Obviously it is pure speculation, but it seemed as if he has some sort of personal problem with nails. The only things I could think of that would cause that sort of blind hatred were: race, illiteracy, or professional athletes in general. I assume he doesn’t hate professional athletes or else he probably wouldn’t host a sports program. I gave him the benefit of the dobt that he doesn’t hate someone because they don’t read. If anyone can offer another explanation, please do.

        • saltzy007 says:

Have you ever read Jason Whitlock? He does a very good job discussing matters of this ilk. BTW, HES BLACK, and against this sorta hyportitical crap…

His articles about the anarchy in Vegas at the NBA AS Game last year were great…

        • zen says:

gumbel’s comments had nothing to do with race. it had to do with him being a pompous fool. who cares about whitlock? he’s hardly an academic.

        • saltzy007 says:

Right. Exactly the same as Imus.

Whatever, his comments dont bother me. Ive said my peace on this subject already.

        • zen says:

i don’t think imus should have been fired. he’s a comedian. that’s his job, which he rightfully got back on another station.

        • saltzy007 says:

I’m curious. What about are your thoughts about what Jimmy the Greek said years ago? Im being serious too. That ended his career…

        • zen says:

i think he made comments that were scientifically and historically inaccurate. it was silly to fire him based on one comment especially since he was clearly not racist.

    • shea_guevara says:

Well, for one thing, he didn’t call Dykstra a nappy headed ho.

I don’t think the two are even remotely close.

      • mackey_sassers_arm says:

right, he called him a monkey throwing darts. I find it hard to believe that gumble would have said that if dykstra was sitting in front of him. Nails woked extremely hard to become a successful investor and gumble completely brushes it aside as luck. he is a disgrace as a reporter.

        • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

sour grapes, bryant gumble is probably just angry bc lenny dykstra is better at baseball and investing than bryant “the bad gumble” gumble is at anything he does. besides its not like jim cramer would know how to identify a savy investor. anyway lets go mets.

  28. Nate W. says:

Dave O’Brien just noted Wagner, Joe Smith, and Heilman as the mainstays in the Mets pen…

  29. likeitoughttabe29 says:

Back to the Glavine thing, he did not build up enough good karma in NY to have that last start not be the one thing most mets fans judge him on.

    • MetsRmilife says:

I agree. While he was here he was fine and I appreciate his performance in the 2006 Playoffs. But in the end he Imploded with the season on the line. Made a couple of “I felt ok just didn’t hit my spots.” statements and ran tail between legs back to ATL. I personally can not wait till he doesn’t make it out of the first during a start at Shea this year. Hopefully the braves season is on the line this time.

      • ravi3 says:

his comments would have been ok in any other non-playoff game. However, that was the single most important game of his Mets career…He did not pitch a deciding game in the playoffs or anything like that. And when it was all on the line, he threw up his 2nd worst start as a Met (ironically enough right beind his first start with the team). Have gave the team no chance to even be in the game, and then says he is ‘disappointed, not devastated’. Any athlete that has a competitive drive would have been so emotionally invested in that start that the disaster that resulted absolutely should have been devastating.

      • murdertron3000 says:

The trouble is that Glavine is exactly the kind of pitcher that always seems to give the Mets fits – a soft tossing, “crafty” veteran lefty.

But I do hope they can knock him around.

  30. likeitoughttabe29 says:

I hear Juan Samuel on the other hand had a chain of unsuccessful laundramats and had some troubles when he started an investment firm called J.T. Marling

  31. metsin080910 says:

Eric Young just gave a shout out to Jersey. Gotta like him now.

  32. Nate W. says:

these commentators are acting like they are regular players who have been pulled after thier 4 or 5 innings of play in a ST game. They couldn’t care less about what is going on on the field.

  33. Santanaman says:

Looks like Church is finding his stroke. Anderson having a fine day as well.

Did anyone read the article about Dykstra’s kid?

  34. Nate W. says:

bottom 6th, Oliver Perez is still in there.

  35. Nate W. says:

Tatis with a nice play at 1B (he moved over sometime, announcers have no clue) on a ball ripped right at his feet.

This Braves top draft pick Haywood looks a lot like Strawberry. Perez strikes him out looking on the outside corner.

  36. Nate W. says:

Perez is down hurt after making a fielding play up the first baseline…

    and they go to commercials

    • daspot says:

he looked like he just got the air knocked out of him…it didnt look that bad but the ones that dont look that bad are the ones that linger..

  37. metsin080910 says:

Oliie just made every Met fan gasp.

He just face-planted into the dirt on a nice play to first.

    I hope he is ok.

  38. CitizenSnips says:

Looks like he got the wind knocked out of him. No idea what happened though.

  39. NYCESQ says:

Anyone else have a heart attack when they saw Perez down?

I may be talking to you from the dead.

    • mrose says:

      me…
      wow

I had the slingbox minimized and IMMEDIATELY brought it up..
the ceo could have been standing behind me
i would have still brought the screen up

  40. Steve.P says:

Didnt seem like he was hurt badly. Grimaced, but he got up…

  41. metsin080910 says:

I saw him smiling though, I think he just had the wind knocked out of him. (knock, knock, knock).

  42. Steve.P says:

    He’s fine.

    • shea_guevara says:

Yeah, I’m listening to it on Gameday Audio, Braves announcers, and they said as much. And I’m sure they’d be more than happy to report that Ollie was hurt.

      • andyglass1 says:

i’d have to say the braves announcers are about as non-biased as anyone can be. they are never malicious – always positive to report an opposing player is physically ok… they tend to focus on the baseball aspect, maybe with the exception of skip the idiot carey.

  43. Nate W. says:

Perez sitting on the bench, he appears ok.

He sold out to flip the ball to 1B and couldnt brace for landing

    • cbusmetsfan says:

He’s drinking water using his left hand…doesn’t appear to be hurt (I say this in jest)

  44. NYCESQ says:

Supernova just slammed a ball. Not a bad third-stringer.

    • dykstradude444 says:

they said it was his first this spring, didnt he just hit one the other day?

  45. Nate W. says:

    Perez: 6 IP, 2 runs, 6 hits, 0 walks, 3 K’s

No walks is a beautiful thing to see from him. He was very effective without needing the strikeouts to do it. Very nice bounce back outing from him.

  46. Santanaman says:

Did they pull him or did the inning end?

  47. Santanaman says:

    OK, I can breath now

  48. Nate W. says:

Clark reaches and Anderson Machado doubles…

Andy Hernandez knocks them both in with a single up the middle.

  49. metsin080910 says:

…..and the route continues. 9-2 Mets.

  50. Santanaman says:

Someone said earlier that we would score 20, who was that?

  51. Santanaman says:

If we come out on top here, we will be the first in ST to 19 wins.

  52. metsin080910 says:

Perez is out there for the 7th.

  53. Nate W. says:

hmm, Perez back in there for the 7th

72 pitches and counting, so I guess he needs more work.

  54. Nate W. says:

    A. Righthander is warming up in the Mets pen

    - Dave O’brien

  55. metsin080910 says:

My guess is they want him to throw 80+ pitches. Perez is at about 77 or so. Just struck out a batter. 1 out in the 7th.

  56. metsin080910 says:

    Willie pulls Perez, 6.1 ip.

  57. Nate W. says:

Perez out after getting an out and allowing a baserunner. They must have wanted him to get to 80 pitches.

He got a nice hand from the crowd and tipped his cap while jumping the foul line. Co-ordination ftw!

    • ravi3 says:

Or they wanted to bring Smith (or whoever) in with a runner on base.

      • Nate W. says:

Santana threw 81 pitches in his intersquad game.
Pedro threw 80 pitches in his simulated game.
Perez threw 80 pitches in todays game.

        …coincendence?

Joe Smith with a walk and a HBP to force in a run..

        • ravi3 says:

I think so…esp. considering Perez was already at 77 pitches before the inning started.

        • Nate W. says:

ESPN had him at 72 after he started the 7th.

Joe Smith didnt get out either righty, but then got the lefties out… It was a good spot to bring him in, but he didnt get the job done.

  58. metsin080910 says:

2 men on (first and second)

    • Nate W. says:

      whoops!

I cant see the first base part of the thing in the corner of the screen at this angle…

  59. zen says:

this is going to be the mets best starting pitching since 1988

  60. metsin080910 says:

Joe Smith is on to pitch.

  61. RetireNumber17 says:

It’s like Glavine was a one-man sleeper cell his entire Mets career, lying in wait, turning in decent but not great performances–just good enough to keep his cover–biding his time until he was put in position to inflict fatal damage. His ultimate game as a Met, and he destroys the entire season in less than an inning. Then he disappears, only to resurface in the uniform of the Mets’ arch enemy, for whom he was working in secret all along. It played out like Fredrick Forsyth spy novel. ;-)

    • Nate W. says:

yea it makes perfect sense… except for his playoff wins against the Dodgers and Cardinals.

A small part of me believes that Glavine gave away that last game because he wanted his time with the Mets to end.
But I dont think anything before that was anything less than his best effort.

  62. backinbusiness says:

that shot of OP watching joe smith HBP in a run was pretty sad.
joe smith is extremely frustrating. based on (next to) nothing, why not give Figs a chance?

  63. slangon says:

going back to what you guys were saying about ollie being effective despite not having his best stuff, i also found it encourging that he seemed to calm down and get a bit better as the game when on. i feel like last year when things weren’t going his way, he just got worse and worse.
it was also good to see he was pretty economical with his pitches. getting to the 7th with 80 pitches.

    • Nate W. says:

To be fair, the lineup was loaded with lefty batters so he could really attack most of them.

But knowing that Perez cant go 7-9 shutout IP more than a few times a year, its nice to see this type of performance, and hope that it can be one of his more median performances.

      • therealsince86 says:

But it still had Tex, Chipper, Fracwhatever, and McCann that’s nothing to laugh at.

  64. Nate W. says:

Pagan with a nice shoestring catch on a ball he misjudged off the bat. No advance by the runners.

    • Monkeyborg says:

Did ESPN just call him ‘Elliott’ Pagan?

    • Nate W. says:

I dont know, Orestes seems to start most sentences with a mumbling jumble of sounds that may or may not be words…

      • metsftw says:

oh god. i’m glad i didn’t watch this game if orestes was doing the telecast. he’s terrible.

  65. Nate W. says:

    “…just a bit outside!”

  66. metsin080910 says:

Church has 3 hits. 2 of the off lefties. Good sign.

    • metsrbest says:

Yes, but which lefties? After all, I can throw left handed too. :-)

      • Nate W. says:

the last one was a minor leaguer, but he threw from the side and looked rather nasty at times. Church looked good against him

  67. NYCESQ says:

    Nice k by Smith.

  68. metsin080910 says:

    Yeah, he looks sharp.

  69. metsin080910 says:

    Nice 1,2,3 inning.

  70. ravi3 says:

Phils got RIPPED by Detroit 15-4…Eaton gave up 7 in 4.2IP, Gordon gave up 2 in .1IP

    • Santanaman says:

That is music to my ears. Can’t wait to pound the Phills!

      • metsrbest says:

Do you think it will be music to the Philly fans too when El Duque and Pelfrey get lit up when they pitch next?

    • Another Matt says:

Nice to see their pitching’s in mid-season form.

There’s a team that needs to score 900 runs to have a winning season.

  71. Nate W. says:

Rincon now pitching. No lefties in sight in the lineup…

Borchard (R) rips a double down the line
Pena (R) chops one to deep 2B, AH makes a strong throw to get him. Borchard moved up.
Prado (R) yanks a hanging change to left to score Borchard.
Lillibridge sp? (R) skies one to CF
    Van Pope (R) walks
    finally a lefty…
Thorman (L) strikes out, but we knew Rincon can do that.

Joe Smith and Rincon are doing their best to not make the team.

  72. zen says:

there goes the mets sunday broadcasts:

ATLANTA — As Major League teams shore up their Opening Day rosters, so, too, did TBS, announcing on Thursday that Ron Darling and Buck Martinez will serve as color analysts who will work along side play-by-play man Chip Caray on Sunday MLB on TBS broadcasts.

    • latinlawyer says:

NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Ron Darling deserves to be on SNY not TBS!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      LL

  73. stickguy says:

Eaton and Kendrick for th ePHils have been blasted all spring. And Moyer has ben fair at best.

Basically the Phils have a 2 man rotation and then dreck. I would much rather have a strong 4, then the dreck! And frankly, overall, our Dreck is better than theirs (Eaton)

  74. First time I actually got a REALLY good look at the Mets all year (no SNY, south jersey, yeah. Can’t get it here.) Anyway, Ollie was pretty incredible. He really shut down the Braves line up, and they put their A list out there. I was really hoping to see Beltran, Wright, Reyes, etc… but seeing the backup guys like Pagan and Marly do well made me happy.

Ryan Church looked pretty good too, really happy we got him.

Ahh, so ready for the baseball season. So, so excited. I can’t wait.

  75. gomets6091 says:

Reason why I love baseball #1,489: A lineup of scrubs and backups featuring Marlon Anderson as your big bat can go out and beat another teams starting lineup featuring All-Stars like Chipper Jones and Mark Teixeira 9-4.

If a basketball or football team had their scrubs playing the other teams starting lineup, they’d get destroyed.
