Why, because they won 89 games and got swept in the playoffs? Aren't they pretty much the exact same team who choked in each of the previous 7 pennant races? Every Philly fan I know (and unfortunately, it's a lot) wanted Manuel fired as late as the all-star break last year, but now all of a sudden he's considered some great manager? Not Pedro's arm, per se (though it won't hurt), but his leadership. He brings all the right qualities to the table, from fire to experience to knowing when to let go, relax and blow off some steam. Pedro is the difference-maker for this team, and not just because of his ERA. So far as I’m concerned, the major difference between the ‘07 performance and what I expect to be stellar ‘08 results will be Pedro.

Not Pedro’s arm, per se (though it won’t hurt), but his leadership. He brings all the right qualities to the table, from fire to experience to knowing when to let go, relax and blow off some steam.
