amLinks: Flashback, Roster and Hunt
By Matthew Cerrone - Mar 28, 2008 7:47 am

It’s Flashback Friday at Faith and Fear in Flushing, where Greg looks back at an early opening day win over the Phillies from March 31, 1998.

At Hot Foot, Andrew Beaton is back with another edition of Beaton’s Banter.

In a post to Amazin Avenue, Eric is a bit worried by how the Mets opening-day roster may shake out.

Yesterday at Loge 13, Kingman talked about his day filming a segment with Ron Hunt for WNBC in New York about Shea.

To watch the segment, go to the producer’s blog at WNBC.

man, Eric is a bit worked up over this.

The final 2 games are important, if you are trying to judge if a guy like Sanchez or Duque is healthy enough to make the team. But he is right, it shouldn’t decide if a proven stiff like Stokes makes the team, over someone with a track record of success.

And Casanova is only on the roster if Castro is hurt.

I could go on and on about why Shea was too important, not only to the history of the Mets and NYC, but to rock music history to tear down, but instead I’ll talk about the following:

I think the most significant achievement that could happen this season for the NY Mets – yes, more significant than even being World Champs again, would be to do what they have never done and will never have the opportunity to do, if not this year – and that is to have one of the Mets starters pitch a No-Hitter at Shea. I have a lot of hope that this will happen!!!
