RHP Rick VandenHurk starts for the Marlins. In 18 appearances last season, VandenHurk was 4-6 with a 6.83 ERA. VandenHurk was hit hard in two appearances vs. the Mets last season, allowing 12 runs on 10 hits, including 4 HR, over 9 IP. He had a 4.35 ERA in six appearances this spring.

The Notes :

Carlos Beltran and Jose Reyes each homered off VandenHurk last season.

Luis Gonzalez is 16-for-44 (.364) with four doubles, a homer and five RBI vs. Martinez lifetime.

1 – lets go mets! 2 – i correctly picked davidson in that thread about the tourney a few weeks ago

  2. metzelaar says:

Was Wright batting third yesterday too?

  3. vitto79 says:

Not a big deal but thinking Church should stay 7th cause that’s where he is when Alou gets back

I understand it’s a righty so its ok to go back to back with Delgado buuuut when a lefty comes in later Pagan would of been better there…………..oh wells I won’t complain if he smacks a early rbi double

    • CaseStreet says:

I liked Pagan in the 6th spot. I would think he’ll get junk thrown at him with Schneider on deck.

Although Church is a power guy, Pagan I feel hits all fields.

  4. HPT says:

Didn’t Pedro strike out 12 on Opening day in 05 in Cincy?

  5. beltran and the mets says:

Anybody having problems with MLB.tv AGAAAINNNN?!?!

  6. dykstraw says:

i almost forgot baseball was on tonight! i’m not used to this yet.

  7. vinluvr says:

mets usually smack this guy around pretty good. See what offense has going on tonight.

  8. saltzy007 says:

Yea yea…Im always negative. Im the 5 mins I’ve been listening to the new guy (Wayne) on the FAN I’m not impressed….

    Just misprounced Amazaga’s name…..

    Ahh….Heres Howie…..better…

  9. dykstraw says:

    there goes the no-hitter

  10. irishchris87 says:

I’m not sure I’m going to be handle watching the game from behind the plate the entire game. WTF is SunSports doing????

Oh and “And his name is STILL DAN UGGLA!!” is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard an announcer say following a HR.

    • CitizenSnips says:

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Must be some wierd inside joke.

    • toomanyuniforms says:

Everything about them is minor league.

Pedro just needs to settle down, here. Control issues. Reminds me of his start against the Reds last year.

      • irishchris87 says:

I feel like this always happens, he gets knocked around a little bit early and settles right in. First start of the year too, not too much of a reason to get concerned just yet.

Let’s just hope it stops there…

        • gipper913 says:

The broadcasters and the quality of the camerawork are SOOOO bad on FSN Florida that I had to take the opportunity on their “email the booth” night to email them if there are sports media critic columnists at local Miami papers like in NY and that, if not, their broadcasts are prime examples of why there ought to be.

    • jimyager says:

I really HATE these Marlin announcers!! If Im goona pay $229 for MLB Extra Innings I should be able to watch my teams feed?

  11. toomanyuniforms says:

    WOW!!!! They got Delgado!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. Woodside20 says:

Dan Uggla is built like the juicebag players of the late 90’s. I think we need a random drug test in the Marlins clubhouse.

  13. CornellMetsFan says:

who is this new guy with howie rose? hes horrible. i want the traitor tom mccarthy back!

  14. toomanyuniforms says:

this AB is a victory for MArtinez. Check pitch count on VandenHurk.

  15. mr.gee21 says:

Pedro better not tire himself out on this at bat…this is hilarious.

  16. saltzy007 says:

    A-Greed…

  17. CornellMetsFan says:

    HAHAHA pedro is great

  18. saltzy007 says:

    Yea Pedro….WHAT AN AB BABY!!!!

  19. toomanyuniforms says:

THAT is a competitor, K or no.

  20. pedro is pissed off

  21. CornellMetsFan says:

bravo pedro. i hope hes not tired though

  22. mza4eva says:

12 pitches – great ab pedro, what’s the pitch count now 55 in the 2nd inning

  23. solo HR gonzales

  24. toomanyuniforms says:

    WTF??

Maybe he IS tired. . . . but Gonzalez has always hit him well.

  25. metzelaar says:

I feel bad for all you mlb.tv subscribers. These FSN announcers are atrocious.

    • gipper913 says:

Yup – have them on Extra Innings too.

      Awful.

Here’s my email to them (it’s “email the booth” night):

My question has to do with the broadcast team itself:

Do the Miami newspapers have sports media critics columnists like in NY? If so, I assume they are apoplectic about the poor quality of FSN Florida’s broadcasts? That they deride the commentators blatant “homer” attitude and boosterism that includes such unprofessional and amateurish commentating as using players first names and nicknames as well as actively rooting for the home team? I also assume the local sports media critics lambaste the broadcasters’ utter inability to have even the most basic research on the other team’s players as evidenced by a comment in yesterday’s home opener that “only Alou hit well for the Mets down the stretch”? Really? Read David Wright’s stats much before a Mets series? Surely, the critics point out the shoddy camera work and college-ball level direction and the 1990’s production values?

If there are no sports media critics writing for the local Miami paper – well, your broadcasts are prime examples of why there should be.

      Regards,

      Mike XXXXXX
(suffering through your amateurish broadcasts via MLB Extra Innings in Portland, Oregon).

      • metzelaar says:

Very nice. Please tell me you’re actually sending that one in. These broadcasts are insufferable. I can’t wait until the weekend, when I get to go home and watch the games on SNY again.

        • gipper913 says:

Oh – they have it, they won’t answer it but they have it.

Sent similar email to the Nats broadcasters in late 2006. They wouldn’t quote my email but referenced it on air byand just said, “hey we like to have fun at the ballpark – so what if we’re blantant homers?” What amateurs.

        • metzelaar says:

Are the Mets the only team with decent, professional announcers? What a shame.

And…they just used MRI as a verb. As in, “Let’s MRI that” So sad.

        • gipper913 says:

LOL. Scully is excellent if aging with the dodgers. I mean, the guy simulcasts TV and radio – that is pretty cool. He reminds me of Murph.

Some cities arent too bad – the Milwaukee guys are okay….Cubs, etc……but Nats and Fish are particularly bad. The Reds guys, especially the play-by-play guy seemed so sad and uniterested last year, I felt bad for him.

  26. dykstraw says:

beltran has to get his body in front of that!

  27. toomanyuniforms says:

I wonder if the Marlins are playing with the baseballs a la the Rockies (my pet conspiracy theory that I don’t really believe)

  28. CornellMetsFan says:

yep, beltran has made that mistake often. does anyone remember the jimmy rollins triple in shea last year?

  29. huge_mets_fan11 says:

These annoucers remind me of Fran Healy, “Look at Hanley run”= “And look at Reyes run.” Lol

  30. huge_mets_fan11 says:

Mets need to put a couple runs on the board here

  31. NYCESQ says:

Everyone looking a bit flat tonight.

  32. altru426 says:

eh, they were flat the first 3 innings yesterday too, we’ll see soon, all we need is that one inning like yesterday

    let’s go mets!

    • altru426 says:

seriously…these announcers suck….they just got so excited over a foul ball that the camera didn’t even pan away for…

  33. metsfan704 says:

The marlins radio announcers are trying to say that Luis Castillo should be charged with an AB because they think he was trying to bunt for a hint and not to move Reyes over. Maybe ownership forces their broadcasters (TV & radio) to be homers.

    • huge_mets_fan11 says:

I also hate how they call Castilla, “Louie.” I mean I know he is a former marlin but he is not on your team anymore, and he is not your best friend.

      • gomets6091 says:

also, call me crazy, but isn’t it supposed to be pronounced like “louise” – same goes for Luis Gonzalez. Man these guys are awful.

      • gipper913 says:

They call all Marlins and ex-Marlins by their first names.

Take my lead everybody (see my email higher up in this thread) and email their booth tonight, since they are doing an “email the booth” night and seem to answer an email or two per half-inning

Their email address is: askthemarlins ….AT….fsnflorida …dot…com

  34. icedrake523 says:

I think Maine is our #2 starter.

  35. CaseStreet says:

    It’s Angel time, baby.

  36. NYCESQ says:

Pedro will be fine. Mets mounting a little rally.

  37. gipper913 says:

    No mas, Pedro…no mas!!!

  38. metzelaar says:

    Alou who? Pagan RBI single.

    • HOFMets57 says:

Imagine if Omar had never plucked Pagan from the Cubs’ oblivious organization. We’d be sending Easley/Chavez/Marlon on a daily basis. With Angel, many fans are saying, “Moises, who?” Love this kid. Should have never let him go…

  39. gomets6091 says:

wow that’s a quick hook…alright, let’s hope the Marlins bullpen is comparable to the Braves or the Phillies now

  40. Aussie-Met says:

Nice piece of hitting by Delgado with the shift on, then Churchie and Pagan keep the line moving. Promising signs.

  41. metzelaar says:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! The Maroonie ad on the FSN Florida broadcast is one of the saddest, cheesiest things I have seen in all of my life.

    • gipper913 says:

And, the script is “Miami Heat fans go to Maroone for cars/trucks…” They don;t even have a script for Marlins’ games!

Nice Schneid!!!! (I am catching up via DVR).

  42. Wayneo says:

These Maroone ads are killing me.

  43. mdemaio says:

Schneider is going to be a fan favorite in short order..

  44. CaseStreet says:

Mets playin small ball. I like it.

    • altru426 says:

i’m diggin’ the small ball…national league style :-) who needs big bombs? lol, base hits are better for longer innings, look at the 6 run inning yesterday and now 3 runs today…love it

loving the bunts and base hits, i’ll take it alllllllll day long

  45. gomets6091 says:

come on Jose, no need to kill it here, just a nice little triple

  46. CaseStreet says:

Let’s load them up for Wright.

  47. mrmet it is says:

nice smart ball this inning…right back in it and into the marlins pen early.

  48. mrmet it is says:

that was not running hard at all

  49. gomets6091 says:

ok, right back in this thing….now we just can’t have Pedro pull a Glavine and give those runs right back

  50. Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

Looks like that double-digit pitch AB by Pedro is the key to the game right now.

    • rockets212 says:

no pedro in general is the key, 4 runs (hopefully no more) and a contribution to gettin to that horrible florida pen

    • metspr says:

hey to the person who ask about pedro opening day in 2005. i was there that was my first mets game and i’ll tell you something , everithing was fine the stadium was empty at the end but BLOOPER blow that save. Pedro only mistake was 3 run HR of A Dunn on a 3-1 count. i have the picture of that swing and beltran first HR as a met. 12 K thats right!!!
we are back in game pedro will win today!!!!!!!!!!

  51. metzelaar says:

Wishful thinking, but what if Pagan keeps playing like this up until Alou comes back? I mean, what would the decision there be?

    • Mets Fan on Wall St. says:

Maybe use him as the RF platoon with Church if he can’t hit LHP?

  52. twassel says:

Crap. Pedro pulled a groin or hammie. Out of the game.

  53. metsfan81 says:

and hes off to the DL

  54. HOFMets57 says:

Aw man…Who’s going to take Pedro’s place in the rotation?!?!

  55. rockets212 says:

wow holy crap wtf!!!!! hes hurt already couldnt he give us 3 weeks so el duque could get ready

  56. dykstraw says:

my pedro hammy post got blocked for profanity

i think in this case it was acceptable

  57. mza4eva says:

Talk to me Goose, what’s happening?

  58. jws366 says:

    WE ARE SCREWED!

    PANIC!!!!

  59. wolverine193 says:

Is anyone really THAT surprised? Unbelievable, it’s almost comical. See you in August Pedro.

  60. Jova1931 says:

Who put the hex on us?

  61. Ryn5 says:

One of these days I dream of a team that doesn’t collect social security checks.

  62. Joshua Lefkowitz says:

    G-d hates the Mets

  63. zen says:

there goes the mets #1 strength.

  64. metsfan81 says:

circus out there in the RF–looks like blastings out there

  65. Jova1931 says:

It’s humid in florida, so maybe it’s a cramp.

  66. Im not surprised..Pedro looked weak ….I think this will be a good thing….we have a true Ace to stop losing streaks……and Maine is really a capable #2 …so what we have to rely on BIG PELF and maybe SOSA for a couple weeks ….Im sure Pedro will miss a few starts , but I doubt more than 5 ….so for 3 – 4 weeks we should hope Pelf shows us he can pitch….and who here doesnt have confidence in Sosa?? I do….so lets just win this one and see what the MRI says…GO METS!!

  67. InsaneMetsFan says:

Did that really just happen???? I need a bar.

  68. HOFMets57 says:

Put your bets in now, when will Pedro return?

I say late May / early June.

  69. gipper913 says:

    Ugh. I need a drink.

  70. Jova1931 says:

Regardless, Pedro will miss a start because the Mets will baby him back, as they should.

    • rockets212 says:

will duque be ready and off the DL by then?

      • Jova1931 says:

It’s retroactive to March 29th, so he would be eligible to come off the DL on the 13th. The question is will El Dueque be ready by then?

  71. wolverine193 says:

Well, let’s at least win THIS game. Can’t lose Pedro AND the game

  72. 7-train says:

Is it too early to start making suicide pacts with each other? It is right? I’ll set my webcam up just in case.

  73. gomets6091 says:

my friggin MLB.tv crapped out right when everyone came out to check on Pedro….what happened? Are we 100% positive this is a DL injury, or maybe just a 3-4 days of rest type injury?

    • Jova1931 says:

It looks kinda serious. He had a noticeable limp, but he was walking under his own power.

      • gipper913 says:

He did the telltale grab back of leg hammy grab and grimaced and looked very diasappointed – though unsurprised. He did indeed walk ff with a noticeable limp.

  74. backinbusiness says:

sosa is stepping up. good job. the intentional walk to ramirez was a smart safe play when we were in a jam. let’s see what more sosa can do.

if SNY says anything about pedro, pls let us know b/c this guy with a hard on for alfredo amezega is sure not to tell us FSNers.

  75. Broadway Joe says:

wow .. pedro gone out the game …. here we go Again..!!!!!!!!!!!

  76. jimyager says:

    OH NO!!! THERE GOES PEDRO!!!!

  77. CaseStreet says:

More importantly, who’s pitching OD? I didn’t pay buku money to see Ollie pitch.

  78. wolverine193 says:

For everyone who thinks Pedro will just miss a few starts, think about how long it took Chavez to get back last season after a hammy pull

  79. gomets6091 says:

MLB.tv is back, and who knew Cookie Rojas did Marlins espanol broadcasts now? I always thought he was a good 3rd base coach

  80. metsmobile says:

does anyone know what the deal with the blackouts is? is it because my credit card info is a NY area code, because im not in new york and i can’t get the game on mlb.tv

    • huge_mets_fan11 says:

Where do you live? Because the mlb.tv should dectect the modem you have and notice that it not in the New York area.

      • metsmobile says:

i go to school in michigan

        • huge_mets_fan11 says:

Yeah i don’t know why it is blacked out. My bill goes to the New Jersey area but I live near Philly for the week and it is working fine.

  81. domosnacks5 says:

Guys, relax. Worst case scenario, he’s out a few weeks. The way this team is built, we have Armas waiting in the wings, while I know that isn’t the best option, it’s an acceptable one. Claudio Vargas is still there waiting for us to scoop him up, and El Duque is a few weeks away. Don’t press the panic button yet, this is why we got Johan. Instead of bashing Minaya, I think we should be thankful he got us our true #1 to rely on and have Pedro just as a #2/3/4, as I feel very confident in Ollie and Maine.

Let Pedro get a few extra weeks rest, let him come back strong, he worked hard in spring and I feel comfortable with him once he gets back, we are far from screwed.

  82. Jova1931 says:

We got stuck with the Yankees hamstring pull-o-rama of Spring Training ‘07, this year.

  83. huge_mets_fan11 says:

The thing I am going to hate is everyone media outlet(or at least ones that hate the Mets) will write how the “Mets are in BIG TROUBLE.” Even if Pedro is out last year, we still almost won the division last year with injuries all over the rotation last year.

  84. the_other_matt says:

    oh ma gawd

  85. CornellMetsFan says:

    what else is new

  86. Nate W. says:

Shame about Pedro, thats the kind of injury than can hamper his whole season… and it didnt even get started yet.

Hope we see a lot of Sosa tonight so he can stay in the rotation.

Awful AB by Delgado right there, up 3-1 and two bad hacks. All too familiar as well…

    • wolverine193 says:

I wouldn’t get THAT nervous. Who to say Pedro would’ve even been that great. He was throwing in the mid-80s and was getting hit pretty hard.

  87. Jova1931 says:

    Does Johan have a twin?

  88. the_other_matt says:

Remember how good this team was last season without Pedro, Johan, and Delgado’s bat…

Speaking of which, maybe Carlos can start batting Righty?

    • rockets212 says:

well were not gettin delgados bat this year and who the (bleeped over a bad word) knows about pedro

  89. zen says:

2 sac flies tonight. that’s small ball. that’s how you play the game.

  90. METS tie it up!!

  91. KingWright says:

    Pagan is the MAN.

  92. ccmetfan says:

I bet phillie and brave fans are laughing at us now for laughing at them yesterday. Luckily our offense is hitting today

  93. Jova1931 says:

I’m honestly upset that Pedro will most likely miss the Shea Home Opener.

    • wolverine193 says:

Yeah, I’d say that’s a pretty safe assumption

    • gomets6091 says:

crap, I have tickets for the April 19th Phillies game and the April 24 Nats game, and Pedro would have been up for both of them. Now I’m gonna get….who exactly?

  94. rockets212 says:

as soon as sny says anything and i mean ANYTHING!!!!!!!! post it asap for us who have to listen to this crap called FSN

  95. huge_mets_fan11 says:

Damn it is already 9 and only the bottom of the 5th, good to have baseball back.

  96. CornellMetsFan says:

depros injury will hurt, but i dont think it will be that serious. he was able to put weight on his ankle, but i think the mets should be cautious and let him get 1 or 2 starts off. i hope this doesnt become a trend

    • wolverine193 says:

Just the fact that he’s a pitcher and he needs every part of his body to be healthy to pitch effectively gets me nervous. I’ll be the optimist, I think this will be the season for Pelfrey to shine

    • rockets212 says:

yea one of two starts off is nice but thats if he dont need 2 months off (oh god i hope not)

    • MetsRmilife says:

      UPDATE:

Strained Left Hamstring DAY TO DAY

  97. Jova1931 says:

Does anyone else believe it could have just been a cramp? I mean it’s always humid as heck in Miami. And it did happen inbetween a long inning.

  98. dykstraw says:

“strained left hamstring – day to day”

  99. Jova1931 says:

So far, strained left hamstring – day-to-day. For those of you who don’t have SNY.

  100. huge_mets_fan11 says:

    Pedro has a strained hammy!

  101. mza4eva says:

DL him, let him rest it and manage for a 3/4 starts till he is ready, remember its a marathon not a sprint

  102. dykstraw says:

booth says: yeah ok day-to-day? that’s a trip to the DL.

also, gary suggested chan ho park and immediately chastised himself.

  103. huge_mets_fan11 says:

I hate day-to-day because it could turn into a month.

  104. zen says:

    day-to-day. yeah, right. i’m day-to-day…pedro’s not.

  105. CornellMetsFan says:

god damn wayne hagin is horrible

    • mza4eva says:

      i agree, I think I would rather have M&MD in the both….

    • huge_mets_fan11 says:

Someone told me that he sounded really good in Spring Training, guess not. Btw I was watching the Philly game yesterday and Tom McCarthy sounded so much happier. It was like he was a closet Phillie fan all along. Glad to see you finally came out of the closet, Tom.

  106. MetsRmilife says:

Is there a difference between a strain and pull?

  107. mrmet it is says:

i hate to say it but hamstring pulls are always underestimated. 3 to 4 weeks is reasonable. dont rush him bc it will def set him back.

  108. the_other_matt says:

    more like month to month

  109. CornellMetsFan says:

    great job, jorge.

  110. atrain311 says:

I am so dreading the conversations from guys like Kruk and all of the other talking heads of ESPN about how doomed we are.

  111. CaseStreet says:

Time for Carlos’ to earn their keep.

  112. atrain311 says:

    Make it two

  113. atrain311 says:

    Come on Ryno

  114. dykstraw says:

    this game is getting frustrating

    • atrain311 says:

Sort of like a roller coaster. Real tough in the beginning. Make a push. Get Pedro hurt. Tie it up. Look foolish by a guy in the pen.

      That’s baseball for ya.

  115. CornellMetsFan says:

schoenweis is in. you know what that means!

  116. atrain311 says:

It’s the No Show, ya it’s the big bad show tonight…

Any WWE fans out there? =)

  117. huge_mets_fan11 says:

I hope this switching pitchers after one batter thing isn’t going to be a constant reoccurence, Willie. The most important thing this season is keeping the bullpen rested.

    • atrain311 says:

I don’t mind it so much. ONLY because it is at least different from last year. I hated how WIllie managed last year, so at least it is a change. We’ll see how it works.

      • huge_mets_fan11 says:

True he does seem to be handling it different this year which is a good sign.

  118. wolverine193 says:

This bullpen still scares the crap out of me

    • huge_mets_fan11 says:

And Wright’s throws to first scare me as well.

      • atrain311 says:

What is going on with him again? I didn’t see one of those throws all ST.

        • huge_mets_fan11 says:

Idk, he is going to get Delgado injured one day which some Mets fans wouldn’t mind.

I agree. Its not like you have a lot of positive memories from last year to look back on. Hopefully by June we are talking about how its not worrisome at all when they come in.

  119. atrain311 says:

Let’s go “best pinch hitter in the game.”

  120. dykstraw says:

burkhardt: pedro heard a pop, not feeling great, limping, coming to NY for MRI

  121. pedro4545 says:

big K heilman …one more out

  122. Nate W. says:

secondary to Pedro, but a point non-the-less..

Two games played and two (effective) appearances each by Sosa, Schoe, and Heilman. This is what happened to the pen last April and May and led to the downfall of the team. They have to find the innings somewhere else sometimes.

    • zen says:

you can’t predict that pedro is going to get hurt so early in the game though. these guys were used properly. if ollie pitches well tomorrow it’s feliciano in the 8th to wags in the 9th then a day off.

    • paumanok says:

a little early to start worrying about bullpen fatigue, no?

    • Nate W. says:

yes they were used properly and yes its too early, but it is beginning to repeat a trend that caused (big) problems last year.

  123. mrose says:

come on delgado….no better time than now to work on that confidence

  124. Nate W. says:

David Wright … warning track power only in Miami.

  125. huge_mets_fan11 says:

That inning really made me mad, the first 4 batters got to 3-0 and we only got two walks to show for it. Then when this pitcher couldn’t throw a strike, Church goes after the first pitch.

    • dykstraw says:

i can’t complain about anyone but church there. castillo tried to work the walk, wright jumped on a pitch to hit, beltran and delgado got on.

  126. Nate W. says:

gotta appreciate the versatility of Amezaga.

No one could figure out who would play 1B when Ross came into PH for Jacobs. But Cantu can move over because Amezaga can move from CF to 3B mid game. Not many could hangle being used like that on a regular basis so props to him.

When is he a FA? :)

  127. zen says:

    beltran!

  128. CornellMetsFan says:

great play- and for anyone listening to the fan, how good is howie rose?

  129. mrose says:

    wooo Carlos!!

    • Nate W. says:

Real nice hussle running in hard all the way on that play and throwing on the run. The ball wasnt going to make it to him, gold glove play all the way.

  130. paumanok says:

uggla’s on my fantasy team – that was the best of both worlds

  131. dykstraw says:

i feel like we’ve left 100 guys on

  132. mrose says:

    man…
wise was pitching so well too

you can tell he was bothered by the 2-0 count that could have easily been 0-2

  133. Slob says:

Way to calm Wise down, Delgado.

  134. Joshua Lefkowitz says:

Unreal….career .198 average. Shades of Molina hitting that changeup off Heilman. Disgusting.

  135. metsftw says:

    figures.

  136. zen says:

    161-1 or bust

  137. Nate W. says:

well we’ve learned that the Marlins pen is better than the Mets pen…

Good luck Ollie, they need you to be big tomorrow.

  138. pedro4545 says:

this was not a good night for the mets…s#%^!

  139. Wayneo says:

Put in the guy from the pen that did the worst yesterday, makes sense.

  140. MetsRmilife says:

For the second game of the season this could not have gone much worse…

    • Nate W. says:

      define ‘much worse’ ?

Wright and Schneider collide on a foul pop up and take out Santana falling into the dugout?

  141. therealsince86 says:

Wise has been the bad luck guy so far. He has not pitched that poorly but those are the breaks. Should have just left him alone. Who was due up next anyway if he had walked him? I am sure they said this is Ahern, just get in there and make him put the ball in play. Oh well, loss seems to hurt much more with the Pedro thing.
I am sure there will be 500 post after this but lets remain calm for now.

  142. icedrake523 says:

Can we get a bat in the bottom of that lineup? Does anyone really want to see Angel Pagan hit something in the ground and try to outrun it all the time?

    Get Juan Rivera, Omar.

    • therealsince86 says:

Bottom of the lineup has actually been doing decent. Poster boys did not come through tonight.

      • icedrake523 says:

You add a bat in the bottom of the lineup and the poster boys get pitched to differently.

    • therealsince86 says:

I think at this point the idea I mentioned a couple of weeks ago about Murton and Marquis sounds even better right now.

    • metzelaar says:

Are you effing serious, man? Pagan drove in half of the runs today. In two games he has an many ribbies as D-Wright. Of all the things to complain about…

      • icedrake523 says:

Are YOU serious? Do you really thing Pagan is going to keep it up all year? He’s just carrying a hot ST. This team needs a real, everyday player. Pagan is a decent player but he’s just a guy you use a couple games here and there to relieve a starter. Alou is never going to play enough games to make a difference.

        • metzelaar says:

I don’t want to hear anything about Pagan until he’s actually doing something to hurt this team. He’s played a key role in both today and yesterday’s game. So whether you want to admit it or not, he’s NOT the problem. Get over it.

To crucify him for stats from years past, and a “hot” spring training is quite possibly the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.

  143. Joshua Lefkowitz says:

Why throw a changeup to a terrible hitter? It’s a gift. Keith was just saying that and boom – the guy hits the ball to Tallahasee. Very, very tough loss. They need to brush this disaster off, throw it in the rearview mirror and come back and beat these guys tomorrow.
