It’s the History Channel that carries much of the UFO specials.

People are infatuated with conspiracy theories. The 9/11 conspiracy theory will go on forever.

But I can see putting a spin on an injury report to avoid the appearance of desperation if you should desire to make a trade to fill a position left short by injury. In football spinning an injury report leaves an opposition wondering if the player is available to play and whether to prepare for him in the game plan.

Actually I think because its minor that considering Perdro’s age, they are estimating 4 weeks.

I am not sure about the stats but i bet April has the highest amount of injuries to pitchers.

This is not bad – a shorter season for the older pitchers means more arm strength in Sept. And younger pitchers benefit from the batters being a little behind. I think that gives unknown AAA pitchers an advantage at the beginning of the season.

Sosa was 6-0 last year in first 7 starts.

Duque is not coming back on 4/12.

If you need 8 relievers to avoid taxing the bullpen, you have major problems.

I just don’t get why Figueroa was rushed here just to sit around for over a week.

Let’s say a starter goes down with an injury in the first inning. You need another starter. Being down a starter already you can’t afford to tax the bullpen any more than you need to. Remember this is April, not August.
Figueroa is only going to pitch on April 11th as El Duque will be back on the 12th. Rather than jump to any conclusions, the safe move is to bring up Figs and let him pitch the one game. At worst he goes 3 innings, you used your bullpen for the one game and you bring someone else up or you sign Claudio Vargas. We aren’t at that point yet.

Do you watch alot of UFO specials on SciFi?

Why would the Mets be lying? To assuage the fears of all of the neurotic, paranoid fans on metsblog?

I really don’t think the Mets, or any other team, “spins” injuries. These are human beings with real bodies – they get hurtm a projection is made, and that’s all it is. sometimes it’s right, sometimes the player comes back quicker, sometimes longer.

It’s nothing for Mel Gibson to write a sequel to “Conspiracy Theory” about…

Sorry to interupt all the doomsdayers, but my questions is, if Figueroa is going to start next Saturday against Milwaukee, why is he here? Shouldn’t he take a turn in New Orleans and leave his spot for now for an extra bench player? Even if he pitches out of the pen in the next few days, do we really need 8 pitchers in the bullpen?

Seems like a knee-jerk call-up. You’ve got 4 starters for a week and a half, call up someone you can use.

This isn’t really news. I fully expected at least one DL stint for Pedro. It’s not the end of the world, but I expect set backs like this all season from him and the other old man, El Dookie.

Thank goodness for Santana. It just makes that move look so much better now with Pedro going down.
