as was reported last night, Pedro Martinez has been put on the 15–day disabled list with a mild strain to his left hamstring.
He is expected to be out four to six weeks.
Following last night’s win, Willie Randolph told reporters that he
feels mostly bad for Martinez, more than he feels bad for the team, adding:
“We don’t trip on stuff like that, ya know. We’ve been a solid team, a together-team, ever since I’ve been here. These guys believe in each other. We love to play and get after it. If you’re here with us and join the party, that’s great. We’ll invite you, you’re there…That’s why I love this group. They don’t make excuses, they just play.”
…what in god’s name is he talking about…seriously…who is invited to the party…and what party…is it me…should i wear a tux…man, i hope not…and i love that he still uses the word, ‘trip,’ like it’s 1992…he makes me laugh, probably because i am not a beat writer…i would probably have a different opinion if i had to extract quotes from him myself, but, from here it’s hilarious…
Prior to the game, Randolph told reporters that he may choose to pitch Oliver Perez on Tuesday, in the home opener, with Nelson Figueroa getting a start later in the week against the Brewers.
Following the game he appeared no closer to a final decision.

Tagged Pedro Martinez |During last night’s broadcast on SNY, Keith Hernandez hesitated when asked which team’s hat he would wear if accepted in to the Hall of Fame.
Initially he said he didn’t expect to ever be in the Hall of Game, but Gary Cohen pressed the issue, so Hernandez
answered, ‘The Mets,’ because blue is his favorite color…
…as i said last night, you’re calling Mets games, keith, in front of Mets fans, who you know are in love with you, so just say Mets, especially knowing that a) you are not getting in to the Hall, which is a shame, frankly, and b) if you do, you have no say about your hat anyway…
