As for your "Omar's taking marching orders from Willie" remark, you're kidding right? Managers and GMs work together all the time when it comes to the roster. If Willie didnt like Gotay as it was stated and was forced into having to play him because Easley couldnt handle it for the reason I gave above, then yes, Willie, or any manager for that matter, could ask for another secondbaseman. Doesnt mean he would get one but he definetly can voice his concern and reason for wanting one. But thats not what may have happened anyway. Omar might have went on his own to get Castillo.
