i did everything during the day so i can watch the game. i hate rain

    • Nate W. says:

“The Mets’ rotation will not be adversely affected, as Friday night’s scheduled starter, John Maine, will start on Saturday, with Johan Santana making his scheduled start on Sunday afternoon. Mike Pelfrey, who was to make his 2008 debut on Saturday will instead take the ball on Wednesday at Shea against the Phillies. (leaving Perez on the home opener)

Atlanta will push its rotation back a day, with Friday night’s scheduled starter, Tim Hudson, going on Saturday and Saturday’s starter, Tom Glavine, facing off against Santana on Sunday. ”

  2. MudvilleNine says:

OK, no game. Home opener maybe Santana now since Willie said he doesnt want to skip anybody. Now just waiting for the fallout from the Glavine interview. Proceed…

  3. 7-train says:

    Damn it.

I had the Mets at +110. With the Braves depleted bullpen and Maine on the hill for us that’s the best odds you’re ever going to see on a mismatch. I hope they post the same odds tomorrow.

    • KFS says:

you kidding? Tomorrow with the same odds is 50/50. Hudson is on the mound, their bullpen is rested, and we are away. I’d save your money tomorrow and wait for another day.

      • 7-train says:

That’s why I was bummed. Their bullpen was the big key. Mets should have been -140 or so. +110 was a steal. I think I will stay off it.

  4. KFS says:

Santana for home opener or would they skip Pelfrey in the rotation?

    • letz_go_mets08 says:

let pelfrey pitch a simulated game tomorrow and start maine, santana, and perez against the braves…… it’s too important of a series to miss this opportunity

      • KFS says:

More important than the Phillies in the home opening series?

        • letz_go_mets08 says:

good point…..yeah but we get another day off on monday, and i say start your best pitchers on their normal rest as much as possible especially against division rivals

        • Number41 says:

he must pitch the home opener….
cuz I got tix to Sun the 13th and that means I get to see him!
For field box $40 from St****b!

      • stellar says:

We’ll only face the Braves twice (Saturday and Sunday). Today’s game is rescheduled for May 20.

Perez would get opening day against the Sillies.

      • KFS says:

…and there’s only 2 games against the Braves.

  5. wrighteous says:

What about Hudson and Glavine? Are they gonna push back Glav to Sunday so Hudson can go tomorrow?

  6. k-mets says:

There are two diiferent stories: John Delcos stated that pitching rotation will be: Maine, Santana, Oliver Pelf, Main, then Santana. While Adam posted that everyone will be posted back on day.

    • MudvilleNine says:

Yeah, Gary, Ron, and Keith said Willie would push them all back one day, not wanting to skip anybody.

      • NYMetz6986 says:

but then santana would be pitching the home opener on 7 days rest…thats absurd

  7. cb32 says:

anyone see the link last month on where to see hockey games online? I am trying to track the Carolina-Florida game and there was a link posted last month where you could get any game streamed for free.

Need something to do since there will be no game today…and likely tomorrow. Check the weather

  8. InsaneMetsFan says:

Santana will be the Opening day Starter, the only game they will get in is the Sunday game. Heavy Rain is forecasted in Atlanta all day Saturday. It’s a one game series.

    • therealsince86 says:

You don’t think they will do a double on Sunday if that is the case?

    • MetsWrightNow says:

By 4 PM tomorrow, there is only a 30% chance of rain, and that will diminish as the day gets later. Other than the fact that it’s supposed to be the “National Game” on FOX tomorrow, I don’t see why they can’t just announce that the start time of tomorrow’s game has been changed to tomorrow night. That would be a smart decision, IMHO.

      • Number41 says:

        it’s 3:30 start anyways

      • NYMetz6986 says:

that wont happen but lets just hope this game gets started by ab 5 tomorrow…otherwise im gonna be very dissapointed

      • Chiefman says:

Your weather report is way too optimistic. Here is the Saturday forecast as of 9 p.m Friday:

“Tomorrow: Rain likely, heavy at times early. High 63F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph. Rainfall may reach one inch. ”

How a baseball game gets played with that forecast is beyond me. Personally I hope we do play because I live in Atl and have tickets for the game. But it does not look good and the Mets have two more Atl visits later on this season for makeup purposes.

        • m00kie says:

I’m about 4 hours from atlanta and it’s been raining pretty hard for a bit..

I believe the rain is forcasted to move off by mid afternoon, and with the 4 o’clock start they may have a chance to get in a game, though a soggy one. Should be clear on Sunday..

  9. Mr. Bananagrabber says:

    Tomorrow’s forecast:

Sunny skies with a 100% chance of awesome.

    Lets go Mets!

  10. Wheelhouse19 says:

Showers are tapering off tomorrow in Atlanta at 4…and only getting clearer after that. Game time is 3:55 so worst case scenario…they delay it 30 minutes.

There’s no way they will call the game tomorrow, after this one was washed out tonight. You’ll get 2 games in.

Maine tomorrow, Pelfrey Sunday….Let Johan open it at Shea. I know there are plenty of fans are here that were complaining about that all week….so now you have your wish.

    • NYMetz6986 says:

i like your optimism…i hope they get it in but i think santana has to go on sunday otherwise hell be on 7 days rest for tuesday which is just way too long

    • The Glider says:

Are you crazy? Pelfey on Sunday against the Braves while moving Santana off his normal start date? No no no no no.

  11. MetsFanInVegas says:

You don’t mess with Santana, your number 1 ace, he’s gonna pitch Sunday as planned

    • Wheelhouse19 says:

SNY seemed to suggest that this early in the season….Willie doesn’t want to skip any pitchers.

If thats true…Santana opens in Flushing in 3 days.

  12. metsin080910 says:

With two games in this series. I would pitch Maine tomorrow, Pelf Sunday. Give Santana an extra days rest (or two with the day off). Let him pitch the Opener against Philly. Set the tone early.

  13. m00kie says:

    from metsDOTcom marty noble:

“The Mets’ rotation will not be adversely affected, as Friday night’s scheduled starter, John Maine, will start on Saturday, with Johan Santana making his scheduled start on Sunday afternoon. Mike Pelfrey, who was to make his 2008 debut on Saturday will instead take the ball on Wednesday at Shea against the Phillies.

Atlanta will push its rotation back a day, with Friday night’s scheduled starter, Tim Hudson, going on Saturday and Saturday’s starter, Tom Glavine, facing off against Santana on Sunday. ”

I think this makes sense and I look forward to seeing Sunday’s Santana vs. Glavine!

    • m00kie says:

      delcos confirms this:

“So much for moving everybody back a day.

John Maine vs. Tim Hudson tomorrow. Johan Santana vs. Tom Glavine on Sunday.

Oliver Perez, Mike Pelfrey, John Maine and Johan Santana will get the next four games.”

  14. metsin080910 says:

So Perez Opening Day, Pelfrey, then who? Maine again?

    • Nate W. says:

yes, Maine again for the last game against the Phillies then Santana against the Brewers.

skipping Pelfrey makes the most sense because of the off day.

  15. Wheelhouse19 says:

Nice….I’d rather Santana throw Sunday anyway. It’s supposed to be a nice warm day.

Perfect day to mow down some tomohawks. Hopefully Glavine is done after 4!

    • stickguy says:

how about 1/3, like the last game I attended?

Not that is still bugs me or anything…

Well, if they do push Santana back, at least I get to see the new guy for my $117. Much better than watching the Phils tee off on PelFiggy.

  16. metsin080910 says:

Let’s hope Pelfrey makes it out of the 4th against the Phillies.

  17. Nate W. says:

Dauner’s rehab debut didnt go very well, two homers in his inning.

Pitcher Change: Duaner Sanchez replaces Dylan Owen.
Ryan Royster homers (1) on a line drive to left field.
    Nevin Ashley grounds out,
    Matthew Fields strikes out swinging.
Garrett Groce homers (1) on a fly ball to left field.
Jairo De La Rosa singles on a bunt ground ball to third base.
With John Matulia batting, Jairo De La Rosa caught stealing 2nd base.

    • hovanomics says:

Why would the Mets not just pitch Pelfrey on Sunday and Johan Tuesday? That way you have Johan, Perez and Maine against the Phillies.

      • m00kie says:

you revolve the schedule around your ace. Johan has prepared all week like he’s pitching Sunday, you don’t mess with that. Skipping Pelfrey makes the most amount of sense. This early in the season, no reason to make a big deal out of this series or that series .. just win games. That said, games against the Braves mean as much as the ones against the Phils.

        • hovanomics says:

I understand that logic, I just thought it would be good if you could set up your rotation that way.

        • Wheelhouse19 says:

Mookie makes complete sense. You don’t throw Johan off schedule when hes been preparing all week for Atlanta. I basically said the same thing 2 days ago.

JUST WIN GAMES. Some of you guys are WAY too wrapped up in who pitches against who and when.
Braves, Phillies, Marlins, etc…..a win is a win, and they all count the same. If Johan pitches against the Braves at Turner, or Philly at Shea…what exactly is the difference? Just win the damn game. Trust me…he will pitch against the Phillies plenty this year.

I really hope this doesn’t continue all year with “Lets line Johan up to pitch against this team or that team” There are other guys on this team including Mr. Pelfrey who are going to have to step up and pitch good games. Its not a 1 man rotation.

  18. boozermetsfan says:

God I hate rainouts. All day looking forward to this game. At least there’s MLB Extra Innings Preview, fantasy baseball and gambling.

  19. jpnym15 says:

    blue 42 jizzum is goo

  20. clay says:

Off topic…where is the best place to buy tickets for mets home games? My wife and I will be in the city on April 15 and want to get the best deal? Any thoughts?

  21. Steal Home Jose! says:

Carlos Gomez is still tearing it up. 3 for 4, 2 more steals.

    • The Glider says:

Yeah, how about that? Good for him. I wish him well. Gives me a little more faith in our farm system too.

    • Wheelhouse19 says:

We seriously don’t need updates every time Carlos Gomez does something good. He doesn’t play for our team anymore….its seriously time to let it go, as well as all the Bannister whining. Let’s concern ourselves with OUR team and the future.

No point in keeping tabs on players and things we cannot change. Let me remind you however, that for Carlos Gomez we got JOHAN SANTANA! You cant have everyone.

  22. LOL. I want to pitch a fit. I really do. I was hoping by some chance I’d get to see Johan vs the Phillies. Now I have absoutely no clue when I’d be able to see him pitch, ESPN barely has any Met games planned for the next few weeks.

And TBS needs to burn for getting rid of those Braves games. I feel so childish. At least I get to see Maine tomorrow.

  23. jpnym15 says:

haha, hey maybe the rain was a good thing..now the mets are in first place..washington lost again

  24. magic00700magic says:

    Maine – Saturday

    Santana- Sunday

    ———- – Monday (off day)

    Ollie- Tueday

    Pelfrey- Wedneday

    Maine- Thursday

Santana- Friday **** I assume they pitch Santana here since he would be rested. However, if they pitch FIFTH starter, then Santanawoudl slip to saturday and would then be in line to pitch against the Phillies the following week. If Santana pitches Friday, he will miss the Phillies series.

    ?Sosa/Figueroa?- Saturday

    Ollie- Sunday

    ———- – Monday (off day)

    • magic00700magic says:

Actually, ignore that comment above. Whether or not Santana pitches Friday or Saturday, he will end up pitching next against the Nats and as a result miss the Phillies series. My bad.

    • magic00700magic says:

Actually, they way I view it…..when we play Phillies in Philly.

      It will be

      Ollie- Friday
      FIFTH Starter- Saturday
      Maine- Sunday

      working backwards

Pelf- Thurday N.B. this would have been FIFTH starters day, but, you bump him and pitch a well rested Pelf. However, you could choose to keep Fifth Starter here (against the Nats), and just pitch Pef on the Saturday game against the Phillies.
      Santana- Wedesday
Maine- Tuesday N.B. this would have been Pelf’s day, but given the off day, you bump Pelf and pitch Maine on 5 day rest.
      —– – Monday (off day)
      Ollie – Sunday
      FIFth starter – Saturday

  25. Charlie says:

Well, the forecast calls for heavy rain all day today in Atlanta, so probably another rain out. Damn!

  26. theCoop says:

I know we don’t ideally want to see the pitchers go that long between starts in the rotation but I think it makes better sense to have Johan pitch against the Phils next and start Pelf tomorrow against the Braves. It’s still early, we have the rest of the season to recover – plus as someone says, Johan won’t be due to pitch against the Phils till when??? Unreal – I thought we got him to pitch against the division rivals and not lump the crap out of smaller teams like Nats or Marlins. OHHHH the pain. Whatever
