I wasn’t hitting him from the other side. My issue with Willie has been that he pulls pitchers too quickly, which means they don’t get used to pitching beyond their comfort zones. Leaving Sosa in was the right move — they were down by 2, on the road, and had already burned 2 relievers (with Wise unavailable), leaving only Wags, Heilman, Feliciano and Figueroa, and 3 of them are good for 1 or 2 innings max.

In fact, Feliciano is more valuable to this team than Willie. We could hire any manager on the unemployment line and we would upgrade.

I have a feeling that Willie’s approval rating be almost solely affected by the outcome of the series or just the last game of the series.

Willie could manage perfectly, but if we get swept or lose 2 of 3, he’s gonna take a major hit.

it’s a minority of wack-jobs who fill the threads with hate for willie. last year metsblog did a poll and a clear majority want to keep willie even after the collapse. the first poll of this year showed 89% support for willie’s job approval

That might be a valid criticism, but it is the opposite of what happened yesterday when Randolph left Sosa in for too long, and got killed for it by the Willie-haters.

You can criticize the guy all you want, but to do it from two different sides is suspect.

I wonder if Wise was trying to hide an issue to look tough for his new team — and that led to his poor outings in Florida?

I see why NBW doesn’t like Willie’s managing — and I share a dislike of Willie’s use of pitchers. I think he uses too many arms for short stints, leaving them short in late innings — and forcing people to warm up & sit down too often.
