We should totally pick him...at 25 years he has still room and time to improve, besides a guy with a 95+MPH fastball with command is always useful to have...

Btw, isnt he something like Pelfrey? Age, stuff, struggling...

I'm highly dubious that Texas will allow a young pitcher with good stuff to get away for nothing. It's not like the Rangers are awash in pitching! He's definitely worth a look, but not for a prospect of any real value. It is also important to note that he pitched in Texas, which would inflate his ERA a bit.

If the jacket can fix Perez, why not let him work with this guy?

bvaz,

I agree. He is young, 25, with a live arm. The kind of guy you take a flyer on as a AAA pitcher and see what you can do with him. You correct a few things and you have the next Ollie.

I know...it just pisses me off. Don't forget that he started his Mets career just like he ended it. I was hoping he'd do the same with the Braves.

Glavine started last year and the year before like that as well. It was the 2nd half of the season when his 40 something arm started to kills us probably due to fatigue.

He is likely out of options, but doesnt have the service time to make his one choice. If he clears waivers Texas can send him to thier own AAA team. If a team trades for him, he likely has to stay on the 25 man roster or be DFA by his new team. I doubt Texas will lose him for nothing.

Once he clears waivers he does become much more tradable though, as he can go to minors or majors.

I think being designated for assignment means that the team has 10 days to trade, release, or send to the minors.

The thing is, I think, Tejeda is in the same boat as Gotay was and is out of options/ will have to be subjected to waivers before the Rangers can send him to the minors.

This leads me to believe that the Rangers would have the same intent as the Mets did with Gotay: 1) risk the player on waivers, hoping he passes and put him in the minors or 2) the player is picked-up on waivers... so be it.

If I'm right, Tejeda will either be in the Rangers minor league affiliate or on another major league roster by waiver claim... i.e. not the Mets, although I would like him in New Orleans.

Tejeda is interesting. He has good stuff, a la a Maine or PErez, and the Rangers are obviously down on him. Seems like Omar's m.o. Cheap high upside pickup and see what the jacket could do with him. I am all for it. Go out and try to get Daniel Cabrera too while youre at it. I cant help but believe with his stuff he will put it all topgether at some point, even if only for a year or two.

(by the way, how long can texas leave tejada in limbo like this? don't they have to put him on waivers soon if he is out of options?)
