But, the Mets needed to have too MANY starting pitchers going into the season. They needed young solid #3's to be the #5, even if they had to overpay to get it. You can't rely on the Pelfrey's, D. Even though because I live in Nashville and missed both Atlanta games (one due to blackout and the other, which was on Fox so even if i had the opportunity to watch it i might not have...mccarver and buck make me sick since the NLCS...because of other issues) from what I've seen so far, I prefer to focus on the positives: Delgado, although without power, is hitting (I can't believe I just typed that). Pagan looks good. Church is hitting LHP. Johann is as advertised. Beltran seems to have some urgency that i've never seen before. Wright is the superstar we all knew he would be. Sosa, other than that outing in Atlanta (again, which i only read about) looks pretty much the same as last year. Oliver looks great...through one start... And a few negatives, all of which were expected... Reyes is young and still lets great pitchers (hudson, smoltz) use his aggressiveness against him... I used to call Castillo "Father Time" but i think that moniker fits Petey as well... Maine is not ready to shoulder the load of a true ace (although I still feel like we can pencil in 15-18 wins). Oh well, I'm tired, I need to sleep before my shift starts again, but i'm setting my alarm to at least get the first inning of the home opener in before I gotta run.
