I seriously bet other teams organizations laugh at the Mets for have Willie as there manager.

Can't we just fire this guy.... its not like any other team will hire him.. so we can just hire him back when we need a KILLJOY as a manager

Very true. The players aren't that good.

Dr. Toomany's prescription:

Give manager until May, unless team goes on huge losing streak. Fire if under .500. Harsh, but necessary given unique circumstances of last year's team.

Call up Andy Hernandez and bench Reyes for a game if he swings at a first pitch.

Cut Schoeneweis. I don't care that it was Delgado's fault. The guy can't get righties out. Eat the salary, send the message.

Of course, none of this is anything close to a guaranteed fix. Impact will be minimal, at best, and could backfire. But, if we get to May and are still stumbling along like we have since last June, we have to do something for its own sake.

Can anyone think of a team in the last decade more overrated than this piece of crap we have to watch for the next 156 games?

I've been a big willie supporter and have thought much of the criticism was unfair. But just 6 games in...I'm beginning to have second thoughts. His romantic notions of ole school baseball are getting annoying. He has a whole year of substandard bullpen use to learn from ['07]. One of the takeaways was that Shoeneweis plays well away and to lefties. So what does Willie do? He brings in Shoeneweis in a spot where he has proven not to succeed.

"Testing your guys" and "seeing what they got" are great for the movies. And Delgado's error does not absolve Shoeneweis from his poor outing.

And for pete's sakes...can someone knock Utley off the plate?!?! Willie needs to toughen these guys up.

"Omar can only work within the confines of his budget."
- they have the third highest payroll in the game, idiot.

"So, he has to spend little and hope to get alot."
- like keeping milledge and saving payroll for guys like perez and texiera in the offseason.

Joe Torre succeeded because his players loved playing for him,,, he was an average tactical manager but his players came to play ever day for him..

and Willie tries to be like Torre,, the only problem with that is that NO ONE LIKES WILLIE AND THEY DON'T RESPECT HIM

Anyone who thinks its too early to get angry must forget losing the division by one game last year because of all the fking games like this that we lost during the season thanks to willie/bullpen/no heart offense.

Wow, Show was one of the biggest if not the biggest contracts given to a middle reliever the previous winter. If he was a 2nd tier guy, why pay him like a first tier guy? That's not the owners fault.

Ownership just gave out the richest contract in ML history for a starter, gave out the richest contract in ML history for a closer a few years back, and gave out the richest contract for a centerfielder when they signed Beltran.

And yet the Wilpons are cheap.

Also, this idea that the Mets don't have a great farm system because of being cheap is baloney. No one who claims that can ever back it up with anything other than Beato, an 18th round pick.

Omar has the biggest budget in the NL. If his competitors can be more competitive with smaller budgets, then he's the problem.

Some of you are pathetic. You just can't bear to put any of the blame on Omar when he deserves most of it.
