You would have to consider it. Wright and Utley are probably even, Reyes and Rollins are about the same with the glove but Reyes is faster buy Rollins has more power, and no one on this team has Howard's power. If I only care about winning NOW, then I don't care about a couple of years in age.

Well, no matter what happens I know where I will be tonight for the game's first pitch, and yes it will be parked in front of the tube with a cold beer.

I just hope I don't pop a blood vessel and have to start pounding down brewskies to stay sane tonight.

Go Big PELF! Throw strikes early in the count and a bunch of them tonight. Let the defense play, and may the Mets bats come alive. Reyes 3 for 4, 2 bags stolen and 2 runs scored. Let's ReyeK (reek) a little havoc!

he is correct. Met fans have become paranoid, waiting for the other shoe to drop. It's time we got over 2007 and concentrate on 2008. Booing Jimmy Rollins seems to backfire on us every time. The guy is a great player and he walked the walk. Stop obsessing over the Phillies (and the Yankees).

I'm starting to see your point.

I am kinda tired or everyone bitching about the Lastings deal though. So far Church and Schnieder don't look like bad moves. Granted it is early yet, but Church alone has better numbers and Schnieder has looked better offensively than I expected. Long term I think Lastings is going to be a head case and a problem child.

The Santana deal was a good one. We had to give up youngsters for it, but it is worth it. I would like to see more young talent on the team though and less retirement parties.

Well, on the bright side we wont have to see Mota again!! Also, I think bringing in Wise was a good move if and when he gets healthy. The deals such as the Schoenweiss one are particularly bad for baseball. Relief pitching is notoriously inconsistent from year to year, to sign these types of players for 3 years is just bad business. Although I think that these kind of deals are a state of the game today, alot of them will be regreted for a long time. Advanced scouting is one thing actually getting your players to play to their full potential is another. I'm quite sure over the last 2+ seasons that Wille Randolph is not much of a motivator

I posted elsewhere that maybe some more changes were needed to erase the 07 hangover, particularly in the bullpen. Again, I'm not sure how much could have been done there. Every pen blows games, but its going to be tough to see the same guys blow games and not think of 07 every time.

Haven't you seen the Bank of America commercial with Ron Darling - "When two good teams play, it comes down to who wants it more." Ironic.

definitely a problem there, but I wonder about advanced scouting as well - their knowledge/preparation for other teams, particularly in our division. Why does it seem we are always pitched to better , or can't get guys out (Burrell for petes sake, see his lifetime stats against us?)

Granted, I know nothing of the subject of advanced scouting I just am amazed at how poorly they play against these teams.
