so, what are they going to do the first time the mets play a 3:55pm game on FOX, i.e. the last late-afternoon start?

  2. fortleemets says:

Should this have been done last night or the night before?

  3. rustysribs says:

The way a lot of Met fans are commenting lately, maybe they should use black and blue.

    lastings milledge is awesome

    • mrose says:

what do you bring to this blog? i’m just asking..because i enjoy a good debate on here but all you ever do is paste ill advised and ill placed comments about milledge…its very tired..and its still april

    • rM teM says:

      awesome trade bait.

      • mackey_sassers_arm says:

exactly. We turned that overhyped punk into a better right fielder and an upgrade at catcher… I love milledge, especially when he is on a different team.

    • hbean says:

Yah, he was awesome to get Schneider and Church, two of about 4 or 5 bright spots on the team atm.

  5. Mr.Spock says:

How about no lights and a minute of silence for yesterday’s game?

  6. metzelaar says:

Good riddance, Shea. You’ve brought us nothing but heartbreak these past few decades.

    • Charlie says:

      and, two world series championships…

      • metzelaar says:

We deserved way more than 2

        • Frank Taveras says:

And it was the stadium’s fault that they didn’t win more than two?

        • metzelaar says:

Yeah. It has some kind of voodoo hex on it. We’ll be better off in Citi Field.

But, seriously, we’ve gotten kicked around pretty well recently at Shea. I’d like Citi Field to be our version of Turner Field (see: we win 2/3rds of our games against division rivals there) Just wishful thinking.

  7. Well, I’m going tonight. Yeah I’m a little bummed that they couldn’t get it done yesterday but after hearing Utley on the Fan today, I have a feeling that the Phillies are getting a little too cocky. And I’m hoping that’ll backfire on them just as it did to the Mets last year when they were the cocky ones.

    • mrose says:

i’ll go along with that hope

    • sincekindergarten says:

“I have a feeling that the Phillies are getting a little too cocky.”

So do I. I seem to remember that, when they started 4-13, we revelled in the agony that was going on in Phillthadelphia. And they finished . . . and revelled in our agony.

Now, we start the season on a sour note . . . See where I’m going with this one?

I just hope the building doesn’t collapse….. then again if it does I am sure Willie will be there to comfort us with some wisdom like…. “it’s a big city, there are at least another 161 buildings left”

  9. Santana-Mera says:

Ok I’m very off topic here but I FINALLY am able to post! Haven’t been able to post since Cerrone changed the new format!

My screen name is Santana-Mera. It’s a suggestion toward the CHANT we should give Santana at Shea!

The melody is an old Spanish song sang by Celia Cruz….

    It Goes “San-tana-mera, oh Jo-han San-tana-mera, San-tana-meraaaaaa, oh jo-han san-tana-mera!”

  10. Roach2 says:

OK, Castillo out and day-to-day…pagan hitting 2nd, easley 7th.

Can we get a Freddy Garcia signing or what?

    • Frank Taveras says:

Don’t worry about Castillo. Its not like they signed an over-the-hill, injury-prone second baseman with declining speed who relies on drag bunts and infield hits to a long-term deal.

      Wait, what?

      • Roach2 says:

I’m honestly not worried about Castillo…there’s nothing I or anyone can say to ease some of the discontent, but i’m fully confident he will surprise a many dissenter

    • Wheelhouse22 says:

      What a lineup!!

  11. Wheelhouse22 says:

I think the chant should be “Everyone throw batteries at Scott Showenweis”

  12. Wheelhouse22 says:

This just in: (4/9/08 AP) In honor of the Mets final season at shea Stadium, the Empire State building will be illuminated in orange and blue.

Also, NYC has rented a mega-wattage spotlight which will shine an enormous red cross on the side of the Empire State building, in honor of all the fallen Mets thus far in the season, and the many many more to come.

  13. AWH says:

Throwing batteries at your own players?

Boy, steM heads (Muts fans) are classy!!!

Hey metzelaar, what makes you so special that you “deserve” it more than any other team’s fans?

    You’re an idiot!

“DESERVE” HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.
