Schoeneweis defnintely answered the bell last night, and he deserves praise for it. I thought that the hand he got as he was coming off the field, as Sosa was coming in, was well-deserved. We all get on him pretty good when he screws up. There's another side to that coin, fellow members.

Scott, you did good. Real good. Kudos from my perspective north of the Mohawk (River).

Also, whoda thunk our two corner outfielders would have driven in the runs? The way some people were raking Omar over the coals for getting rid of the 'tude that is Milledge, and getting Ryan Church in return, you'd think Willie Mays was traded away--in his prime.

Maybe the return of Reyes to form . . . ? But a great win for the team.

You make a hell of a point. Pagan, Church, and even Brian Schneider have been great so far. If only our own all-stars would play with the fire of these role players we'd be in great shape. Maybe we should turn over the whole lineup, cut payroll and reap the rewards of players who play to win and love the game instead of players anxiously trying to live up to their contracts and how great they've told us they are. I appreciate that Mr. Wright has become great at dealing with the press, i.e. making excuses (willies biggest talent as well) but is anyone tired of hearing wright's painfully in depth analysis of every loss. SHUT F**K UP AND RAKE. And let Jose Jump around, dance, scream, spit on people, incite riots, bench clearing brawls, whatever it takes. Let the kid play his game and let Willie collect unemployment if he doesn't like it. The time to let go of willie isn't after 8 games, it was after his 1st interview. Mets could have owned the last 2 pennants under a different manager. You don't get to play those seasons over. Just had to chime in with some reality for those of you who are giddy with the win today. If Willie doesn't get the blame when his players don't produce he doesn't get the credit when they do and none of it changes the fact that he doesn't fit this team and never will. If the Mets do anything it will be in spite of him, not because of him.

I just came back from the game and what a game it was. Both starting pitchers were good and the bullpen was ok expect for Heilman and Gordon. Overall I thought it was a good game for both teams. The Mets hitting needs to wake up more. If it wasn't for Pagan,we might of lost. Beltran looks lost at the plate. Another thing about tonight at the stadium was that the Met fans were booing the hell out of the Philly fans. Also people were throwing stuff at the Philly fans lmaoo. I also forgot that a fat kid was running through the stadium saying Mets rule lmaoo.

Mets winn woooooooooooooooooo

8th. As mentioned, if he gets on, pitcher bunts him over, Reyes comes up with a RISP. Seems ideal.

Well Willie didn't sign him to the contract, so I don't think he cares much about that.

Additionally, if you're a good manager, you don't care what kind of money the guy makes, or what kind of contract he has. You make the lineup and rotation based on ability and who is doing their job. Castillo hasn't cut it so far, and Pagan has been, in my opinion, the only clutch player on the Mets thus far (Santana excluded, naturally). He came through with BIG hits today, including THE big hit. He deserves to stay with the team, and stay in the 2 hole.

Do you actually think that Willie is going to bat Castillo 7th in the line-up? Or 8th? . . . after signing him to a 4 year contract!!!!!! No way. That won't happen. When Castillo is healthy, he returns to the line-up batting 2nd and Pagan goes back to 6th or 7th in the line-up.

I"m not saying you're "wrong." I'm just saying that won't happen.

batting order is overrated, Pagan will contribute wherever he hits, Castillo will be fine as well in the long run, I'm not sure this is something people should be worrying themselves with.

So where exactly in the batting order do you Mets fans want to bat Castillo when he comes back (assuming you want to bat Pagan in the 2 spot)?
