First and foremost, go to Mets Walk-offs to get your fill of walk-off win information, about last night’s walk-off win, which was the team’s first since August, 2007.
According to the Brooklyn Met Fan, Angel
Pagan is the team’s early-season MVP, adding, “Of course, we need a bigger sample size across the board with him, but wouldn’t it be sweet if Pagan rendered Moises Al-who irrelevant?”
Speaking of Pagan, he gets hugs and kisses from the Global New York Mets Fan Blog.
Following the game on SNY, Matt Yalloff asked Lee Mazzili what may happen if Pagan continues to hit and Moises Alou returns, to which Mazzilli said, “Pagan goes to the bench.”
At Faith and Fear in Flushing, Jason Fry notes that last night’s win was the first ‘classic’ of 2008.
In a post to Loge 13, Kingman takes a look back at the demolition of the Polo Grounds.
Lastly, at MetsGeek, Aaron Dorman conducts a Q&A with injury-guru Will Carroll.

I agree that Pagan will go to the bench – It is a VERY nice problem to have and one that shouldn’t be worried about as Pagan will get plenty of playing time resting Alou and subbing in for Church against the tougher lefties (Church is doing a fine job vs lefties in general, IMO). Chances are, Alou will go down again in no time and Pagan can be inserted right back in LF.
Or Alou can go to first . . .
Can’t even begin to describe what a bad idea that would be……..
You just can’t take people and throw them at 1st base and assume they would be able to hold their own there. (Cough…Piazza….Cough) Something as simple as the scoop up and throw home Delgado made either last night or the night before is something I see Alou butchering. The error on opening day aside….Delgado does a decent job fielding his position, scooping up errant throws….and saving D-Wright from how many errors.
I thought Alou has played 1st before?
Nah, doesn’t look like it…..RF, CF, and LF
But if you thought he had, that doesn’t make it that bad of a suggestion. And I didn’t mean to jump on it like I did – just a habit from most people posting on the blog…
I understand, the tone here can get hysterical quite quickly.
Too bad Pagan can’t learn to play 2B and stay in the two hole. I’m getting spoiled here.
The loss of the Polo Grounds was sad in that it was a visible example of the misguided philosophy of city planning at the time. Tear down everything that’s old and replace it with superblock housing projects. We can all see how well that worked out.
its great to see Global NYM getting a link on here…i think we do a great job, both in the group on Facebook and with the blog. people should start checking it out. right after Metsblog of course!
who created globalnym again?
oh yeah…
