On this off-day, Metstradamus presents Shea Stadium: The Board Game.
…outstanding work, metsra…well done…
The Brooklyn Met Fan wonders if the recent booing is killing any home-field advantage that the Mets may have at home.
Lastly, at Bugs & Cranks, Brad Bartone recalls the baked-potato-and-mustard, Sid Fernandez diet, which Ron Darling recently talked about during a broadcast on SNY.
Note: Double A Binghamton was snowed out in Erie.

In a post for Sports Illustrated, Arash Markazi profiles Lenny Dykstra’s son, Cutter, who is currently a senior at Westlake High School in California.
Markazi writes:
“Cutter, a speedy sparkplug who is batting .491 through 16 games this season, is projected to be a first- to third-round pick in MLB’s amateur draft this June. Cutter already has shown more potential coming out of high school than his father did when he was selected by the Mets in the 13th round of the 1981 draft.”
“I want people saying that’s Lenny’s son,” says Cutter. “I want people saying, ‘He looks just like his dad. He’s plays just like his dad. He approaches the game just like his dad.’”
…the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree…this is a great read, and it seems that cutter has even more fire than his father did, if that’s even possible…
…i agree with cutter that there needs to be more players like there were when his father played…hard-nosed, blue-collar, do-whatever-it-takes-to-win types of athletes…i feel that i can usually tell how much a player enjoys the game by the way he plays, and if cutter is anything like lenny, he too will exemplify that enjoyment…
Tagged 1986 Mets, Regis Courtemanche |Moises Alou is expected to play in a rehab game in
Port St. Lucie before this weekend, according to Adam Rubin in the Daily News.
…some one sent me an e-mail recently, and referred to him as Moises Al-Who?, which made me laugh…seriously, until i see him back on the field, i have a hard time getting excited about his return…
Rubin also reports on Jose Reyes, the future of Angel Pagan, and the status of Duaner Sanchez and Matt Wise, who could re-join the team this week.

According to Green Fields of the Mind, Nelson Figueroa is a nice guy.
By the way, over the weekend, Willie Randolph told reporters that Figueroa will get his second start Thursday against the Nationals.
…therefore, the following is a tentative look at the team’s starting rotation over the next week or so…

Wednesday: John Maine vs. Nationals
Thursday: Nelson Figueroa vs. Nationals
Friday: Johan Santana at Phillies
Saturday: Oliver Perez at Phillies
In a report for SNY.tv, Ted Berg writes about David Wright the hitter, the leader and the politician, stating:
“It’s easy to overlook Wright, because he’s not under-appreciated or
misused or wrongly vilified, like the players I often dedicate this space to. Wright is a constant, and a nearly perfect one. He gets on base, he hits home runs, he smiles for the camera, he steals bases, he says the right thing, he wins Gold Gloves, he works out relentlessly, and he takes time out of his busy schedule to hug babies. And he’s still only 25 years old.”
…there is a small part of me that feels like this team will soon be at a crossroads, one in which wright is a great player surrounded by guys who do not work as hard as him and they fail, or one that is built in his shadow, and which he leads by example and wins…
…i’m not saying this is inevitable, but i often see this coming and it may not be a bad thing…
By the way, Wright will be a guest tonight on the Late Show with David Letterman, during which he will also take batting practice from Letterman on 53rd Street.

Tagged Poll, Willie Randolph |…nice job by the small group of fans at Shea Stadium the last few days, who have been doing the angel wave, like was featured in the movie Angels in the Outfield, i.e., flapping their hands off their shoulders, as though they are wings, in honor of Angel Pagan…
…several fans e-mailed me this weekend, all of whom were in favor of this, wishing it will catch on over time…
