These reports are one of my favorite things about Metsblog. Nice to see Carp turning it around.

Man, Mike Carp looks like a different player than we’ve ever seen so far huh? Even better he’s only punched out four times so far, a very good sign (although once he hits a skid, which undoubtadly will, I’d like to see him show a bit more selectiveness and draw some walks to keep his OBP up even if the BA takes a hit). If he kept up this torrid hitting and finished the year at something like .290/ .350 / .500 would it be stretch to call him the Mets second best position prospect? A full season in the high minors like that for Carp would go a long way towards planning the strategy for next offseason.

What got into the B-Mets? Are they playing in Citizens Bank Park?

Seems like FMart has had a few good games so far…I did think his avg. would be better than .267 though…

Eitherway, hopefully he can stay healthy and show what he is capable of over a full season….almost forget he is 19 sometimes.

  5. Nate W. says:

Sometimes the box score isnt so simple. Nate Field actually took the mound with a two run lead and promtly gave up a three run walk off homer. Maldanado put the runners on, but Field gave up the lead.

Very nice to see a solid outing by Tony Armas. Also that Mike Carp is making up for lost time from last season. Shame about Jon Niese. I know he deleted two of his pitches (he was throwing SIX…four-seamer, two-seamer, curve, slider, changeup, splitter and the change and slider were deleted…apparently this was hurting his concentration) and is throwing the two-seamer more with guys on base. He’ll get better as the year goes along, though. Personally, I think he has a higher ceiling than Bobby Parnell.

I wonder why they’re not just printing Toby Hyde’s recap of the minor league news. It seems like a reinventing of the wheel. Toby’s report has always been quite good.

  8. metzelaar says:

These reports make me giddy. Evans, Murphy, Carp, Niese, and F-Mart (duh) are looking like serious talent, despite our farm system being “barren”. Keep it up, guys.

by the way anyone know how tony penas kid is doing?

  10. smc says:

That Double-A team sounds very exciting. If nothing else, there may be some trade value built up. Hopefully, one of these guys makes it to Shea… oops, I mean the Citi…

  11. mza4eva says:

What’s going on with Brant Rustich? How is starting pitching going with him?

    • Nate W. says:

He hasnt seen an active roster yet, not sure if its an injury or if they just want him starting later in the year to limit his overall innings.

  12. Armas used to be a very solid pitcher. I think at some point he’s going to play a role for this team as a starter or even a middle reliever

  13. Midtown says:

Boy, Tatis is sure looking like that right-handed power bat off the bench right now. When do you think Omar will realize that Brady Clark is wasting space on the roster?
