I haven’t watched in awhile, but I definitely like this setup better than the previous ones where you are sitting down.

    Beltran keeeerushed that ball…

I agree w/ Steal Home jose: this setup is much better

Matt, you don’t have to refer to yourself in the 3rd person

Great work on this, really puts the booing at Shea into perspective, and hopefully allows for the players to not take it personal and realize we are behind them. I was not happy with Santana’s comments after being asked about the booing, but you cant really blame him for it. Lets Go Mets, I’ll be there tonight hopefully we can get the sweep.

First, Matt, nice job. You are looking more and more comfortable in front of the camera!

Second, as to the booing segment. I thought I heard most people fessing that they were booing Willie, and not the players. I am surprised that clarification was not added in the segment.

did you catch PLD’s interview during last night’s pre-game? he said the thing he liked best about playing in new york were the fans and the fact that they booed when they were mad and went nuts when they were happy. so, at least in PLD’s mind, the boos were anything but destructive…

  8. Jav says:

“If they boo, that’s fine. That’s the history they have from not being so good, I guess,” Santana said matter-of-factly near the end of an answer about whether he was surprised by the crowd reaction in his first home game.

“I’ve seen it before, it’s not the first time I’ve seen that happen to a home player,” he had said a few moments earlier. “We’re not perfect. We can’t do everything the way everybody wants, but we are human beings. We make mistakes sometimes.

“It’s just how you react to it and how you bounce back and do your job.”

As for PLD’s comments, he is right its part of our passion, but to boo a guy who is very important to this team and their success in his FIRST start at Shea (his home field) is some what destructive in my eyes. Now it sounds like in his quotes that he is on edge about the fans. Not a way to start a 7 year relationship. Im sure a great outing the next time around should fix things, but the booing didnt help.

I took that as a reference to the teams history … not the fans. Sounds like some people think he was referring to the fans as “not being so good”. In other words, I see no reason for any of us to be offended.

The boo birds must have been napping. They didn’t get on Pagan for going 0-4 last night.

Why do we have to make things comfortable for Santana? Shouldn’t it be the other way around? I mean he’s getting monster dollars and we are the ones shelling out monster dollars. What a baby!!

Because I would like to see a return on the investment my family makes every year with expensive season tickets that were just raised through more Ws than Ls…booing deters that and makes Santana feel unwelcome. If he is pitching poorly by the All-Star break than booing is fine, but it was his first home game and 3rd of the season.

No to mention he is a notorious slow starter. He generally performs at a mediocre level the first few games of the season.

…booing a pitcher who has won 2 Cy Young awards and should really be 2-1 (honestly, he pitched a complete 7 inning game against the Braves and allowed only 1 ER, I blame that one on the offense, not him) is classless.

    • cnome04 says:

so he can pitch well and help the team win the world series

  11. Jav says:

It’s his first game at Shea as a Met thats why? to early for that.

    • cnome04 says:

this is getting to the point where a divide is being creating between mets fans. When i am at Shea and I see people unecessarily booing the team I am trying to root for I may snap on them even if they are decked out in mets gear. At this point you are on the same level as a phillie fan to me you can both boo the mets together and catch hell from me

  12. GregB says:

Nice job Matt…it’s great that you’re addressing the issue…hopefully you’ll help a few people to see the light and maybe come back from the dark side.

  13. Jav says:

Well stated guys, i agree with the both of you. Now lets rally behind our team, and push last year far behind and focus on the task at hand. Let’s Go Mets!!!

  14. Jav says:

Bottom line us as Mets fan have always been under the mantra of “Ya Gotta Believe”, “Miracle Mets”, “Amazin Mets” which is why we are special as fans because we are there in the good times and the bad times. Lets not act like those Phillies fans, because they can keep that way of being to themselves. Yes last year was a hard pill to swallow but its in the past, we have to refocus and as fans support our team and let them know every night that we are behind them. Home Field advantage means something at Shea, when that stadium rocks the team feels it, so stop with all the Booing for non sense, and lets support our team.
