Don't you think there just might be a reason Frank Thomas has only logged 38 innings at 1B since the start of the 2001 season?

Like, he's done as a fielder?

He might also be done as a hitter - he's 7 for 60 so far this year.

Besides, Delgado's defense is very underrated. How many errors has he saved Wright already this year with smart tag plays after being pulled off the bag by an off-line throw?

It's amazing how the guy literally can just get up, after not playing for god knows how long, and just go 3 for 3 in his first game back.

The man is the true hitting machine (No offense F-Mart ;) )

Tomorrow we'll probably hear he slipped taking batting practice and dislocated a hip.

Thomas wants to play full time which is why he was released. He won't be playing full time here so he'd only be a detriment to the team.

I was going to bring up the same point. Thats all this site was talking about during spring was a righty power bat. If hes on the cheap im pretty sure he would be considered an upgrade over Brady Clark and Fernando Tatis.

I don't think Moises or Thomas are viable options for regular duty at 1B. You do want someone that will actually catch the ball on occasion (in addition to hitting)

ANd right now, I would be surpirsed if Delgado climbed back to .245. Might be beyond him at this point.

The 15 might happen if he gets enough garbage time BP fastballs, and the 70 will come from ABs, assuming he stays healthy.

At this point, best case scenerio might be 2 more weeks of Delgado doing what he can but the Mets still win, Carp continues to mash, then CD needs a trip to the DL and they call up Carp to fill in.

Of course, then you hope for Carp to grab the opportunity and Delgado to just pull a Marbury and go away!

I honestly think that, right now, Carp could give the same production, at about 3% of the cost.

Oh, and the best thing about a mid season call up? You get to evaluate the prospect in the majors, instead of just ST.

Can MY MAN MOSES play First Base????
I don not want to see Delgado there all year-

And what about signing Frank Thomas- for a Platoon????

Delgado's gona hit .245, with 15 HR's and 70 RBIs- where a slightly above average firstbasemen hitting in that spot in the mets line up could easily go .275 25 100+

If ALou is playing, and has no coplications, might as well get him back soon.

No point in wasting his precious few games in the minors!
