Minors: Recap from Sunday, April 20
By Jordan Zakarin - Apr 21, 2008 3:00 pm

New Orleans (AAA): 6-1 loss to Omaha

RHP Ruddy Lugo was hit hard, giving up 10 hits in six innings.  He allowed six runs, and while just two were earned thanks to a third inning error, his ERA got more luck than it deserved for how he threw.  1B Michel Abreu was 1-for-4 with a double, and OF Victor Mendez went 2-for-3 with a double and a run.

Binghamton (AA): 13-2 loss to Portland

RHP Jesus Sanchez had a mediocre outing, allowing three runs on eight hits and a walk in 5.1 innings.  LHP Edgar Alfonzo allowed two runs in 1.2 innings, and the game was blown to smithereens in RHP Robert Paulk’s 2/3 of an inning, during which he gave up eight runs on nine hits and a walk.

DH Mike Carp was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, and OF Ambiorix Concepcion drove in both B-Met runs in a 2-for-4 night that included a solo homer.

St. Lucie (A+): 10-5 loss to Palm Beach

RHP Dylan Owen was hit hard, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk in five innings.  OF Moises Alou, making his first rehab start, was 3-for-3 with a double and a run. SS Ruben Tejada was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs, while Lucas Duda was 2-for-5 with a run scored.

I love the Minor League recaps, but damn is the picture creepy.

What were you looking for over your shoulder, the Phillie Phanatic?

Ambiorix Concepcion – haven’t heard about him in awhile. How’s he been doing? What’s is his ceiling looking like?

I’m interested in this Alou kid. What’s his ceiling?

comes from a strong baseball background, quick hands, right-handed bat with pop, will hit for average, high baseball IQ…durability is a concern though, some scouts worry about him making it through a grueling 162 games schedule.

Carpe Diem. His time is drawing nearer as Delgado continues to plummet into the bottomless Frank Thomas zone (with less power).
